Auto idle mode - after we've stopped and released the brake to go forward, the car will then shift to neutral by itself instead of restarting to drive. This has happened frequently and is now starting to happen more often. This is a safety issue, especially if you're the last car in line and other cars are traveling 55-60 miles behind you on a major road and see a green light ahead. Each time this happens, we have to turn off the car and try to restart the car, and sometimes this has been iffy and we've had to repeat the process a couple of times. There were no warning lights of problems with any of car components. . Read more...

On 8/24, I purchased an Acura Mdx 2025 technology package. We drove home from the dealer, my mother heard a rattling noise but thought it was the car seat making the noise. The next day,I heard the noise again,it was coming from the right, rear back,I checked, and saw the wheel liner loose and thought the noise was being cause by a loose liner. My mother said we had to go back to the dealer on 8/31 to pick up the wheel lock and weather mats and we would have them check the liner. As the week went by,the noise was more often. On the way to the dealer, we could hear the noise after every bump or turning right. We gave this information to the dealer,we said we thought it was a loose liner but were not sure anymore as the rattling was more often. We did not feel safe driving home. They provided us a loaner and said they would look into it. On 9/4 they sent a text that the rear sway bar link was faulty, the part was ordered and the car should be ready by Friday. My mom emailed them to ask if by faulty, they meant it was loose or broken, they checked and said it was broken. It was expressed to them that this was concerning because it was a brand new vehicle, that we felt blessed that we decided to leave the car,had we driven back home, god knows what could have happened since a broken link can cause you to lose control and get into an accident. We asked if they would report it to the manufacturer or NHTSA? they did not reply. But text a day after stating that we must have gone through a pothole at high speed or hit something, and we were liable for the cost. After my mother sent an email and spoke with them saying that if it was not caused by us,that if the issue was there, was it caused during transporting the car from the manufacturer to the dealer?they said that the car was fixed and there would be no charge but kept insisting that we were at fault, that it happens alot, where people walk out of the dealer and come back with something broken the next day. (more to say but no space).
The contact owns a 2025 Acura Mdx. The contact stated that while shifted into reverse(r), the rear-view camera display failed to function as needed. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to respond while shifted into reverse (r). The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure or determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 25v032000 (back over prevention, equipment); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.
Acura issued warranty extension TSB 19-029 on 2014-2016 Mdx with white diamond pearl paint. The extension covers the roof and rear door. My roof began peeling in or around 2022 and the roof was repainted without issue. The rear door just showed signs of the defect in August 2024, and the issue is clearly the same manufacturer defect as identified in the document, however, Acura is unwilling to correct the defect due to the warranty period now being expired.

I was in traffic and we slowed down to a stop. Suddenly my car went to neutral and it didn’t want to go to drive. I put emergency lights, as many cars were behind in the highway. I turned the car off and turned it back on. Then I was able to drive again! this has happened twice in the last 3 months.
Paint peeling on roof.

Sunroof explosion. On July 19, 2024, I was driving southbound on I-94 north of the old orchard exit (about 15 miles north of chicago, illinois). It was mid to late morning, sunny, 75 degrees. I drove over some pavement that was under repair but was not marked as being under repair. Within 60 seconds I heard a loud bang or explosion. My sunroof cover was closed and heard glass falling onto the cover. I exited the highway and saw that the glass was broken in the center of the sunroof. There were no rocks or objects in the sunroof and no evidence that anything had impacted the sunroof. The vehicle is available for inspection however, I am in the process of clearing the glass so that I can operate the vehicle during the month that it will take for a replacement glass to arrive. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer, the component has not been inspected by anyone other than myself. There were no warnings prior to the incident.
No warning lights or other indications occurred. This is the 2nd time while sitting at a stop light that the car has gone into neutral gear and it was unknown until the traffic signal turned green and I could not go. I could not shift into drive. The remedy required that I shut the car off and restarted (very little time between) before putting it in gear. Both occurrences were with idle stop function on. There is an entire discussion forum on this exact issue on Mdxers. Org. Being first in line at a stop with 4 other passengers and a line of drivers expecting me to go on green is a sure way to result in an accident. The car goes in for regular service next week and I will bring it to the dealer’s attention.
While driving on a major highway, several warning lights, including the brake warning, appeared on the dashboard. Simultaneously, the vehicle lost power steering, making it extremely difficult to steer and creating a hazardous situation for the driver and others on the road. The driver managed to pull over and turn off the vehicle. Upon restarting, the warning lights were gone, and the steering returned to normal. The car was taken to a local Acura dealership, but they couldn’t find any error codes or replicate the issue. After a week of driving without any problems, the car was brought back to the dealership. This time, a district Acura technician recommended replacing the steering rack. The dealership informed us that Acura would disassemble the old steering rack to investigate the issue further and determine if it was the cause. Acura will decide on a recall if enough vehicles are affected.

