Power Steering Pump Problems of Acura MDX

My 2007 Acura Mdx is experiencing a common problem with the power steering pump. Acura issued an extension on the warranty for this issue, but that extension only lasted seven years. As someone who acquired the car after 2014 I was automatically not qualified in this common problem. Acura has issued a recall for other model cars built in this same year using the same power steering pump. Yet the recall NHTSA campaign 12v222000 does not include model Mdx. I would like to know "why" Mdx was not also part of the recall seeing as though it is the exact same symptoms, and parts used for the power steering pump, hoses, and seals.

While driving approx. 40 mph and slowing to turn into gas station, the car completely turned off. I was unable to put car in neutral or get off of road. Tow truck called and had to be drug onto flatbed. Garage replaced battery and still unable to start. Needed to replace timing belt, tensioner pulley, water pump, engine short block and heads. Car with only 4088 miles, no s/s of issue prior to incident, etc. Garage not sure what caused issue, best guess is manufacture defect in timing belt. I asked to end lease or for new vehicle, but Acura denied. Car will be returned to me despite my concerns.

Tl the contact owns a 2006 Acura Mdx. The contact stated that there was a failure with the electric power steering and power steering pump. Also, the power steering rack had an internal leak. The vehicle was repaired by david mcdavid Acura plano (4051 w plano pkwy, plano, TX 75093, 972-964-6150) under the contact's independent warranty. Afterwards, the high pressure hose had an internal leak. Although the steering wheel functioned normally, the same dealer diagnosed that the high pressure hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 87,650.

A whining sound is being discovered from the power steering pump/rack area after 30 minutes of drive on highway then slowdowns to the streets. The whining noise gets louder when turning the steering wheel to either left or right (not necessarily all the way). The noise go away after stopping the engine for a couple of hours. Diagnosed at the dealer, found to be a defective part - power steering rack (53601-stx-a01).
