No restart after auto idle stop - car fails to restart automatically after stop and releasing the brake pedal. This has happened on a number of occasions in the last few months. This can cause a dangerous condition that can can cause an accident if stopped in an intersection or a rear end collision as the driver behind assumes the vehicle will move but does not. Car has to be shut off to restart.

The malfunction was both rear drains from the sunroof were clogged and possibly kinked. The dealership might still have the components but did not give us access to them. The clog caused the water to enter the vehicle and accumulate. In addition to wet carpeting, an electrical component shorted and failed damaging the infotainment system. If this had happened during vehicle operation with water moving around, electrical systems could suddenly fail while driving. The vehicle was inspected by the insurance adjustor but was deemed a maintenance issue even though there exist no maintenance instructions or dealership directives for maintenance or inspections. Owner maintenance would not be possible as special tools would be needed without which damage to the drain lines might occur. There was no warning, messaging, or instructions that maintenance was necessary for this item or that it could fail. The first sign was the sound of sloshing water in the vehicle during driving and the failure of the infotainment system. As a remedy, the dealership insisted on replacing the drain lines rather than cleaning them out, which implies that either the dealership was creating extra work for themselves or the drain line could not easily be cleaned.
Design flow at the corrosion built upat sensor connector. Water gets in and corrodes connector. Causing over $8000 in repairs for the following: complete floor wire harness extending to stroke sensors- corrosion built upat sensor connector causing fault in floor harness.

When I was at 41,528 miles, may 18, the lkas, acc & rdms errors all turned on at the same time. So those systems just stopped working randomly. When I restarted the car, all errors turned off but it turned on again after 10 days, may 28 with 91,966 miles. I brought it to the Acura dealership and they couldn't replicate it. I think this is an issue because one of the highlights of this car is safety but at random times, those safety systems suddenly stops working and the dealership couldn't do anything about it.

Our car eats a ton of oil and the piston rings failed, we owe a lot on it and I'm told there is no help for this issue even though there used to be because we are outside the guidelines in terms of mileage and purchase date. Our car has 156k its a 2012 Mdx. VIN [xxx] . Just checking with everyone everywhere to make sure I've exhausted all resources as it will take 13,000 to fix and we owe 12,000. Good morning, out of nowhere my dashboard lit up after 5+ years of having no issues with the vehicle. I believe there are a total of 5 safety features that are linked to the adas camera in this Mdx but I am not 100%, it may be 4 safety features. I am not here to whine about a repair on a 6 year old vehicle but this particular issue has become extremely common with this vehicle. I believe (along with all the other owners) that the adas issue with certain year Acura & Honda is happening way to often way too soon. My Mdx does not even have 70k on it! after doing some research between facebook, reddit & many other Acura/Honda forums this appears to be all too common. When that camera shits the bed you lose many of the main safety features that may have brought you to purchase that vehicle. My local Acura dealer in wilmington, nc told me he is replacing this part once a month and none of them are under warranty I'm not sure why he shared that with me but he did. That is an alarming number considering where I live and how few Mdx's there probably are in my area. Where I live everyone drives either a full size pickup or SUV and theyre all american brands. The dealer wants $1800 for the repair. I'm getting it done because I have the money to do it but I am not happy at all. Normal wear and tear repairs I get, this one however I have a major issue with it. Many people are not having the repair done because the car is driveable. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated & thank you for your time. [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
On April 17 2026 while driving my 2022 Acura Mdx at very low speed in a parking lot, the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward without warning and surged into bushes before I could stop it. I did not mistake the gas for the brake pedal. This felt like a sudden unintended acceleration event. I was preparing to park in a stall and the vehicle lunged forward unexpectedly. I applied the brake, but the braking did not immediately stop the forward surge. Earlier, I experienced another unusual event in which the vehicle abruptly auto-braked, jerked, and made a warning sound while I was slowing for a red light. I noticed the car felt as if it was surging a bit on residential streets and was about to mention it during the next service. This incident has caused me to lose confidence in the safety of the vehicle. I contacted niello Acura who has been very cooperative. I was told the issue would need to be duplicated or that they could only inspect it if a code had been stored once the car is repaired. The car is currently being repaired with close to 7,000 in front end damage. I am reporting this because a sudden unintended acceleration presents a serious safety risk and could easily have caused a more severe crash or injury. I did research on this issue and have found various reports of unintended accelerations in the Acura Mdx forums from various years but was unable to find any recalls or outcomes with these reports my concern is this will be dismissed as "operator error" or a phantom incident that cannot be reproduced.
Our infotainment system stopped working and when we took it one of Acura’s authorized dealers they told us that back half of the car is flooded and that has shot down all the electronics including the infotainment system. They also gave me a bill of $10k usd to fix the leak and replaced damaged electronics. Their argument is that the car was parked outside and that caused this issue. This has never come up in any of our previous maintenance visits where Acura certified dealerships always check our car and tell us that everything is okay.

