3 Seats problem of the 2020 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 01/31/2025

Acura has failed to repair my vehicle with a known recall for a year. I am told they're prioritizing symptomatic vehicles and have no eta on all others. Why have a recall of a safety feature and not actually handle the recall timely. I prefer not to wait for an injury or incident before this is given the proper attention.

4 Seats problem of the 2020 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 09/29/2024

My 2020 Mdx with less than 52,000 miles (VIN [xxx] ) has a transmission problem. I serviced the SUV as recommended by the dealer regularly and I take very good care . The transmission jerks several times when taking my foot off the gas to slow down within my short drive to and from work. If I parked on a little uphill or downhill roads and switch gear (either forward or reverse), the car jerks and jumps. I mentioned the issue to the dealer 3 weeks ago but of course couldn’t find any issues. Please advise. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

5 Seats problem of the 2017 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 01/09/2024

On January 9, 2024 I was driving this car and was hit on the driver's side of my vehicle , other driver at fault. The driver's side door side curtain airbags appropriately deployed. The door itself was crushed, and I had to be cut out of the car. The malfunction was my seat, the driver's seat of the vehicle. It moved as far forward as possible and I was tightly wedged between the steering wheel and the seat. Even if my door had been possible to open, I would not have been able to escape. I was also not able to drive in that position, so the car remained in active traffic for some time. I believe this is a design/manufacturing defect with regard to that seat and potentially other seats in the vehicle. I write at this time, over a year later, with the concern that this design flaw may be present in other Acura / Honda vehicles. I wrote to Acura at the time but they did not seem very interested.

6 Seats problem of the 2018 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 05/22/2023

My 2018 Acura Mdx seat comes out of place while driving. I am concerned it may completely disengage from the base and prevent me from stopping or accelerating. It has become increasingly worse since I brought this problem to the dealer. There is a recall on 2018 Acura Mdx for the seat base failure due to rivets becoming damaged after manufacture installation. My 2018's VIN number however is not part of this recall even though the problem with the rivets becoming damaged causing my seat to slip out of place and move while driving. This was confirmed by the dealer through a diagnostic test I paid to confirm it. My drivers seat is unstable and "slips" out of place while accelerating and braking and this happens constantly while driving. I complained about this to the dealer and called Honda America. The dealer confirmed that the seat base rivets are in fact damaged causing the seat to move while accelerating or braking. I asked why my car is not part of the known recall with Honda America even though the problem is the same safety issue that Honda recalled other 2018 Acura Mdx's. They just told me I can check back to see a recall may be issued. It will cost me over 2000. 00 to repair. This is a safety issue Honda America should stand behind because clearly this 2018 Acura Mdx slipped by the inspection and the seat is failing.

7 Seats problem of the 2018 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 03/31/2023

Seat base rivets are damaged and confirmed by dealer upon inspection. There is a recall on this problem for 2018 Acura Mdx but my 2018 Acura Mdx VIN doesn't show to be part of the recall even though the problem with the seat base rivets failing due to improper installation, are the same problem confirmed by the dealer. I was told it was safe to drive by dealer. However the seat constantly clicks out of place when braking and accelerating.

8 Seats problem of the 2017 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 02/02/2023

The driver’s seat is loose. It became loose over time. It moves forward and back by about 1/4” during starts and stops. It gets worse each month. There is a recall for the same thing the next model year.

9 Seats problem of the 2016 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 04/20/2022

My vehicle has been going off on its own when it is off, the lights starts to flicker on the outside and on the dashboard, the seats malfunction on its own so does the steering wheel causing the steering wheel to move up and down adjusting on its own, the car alarm will go off all the time, and I hear a noise coming from under the hood. It’s so bad that I have to take out the battery and leave it cause this problem will continue until the battery is dead, sometimes it will cause all the lights to come on and stay on all night, mean while the vehicle is not even turned on when all this is happening, I search couple video and websites only to see other people having the same problem with this specific type of vehicle, this problem been consistent for months and it makes the car unable to drive.

10 Seats problem of the 2013 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 11/04/2021

Internal vehicle fire started around front passenger seat and burned for an unknown amount time before it extinguished on its own while vehicle was off and parked. Fire department was contacted upon fire discovery and they confirmed it was out, could be electrically related, and disconnected my battery vehicle is available for inspection for the time being (pending insurance). If I or any passenger was in the vehicle they could've been seriously injured or died. There were no warning lamps or issues of any prior problem.

11 Seats problem of the 2019 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 09/12/2019

The internal guts of the drivers and passengers seat are loose and coming apart. Whenever your back moves against the seat the internal workings jiggle. The problem is getting worse the more you use the seats. The jiggling is a safety issue as it feels like the inside of the seat is collapsing.

18 Seats problem of the 2014 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 06/25/2013

We recently purchased (6/25/14) an 2014 Mdx Acura. When the car is in motion (at any speed) and door locks are engaged in the lock position, the door handles open the doors. There is no way to prevent the passenger side door from opening if the inside handle is pulled while the car is in motion. I called the dealer, response was that is the design of the car, I contacted Acura customer care spoke with jeff and was told the same, it's the design of the car to make it easy for the passenger and driver to exit the car. My concern is obvious and the customer care agent agreed, but there is no recourse. If the door handle is pulled while the car is in motion there could be catastrophic injury or accident.

19 Seats problem of the 2010 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 06/15/2012

After purchasing my 2012 Acura Mdx back in April 2012 just a few weeks later of this date my vehicle presented an issue with the driver car seat motor, as in not working properly and safely enough to accommodate the height of the seat to my needs. As soon as this happened I called it in and was requested to bring the vehicle in for repair. Few months went by until the same issue occurred and here I am unable to sit safely and properly due to the seat base not working again. For the second time the vehicle was called in and brought in for a supposed new/original part change. The service dept manager over at Acura of boston had told me the second time that this will fully be repaired and that it shouldn't reoccur. On June 2015 the exact same problem reoccurs and here I am driving around with a pillow because the seat base is not working at all therefore seat cannot be leveled to my height. I am extremely tired and very disappointed with this vehicle due to this ongoing problem which for me seems to be a mechanical defect from the original fabrication.