Panoramic roof suddenly exploded with no apparent reason while driving around 45 mile per hour. The outside temperature from the gauge was showing 89 degree f. Road was clean and there was no sign of a rock hitting the roof. Luckily all the broken glasses were collected by the sunshade and did not fall inside the cabin where 2 kids were sitting on the second row seats. The broken glass could have seriously injured the driver and the passengers if the sunshade was open.
Paint peeling on my 2016 Acura Mdx with color code nh 603p. This is a frequent problem-- so frequent that Acura issued a service bulletin 19-029. I am hoping for a full recall. The problem is Acura claims this is based on VIN. If you google "problems with 2016 Acura Mdx with paint peeling" you will find a slew of owners with this same problem but the VIN is not eligible for reimbursement (mine was not eligible either based on my VIN). This is a problem with the color code not the VIN. Can NHTSA request a full recall to Acura for all vehicles identified in service bulletin 19-029 regardless of the VIN??? clearly there is a problem with the year, make, model, color code regardless of the VIN>.
I stopped at a stop sign and the car went into n without me changing anything. The car wouldnt go back to d or p mode even when I pressed the buttons. I had to turn off the car and turn it on again to make it function properlty. This happened twice within 5 mins.
I purchased this car in September of 2023 with 23,000 miles on it then I received a recall in December 2023. I purchased tires for my car at the dealership and they scheduled my car to have this recall to be fixed on Monday may 13, 2024. I brought the car in on Monday and received a call on Saturday may 18, 2024 to pick my car up from the dealership that it was fixed. I took my car to get gas and two lights on my dash board came up one about my emergency brakes and the other code stated that there is a engine problem and immediately bring the car to the dealership less than one hour of picking it up from a so called recall repair that I was told was going to take two weeks to fix ended up less than 5 days and the car is back at the dealership less than a hour of picking the car up today. I am pissed off and the car is a $40,000 car I paid for with these types of problems when iam paying a $680 a month on the car note and can’t drive it . Btway the car smelled of burnt oil while driving it back to the dealership when the lights came on. I want my money back on this recall I need to let you know that is why I bought a new car so I wouldn’t have to deal with this big ass migraine. The dealership needs to replace my car period in my eyes this can’t be fixed it already has to many problems and issues with this vehicle.
The auto start/stop feature of the vehicle activated on the exit ramp of a highway, it did not restart the car but disabled all use and automatically shifted to neutral and would not power down, shift into another gear, or do anything. My wife had our children in the car during a high traffic time of day and my vehicle was disabled for approximately 5 minutes. Other cars exiting the highway at a high rate of speed had to go around my vehicle to continue. This is the second occurrence like this and previous “repairs” was the dealership just replacing the battery. This is the second time my family has been put at risk. The vehicle is available for inspection and there is a call in to the local dealership who has nobody available to speak with me until Monday.

I have been trying to address the open recall with the dealership I purchased the car from. Bernardi Acura of boston. They scheduled the original appointment 4 weeks out and then the day before, they call to reschedule another 8 weeks later. The mechanic stated the repair should be done ASAP as it is a safety issue. I have been trying to get feedback whether the car is safe to drive and why they are pushing out the appointment, but I have not been given a response. I opened a complaint with Acura and the gm of the dealership.
This vehicle is being sold by corwin Honda in fargo, north dakota. As I understand it, this car should not have been taken in on a trade and should not be sold until repairs are made. I do understand that parts have been hard to get and it is a huge inconvenience for the car owner. We looked at this car and were quite prepared to purchase it, but I fear for our safety and anyone else on the road.
Dear support, I own Acura Mdx 2016 with VIN number 5fryd4h22gb030552, paint color is white diamond pearl I notice the paint is peeling off from in-between roof and front wind screen. I see there are recall for this color but I don't see my car in your recall list, my cousin also own 2016 Mdx and after contacting to Acura support his car is getting fixed. I tried to contact t them but they are very rude and not supporting for.
Paint. Delaminating at the sealer. Paint flakes randomly fall off car over the years. Acura verified this was a factory defect and the common area is occurred was the roof. This was covered for my car 03. 2019 under an extended warranty but was only limited to the roof. I specifically asked to fix the whole paint job since this was a factory defect and they stated they will only fix the area with the current damage. Well now time has passed and this has now happened on my left passenger door and Acura will not cover any part of fixing their factory defect. Terrible on Acura for selling a product they know has a factory defect and they will not stand by their product.