My 2017 Acura Mdx unexpectedly shifts into neutral while I am driving, specifically when slowing down approaching stop signs. When this happens, the vehicle loses power and will not accelerate, creating a dangerous situation in traffic. I have to manually press the drive button to put the vehicle back into gear while still on the road. This has happened multiple times without warning and no recall exists for this issue. This is a serious safety hazard because the vehicle can lose power in traffic or intersections.

Auto start/stop system - yes, it is available for inspection. The vehicle turned off at a buy intersection and it was a couple of minutes before it would restart. The vehicle will be inspected my a dealer on Monday. No manufacturer, police, insurance representative has inspected the vehicle. There was a message when the vehicle turned off but I can't recall what it said as other drivers were blowing horns and I was focused on my safety at the time.
Mdx type s with 63k miles. After performing diagnostic check there were several fault codes related to the vehicle's suspension system. Upon inspection, they identified issues with the ride height (stroke) sensors and wiring. The right rear, left rear, and right front sensors are affected. The right rear sensor has a broken pin, and part of that pin is stuck in the wiring connector. The left rear sensor also has a pin that is corroded. Additionally, the main wiring harness along the floor is corroded. This is due to poor location of wire harness in the type s, and corrosion was due to salt exposure from icy roads. Dealership confirmed this was a known issue and had about a dozen of these replacements in the last few months.
I am filing a complaint regarding my 2022 Acura Mdx type s with approximately 70,700 miles. The vehicle developed a suspension system warning, and upon inspection by an Acura dealership, I was informed that the suspension stroke sensor and floor wiring harness are corroded and require replacement. I was quoted approximately $12,000 for the repair. This failure is extremely concerning because the vehicle is only a few years old and this type of corrosion affecting a major wiring harness should not occur under normal operating conditions. The affected components are part of the suspension system, which directly impacts vehicle handling and safety. Due to the failure, the suspension system may not function properly, potentially affecting ride height, stability, and overall control of the vehicle. This raises safety concerns, especially at highway speeds or during emergency maneuvers. There was no prior warning of water intrusion or external damage that would reasonably explain this level of corrosion. This appears to be a premature failure of a critical electrical component. Acura has only offered minimal goodwill assistance, leaving the majority of this extremely costly repair as the responsibility of the owner. I am concerned that this may be a broader issue affecting other vehicles and that it could pose a safety risk if not addressed. I am requesting that this issue be investigated. Thank you.
When I was at a stop light, the car shut off and went into park. I believe the idle stop was off at the time. When I tried to shift to drive it told me I needed to start the car by holding the brake and the button. It took a couple of attempts for it to cycle through and start. This happened several weeks prior to the incident yesterday. It is currently at the dealership. When I googled the issues it said it was a "known issue". It could be dangerous if it shuts off on railroad tracks or in traffic.
I start getting every kind of warning on my dashboard - collision mitigation system problem -auto crues control problem -brake system light on - the car apply brake on the miidle of street/highway.
All wheel drive system failure. My vehicle's all wheel drive system failed during a snow storm, it reverted to front wheel drive only.
We had the recall repair done on the start/stop feature on our Mdx and it seemed to work initially. But recently the feature has caused the vehicle to stall at intersections again as it did before. It’s happened at least 3 times in the last six months with the most recent occurrence being on 1/20/2026. These occurrences happen despite the fact that we try to remember to turn off the feature when we start our trip. Each occurrence has stalled the vehicle at a traffic light in rush hour traffic. It’s very frightening and we are lucky that it hasn’t caused an accident or gotten us shot! we live in texas (funny but not).
Car started to accelerate randomly and 2 seperate occasions while driving, car started to decelerate / brake randomly while driving.
Sunroof exploded while driving on the interstate. A loud noise and glass was everywhere inside the truck on my passenger and I. The distraction caused me to slam on brakes injuring my foot in which I’m out of work for 4 weeks.
Automatic transmission. The car does not go to park when selecting park, it goes into neutral mode. It does not park at all.
I was at a red light. My auto idle kicked in. I went to turn it off and either simultaneously or right before I hit the idle off button my car stalled. It took several attempts to turn back on and a bunch of codes threw. I almost got rear ended. This is a known problem. Ive contacted Acura / Honda via email as well.
Incident 1 (loss of propulsion in traffic) - 12/16/25 the vehicle failed to restart immediately after the auto start-stop system attempted to re-engage the engine. Upon attempting to accelerate, the engine did not restart, resulting in a complete loss of propulsion while in active traffic. The vehicle became temporarily inoperable and unresponsive, creating a hazardous condition with elevated risk of rear-end collision and inability to safely clear traffic or intersections. Incident 2 (failure to start – reliability concern) - 4/1/26 on a separate occasion, the vehicle failed to start entirely upon initial startup (first use of the day). The engine did not turn over as expected, rendering the vehicle inoperable. This incident raises significant concerns about system reliability and dependability, particularly given its occurrence independent of the auto start-stop event. Safety concern: the first incident demonstrates a critical safety defect involving unexpected loss of propulsion in live traffic conditions. The second incident, while occurring at startup, indicates a broader pattern of failure affecting the vehicle’s ability to reliably start and operate. Together, these incidents suggest a potential defect in the starting/ignition or auto start-stop system that may compromise safe vehicle operation and increase the risk of crash or stranding.
Front windshield camera went bad due to overheating. When malfunction it gives multiple warning lights, everything that has to deal with front windshield camera does not work. Ive hearing multiple and multiple stories online and in person that they too is affected by camera malfunctioning. There needs to be a recall on it as it is affecting way too many people. My car is a 2019 with only 47000 miles pretty much still new. Parts plus labor and camera calibration is $2200.
Issues with the sunroof frame. I've notice popping from the car roof Acura is aware of this issue they've put out a bulletin but only covering cars that have less than 50k miles and are under 4 years old. After researching I see a lot of people are having similar issues where the screws come lose and the sunroof frame breaks causing some sunroof to shatter.
On 11. 25. 25, my Mdx was involved in a multi-car hit and run on highway 101 sb at the laurel drive off ramp. The vehicle sustained two points of impact: (1) substantial front/driver side impact (2) rear-passenger side impact. Despite the severity, location of impact and speed of travel at the time of the collision, all airbags deployed except for the driver side curtain airbag. Importantly, at the time of the crash, the lane keeping assist system (lkas) and associated Acurawatch driver assist systems were activated. The vehicle’s safety assistance technology was engaged and functioning immediately prior to impact. Considering the above mentioned facts, driver side airbag failing to deploy, raises serious concerns regarding possible software or signal-processing malfunction or electronic communication between radar/camera systems and the srs module. The nature and severity of the impact clearly met deployment criteria for the driver side airbag. This failure raises concern that there may be a defect in the srs system, including but not limited airbag inflator component or propellant issue. Supplemental restraint system (srs) crash sensor calibration. Srs control module deployment logic. Crash signal sensors. Event-trigger logic or interconnnect failure. Wiring harness or inflator defect. Whether the system registered steering correction or impact prediction, the failure to deploy increased my risk and resulting injury, as well as compromised the fundamental safety system designed to protect drivers in front-impact crashes.
Turned on my car last night and many lights appeared including emissions system problem, electronic brake problem and sh-awd malfunctioning. All the lights came on at once. According to forums, this is happening with many Acura rdx, Mdx models and manufacturer does not have a clear way to repair or resolve the issue. My car has had all the routine maintenance and is scheduled for the 2 recalls to be repaired next week.
Ac / defroster / hvac I am reporting a potential safety and health defect involving the hvac system in my 2024 Acura Mdx. When operating the air conditioning or the front windshield defroster, a strong musty odor enters the cabin. The dealer informed me that resolving the odor requires an evap core cleaning, replacement of the cabin filter, and the use of a disinfectant that will be circulated throughout the ventilation system to kill mold, mildew, and other contaminants. I was told this is the “first step” in addressing the issue and that the estimated cost is $440 out of pocket. This is extremely concerning because the presence of mold or bacterial contamination inside the hvac evaporator and ventilation system affects the air my children and I breathe inside the vehicle. Mold exposure can cause respiratory irritation, allergic reactions, headaches, and other symptoms, especially in enclosed spaces. The hvac system in this vehicle is a sealed, manufacturer-controlled system which the owner cannot access or service, so this type of contamination should not be considered routine maintenance. I have researched this issue and found that Honda/Acura vehicles have a documented history of hvac mold and mildew odors, and Honda has previously issued internal investigative bulletins requesting dealers to collect parts from vehicles with musty hvac smells. There are also mold-related complaints already filed with NHTSA for the 2024 Mdx model year. This suggests the possibility of a broader engineering or design issue. I need this issue addressed immediately for health reasons, and I may have to initially pay out of pocket to ensure my family’s safety. However, I believe this is a safety-related defect that Acura should be responsible for correcting, not the customer, especially on a relatively new vehicle still under warranty. I am requesting that NHTSA document this case and consider evaluating whether a pattern of hvac mold contamination exists in newer Acura vehicles.
Google on-board gives a persistent error that the mmi and car driving technology firmware cannot be completed. Service center says it’s known and they can’t do anything. The car is supposed to have voice control over vehicle temperature and functionality — it does not. It frequently will not automatically connect to a wireless apple car play or google auto connection. Firmware is also supposed to communicate w car speed, etc. To make Acura assist driving more safe.
When at a complete stop at a stop light or stop sign and ready to press the gas to accelerate, there’s a delay for the car to even start moving. It doesn’t want to go when pressed on. Which can cause the person behind me to hit the back of the car. It nearly came to that. There’s sudden fast movement when accelerating to get the car to move forward. It’s been happening numerous times where the gas pedal isn’t recognizing the acceleration part. I’ve read plenty forums about this issue with this vehicle and still not enough complaints for a recall? can we look into this as this is a safety issue. The car won’t accelerate when you want it to.