When I was stopped at a red light in traffic (my vehicle was in idle stop mode), my car simply died and would not restart when the traffic light turned green and I stepped on the gas pedal to move forward with traffic. It took numerous attempts to re start the vehicle while stuck in very heavy traffic before it gained power and was able to drive forward. My safety was compromised I was in the middle of multiple lanes of moving traffic, it was scary. No warning lamps or messages occured prior to the incident.
Open recall that still has not been repaired due to not knowing when parts will be available.

On highway and switching lanes. All of a sudden electric parking brake and all driver assist lights came on. Pull over light came on as well. Hit on left rear symbol came on. Was never hit just a close car on driver left rear side when switching lanes. Made it home and vehicle wouldn’t switch back into drive mode. Acura didn’t do its due process and assumed a new transmission was needed. Replaced and a month later electric parking brake sign starts flashing again. Now dealership is saying I need a new catalytic converter. Refused as I believe Acura has been incorrect about the diagnostic. They also stated my vehicle was in a collision and it wasn’t. They refused to check electrical issues and update software as these things are not in my control. It is my belief the car had a faulty collision warning which is causing other issues as well as Acura refusing to probably assist and diagnose without me continuing to be falsely diagnosed.
I was in a parking mode and was leaving the parking lot. I reversed my car lo leave, and the car went out of control and was not until it crashed on two other parked cars that came to a stop. Then, after reversing my car, when trying to put it into drive, it would not move. When I tried to turn it off, the engine (re) started again and it worked so I could clear the path for other cars and wait until the police came. I had major maintenance at Acura hopkins 2 and 3 years ago, I had a new steering pump and hoses changed 5 months ago and new front and rear brakes 3 months ago. Many people who are familiar with cars tell me that it was probably the rings. I don't know it may be the transmission? there was a police report as there were two other cars involved and both with severe damages. State farm considered my car totaled despite the large amount of money spent to bring this car to almost new condition.

The sensor under the hood malfunctions causing the car alarm system to go off and battery to get drained. Multiple batteries were changed because initially the thinking was that the battery needed to be replaced. Car alarm would go off in the middle of the night (with a new battery) when parked in the garage. All the electrical systems and lights would start turning off and on as if the car is possessed. Manufacturer is aware of the problem. Many others are complaining on the internet. There are variety of hacks including rigging the sensor that are suggested. Dealer said the entire control unit had to be replaced for $1122. Repair was made. They said when they run out of parts (control unit) they also disconnect the sensor. So you have cars on the highways that are no longer appropriately indicating when the hood is down (shut correctly or whether it is a false alarm. I called the manufacturer they didn't take responsibility (case 14470102) with Acura/Honda.
February 2024 several issues started to occur with my 2018 Acura awd Mdx. On two occasions I tried to start the vehicle, wouldnt start till the third attempt. I was driving not even 25 miles when the vehicle accelerated. Another occasion I was exiting a parking spot when the vehicle deccelerated, couldnt pick up speed almost crashed into a parked vehicle. I called Acura dealership to report concerns. Spoke to donna tipton. She cut me off stating Acura doesnt have the fuel pump or connecting rod in stock call back in the spring. I called Acura care to report was given a case number and advised to take my vehicle to Acura for priority service based on the issues. The dealership gave me the run around for over a month trying to get an appointment. In the meantime, the issues with the vehicle worsened. I called Acura care they advised to call the dealership trying to get a supervisor. Donna wouldnt get the manager or take my information. I called again April 16th spoke to shawn and was scheduled April 24th. My vehicle was there all day for them to say they didnt experienced any issues and they have no control over the issues im having or the fact Acura won't have parts the fall of 2024. I cannot drive a vehicle with engine issues till fall without being at risk for a crash, injury or death to myself or others. I need my vehicle repaired or replaced immediately. Acura need to expedite this process.

The trunk opens like it should, but then closes after the lift gate reaches the top. It will close on your head if you don't move out of the way, which is what happened the first time because I didn't know what was happening. You can stop the lift gate from continuing to close, but then you can hurt your arm due to the force the door is closing with, as there is no auto censor for the door to know something is blocking the path. This event has been reproduced over 50 times in the last week. About 10% of the time, the lift gate works normally. I have an appointment at the dealership in 3 days. Based on a search of tsbs, this problem has been reported multiple times since at least 2019. It had been working normally until this week, started 2/10/24 and is still occurring when I open the trunk. No warning messages appear.
Sunday 2/42004 the car just shut off on me brakes stop working could turn could stop.
01/14/2024 7 pm. As I was on the highway, warning lights came on the dashboard, “failing transmission, emission failure, and side mirrors failure. ” I soon lost a lot of power. I purchased this 2016 Acura Mdx in 2019 at Acura of concord as a pre-owned certified with 20k miles. At the time of the transmission failure I had put an additional 17k miles. Total cost for a new transmission was nearly $8000. This does not seem fair to have to replace a transmission with so little miles. It seems as though this vehicle is a lemon. Approximately 3 weeks later, as I coming up the driveway, I noticed a huge chip of paint missing in front of the sunroof area. Now this appears exactly as the recall or extended warranty demonstrates for 2014-2016 Mdx white diamond pearl nh-603p. Honda claims this “VIN does not qualify” for this extended warranty. Even the service manager at Acura of concord exclaimed,”how they explain to me that this vehicle does not qualify when it is the same year model, same paint, and that the paint chipped off exactly the same way as described in the extended warranty recall. ” in other words, Honda is forcing me to reach out to you because this VIN is not on the list and they do not wish to acknowledge that they are at fault. I do not feel that it right that I paid $8000 for a new transmission, and now I will have to pay $5303. 70 to repair the paint on the roof. Please help me in this matter. Thanks, luis m talavera.
My 2018 Acura Mdx received an auto engine software update a couple months ago. I took it in "Acura of johnston" in iowa due to a recall notice I received that indicated engine could stall when trying to accelerate or may not restart. After the the software update I was told this should fix the problem and they would only replace the mechanical parts if the software failed; starter motor assembly along with the power relay assembly. I left the dealership and later that day the message "auto engine idle stop system problem" flashed periodically. I called the dealership and spoke to the service department. He explained that wasnt a problem, as it is probably due to outside temperature and the update now has 13 different variables and should be okay. (I didn't buy it) he told me to contact them if it continued. In the past 2 weeks starting towards the end of December 2023 the "auto engine idle stop system problem" message flashes several times during driving with a chine. I called the dealership and they tried to explain away it was due to temperature. I pushed back and reminded him what he told me previously. He then put me on hold and came back and said to bring the car in. I did contact Acura customer care and explained what happened and told them I read the original technician guide that stated if the software did'nt take they would need to replace the parts. I asked this is covered correct? the representative said no because my care has a "rebuild title" and it would be at your cost. I reminded them that their recall stated this as a safety issue. She stated they were only extending the warranty to non "rebuild title owners". I again asked, "despite this being a safety recall by your own company"? she said yes and parts to fix would be my expense. My VIN is 5j8yd4h86jl012115 and has other recalls outstanding and when I asked about those I wasnt re-assured those would be covered.
I purchased my new vehicle (2024 Acura Mdx) in September 2024. On December 20, 2024, my SUV was on but in the parked position when the lights on the dashboard started flashing. I had the SUV towed to paragon Acura, where I was informed that the pcm had internal failure due to a circuit shortage. There were not any vehicle issues prior to the issues on December 20.
The oil issue. We bought a 2010 Acura Mdx from another person, unaware that no matter how much oil you put in it, it does not last very long. I travel 60 miles/day between work and pick-up kids and home. The oil lasts maybe 2 days says empty and we never need to add much for it to be full. We have a Toyota sequoia that is bigger and we have no problems with this issue. Had a Honda didn't have this issue, and had a few pick-ups with out this issue. All older than the Acura. . This is expensive and what can we do to fix this??.

Was at stoplight with idle stop on and when light turned green car wouldn’t engage. Saw it had shifted to neutral and needed to turn the car off, restart before I could drive away. Could have been hit from behind especially since it was dark out.
Abs vsa malfunction light comes up constantly and car rattles when brakes are used. It’s constantly turned on even with good road conditions. There are millions of customer complaints on the web about this issue and I believe this should be logged as a major issue which should be logged a recall and offered as a fix to customers who have these car models and issues. My daughter was driving the car and experienced issues on freeway when braking. The car slipped to the side when brakes were pushed and the whole car was shaking and unstable.
On November 17, 2023 while we were on a trip the vehicle's sunroof spontaneously exploded upward. There were no other vehicles around us and nothing above us. This is the second time this sunroof has exploded. The first was on February 19, 2023. Both incidents were covered by insurance except for the deductible. This could have posed a great danger to anyone immediately behind my vehicle as glass was blown back in that direction.
I have been trying to get the two recalls fixed for several months with the dealership telling me they don't have the parts and they would contact me when they get the parts in. No one contacts me, I call to find out if they have received parts. Recall, 23v-858 and 23v-751.