The factory?applied exterior paint on the roof panel of my 2016 Acura Mdx has experienced clear?coat and base?coat delamination, resulting in complete separation of paint layers and exposure of bare metal. This is not a cosmetic blemish or paint discoloration. The failure involves loss of adhesion between factory coating layers, causing large sections of paint to peel away unexpectedly. The exposed metal surface is at risk of corrosion, which may compromise the long?term structural integrity of the vehicle’s roof panel. In addition, peeling paint has detached in rigid fragments that could become roadway debris, creating a hazard to other motorists if detachment occurs while driving. This condition matches a known manufacturing defect previously acknowledged by the manufacturer in a technical service bulletin addressing paint delamination on similarly built vehicles. However, the manufacturer has declined to correct the defect based solely on VIN exclusion, despite identical failure characteristics. The defect raises concerns beyond appearance, including corrosion risk, loss of protective coating, and potential safety hazards from detached exterior material.

Review mirror became detached , rendering it inoperable and a safety concern. Research shows it a known issue and design flaw for the bracket.
This is a complaint about the defective tpms components in this vehicle. I sent a copy to Acura and Honda client relations and to the dealer (montano Acura). [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
The auto start stop function is not working, the car turn-off completely and I have to start the engine by pressing the start button.
Two issues: 1. The paint on my rooftop in front of the sunroof began peeling off three months ago. I’ve read and many owners of the same model within a two year timeframe have had the exact same issue and we realized it’s a manufacturer’s problem. The manufacturer however, is saying it’s out of warranty and that’s absurd because now we all have to pay $2000+ to have our entire roof repainted. I have read that some people have had it repainted and it’s peeling again. That is a major problem. Acura needs to remedy this quickly before they lose customers. And I really love my Acura and I would love to buy another one in the future, but I’m counting on this one lasting a very long time! won’t last that long, however, if the paint peels off continuously. I’ve included below in the attachments the preliminary repair cost of this that I had quoted when I first discovered the issue in October. 2. My battery kept draining two years ago, even though I got a new battery – – twice within the same month – – and the dealership in birmingham, king Acura, was very thorough and very kind and generous, and the only thing that they could figure out after I had read numerous reviews from consumers online and suggested it to them was that the bluetooth was draining my battery. They told me I could replace it for $3500 or have them disconnect it permanently. I chose to have them disconnected permanently because I didn’t want to pay $3500 for a bluetooth system that was working but caused a random side effect that affected my whole car. Can you please help me with these issues as I am a big fan of Acura and I would like to see Honda make good on this. Thank you.
