36 Headlights problem of the 2014 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 09/01/2020

The headlights at night are extremely dangerous to drive with. There is practically minimum light projected on the road and from the drivers seat can only be seen 3 to 4 feet projecting out from the vehicle. Acura please be accountable! this is a critical design flaw! replacing bulbs with even brighter, high power leds does not fix the issue. The housing projector is flawed. This could be a fatal issue!!!.

39 Headlights problem of the 2015 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 07/16/2020

I bought a used 2015 Acura Rdx at an Acura dealership June 2020 with less than 48k miles. I bought it in as is condition. I thought since it was from a dealership, I thought everything that needed repair would have been fixed. It was during the day when I bought and didn't have to drive at night several days. When I drove it at night I could barely see the street, the passenger side, I thought was not lit at all. The low beam visibility was horrrible. I felt I was in a very dangerous situation and had to drive with high beam on. I took it to a shop a few days later and was told the whole headlight unit had to be replaced. I didn't believe them thinking that they only want to make money from me. Several days later, I took it to another shop and had both low beam light bulbs replaced. After the work was done the shop manager told me the passenger low beam headlight was not burned out and it was not the bulb that was my oroblem. I needed to replace my headlight housing assemblies the cost of which is $800 a piece for just the parts alone.

40 Headlights problem of the 2015 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 07/01/2020

Low beam headlights are very dim on my Acura Rdx. It's very hard to see the road at night and as such it is unsafe for driving at night. I have had the bulbs replaced twice and the lenses professionally buffed. The Acura dealership said that they cannot repair and would need to replace both headlight assemblies at a ridiculous cost. No problems with high beams, only low beam.

41 Headlights problem of the 2014 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 06/27/2020

We purchased out vehicle a little over a month ago, because of the pandemic had not driven it at night until this past weekend. When returning home from out of state, it started getting dark lights were turned on as it got darker we could notice that you couldn't see anything in front of you unless you has the high beams on, which is not safe to drive with on a major highway. It was very frightening getting home without getting into an accident. When I checked there was a recall jn2 issued for this same problem. The recall states the following "consequence: delamination of the aluminum film may diminish output of the headlight, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace both of the headlights, free of charge" but when I checked my VIN # was not part of the recall, which I don't understand why since what the recall states is what is happening with our car. I've called and keep getting the runaround, and I keep getting told there are no recalls for that VIN# well maybe there should be. I just want my car fixed to avoid a major accident a fatality.

42 Headlights problem of the 2014 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 05/05/2020

Both driver and passenger low beam headlights illumination has decreased significantly to the point it is unsafe to drive at night. It does not provide proper lighting to illuminate road, road signs or other vehicles. The illumination does not change if vehicle is stationary or while driving. Veh. Has 80k miles and it appears its is a common problem with Acuras of this year and model. Installed new bulbs and it is still too dim. Vehicles will flash their lights at me thinking I do not have my low beams on but I do they just suck. In my research, it appears that there is an issue with a reflective area inside the headlight assembly that affects the brightness of the bulbs. I believe this has been recalled on a another Acura model about the same age. I also understand that the only solution is to replace the entire headlight assembly which cost over a couple thousand each. The glass cover over the front of the headlight is also fogged or yellowed a bit with age but not concerning. I have noticed this problem since summer of 2020 but now it is to the point that I do not drive my car at night and have to borrow family members' vehicles due to my and others safety.

43 Headlights problem of the 2015 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 05/04/2020

Light output of 2015 Acura Rdx is very low due to bad foil in projector headlights. I have swtiched bulbs but that did not make much different. This is a safety hazard to drive at night with poor visibility. I talked to Acura dealer and they refused to replace it since there is not recall for this particular issue.

44 Headlights problem of the 2014 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 05/01/2020

The contact owns a 2014 Acura Rdx. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,000.

45 Headlights problem of the 2013 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 04/01/2020

The contact owns a 2013 Acura Rdx. The contact stated while driving at night at an undisclosed speed, the headlight bulbs illumination was extremely dim. The contact stated that the brightness of the headlight bulbs was not adequate for driving. The contact stated that after the second replacement of the headlight bulbs, the front passenger’s side headlight was dimmer than the driver’s side headlight. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and was diagnosed, and the mechanic determined that the daytime running light on the front passenger’s side of the vehicle needed to be replaced. The contact stated the headlights had been replaced twice. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that she was responsible for replacing the headlamps out of pocket. 46 Headlights problem of the 2015 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 04/01/2020

My headlights are too dim to safely drive on the road at night due to a manufacturing defect (either poor materials or poor workmanship). There is zero visibility at night. This is a known issue with a recall for the same year vehicle of the rlx, the Rdx has not been recalled for unknown reasons although it has the same safety issue.

47 Headlights problem of the 2014 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 03/16/2020

The halogen headlights (low beams) on the base degrade to the point that they are not bright enough for nighttime driving. Even high beams are barely effective. Replacing bulbs does not resolve the issue.

48 Headlights problem of the 2015 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 03/01/2020

The contact owns a 2015 Acura Rdx. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the low beam headlights were significantly dim, preventing the contact from properly seeing the roadway ahead. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that several passenger’s in the vehicle had inquired whether the low beam headlights were on while the contact was driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the bulbs were replaced several times; however, the failure persisted. The dealer informed the contact that it was a known failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

49 Headlights problem of the 2015 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 02/13/2020

The low beam headlights have gotten steadily dimmer over the last year. My lights are so dim, people ask me if they are on. On roads with street lights, I can't tell the lights are on and on unlit country roads, I can barely see they are working. I spent over $100 replacing the bulbs with no improvement. In my research, it appears that there is an issue with a reflective area inside the headlight assembly that affects the brightness of the bulbs. I believe this has been recalled on a another Acura model about the same age. I also understand that the only solution is to replace the entire headlight assembly which cost over $1,000 each. The glass cover over the front of the headlight is not fogged or yellowed with age like some cars get. I don't have any pictures or documents that would help. This is something you have to experience in order to understand but I will gladly try to provide anything that might help.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

52 Headlights problem of the 2014 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 12/12/2019

The headlights are way too dim - even after changing bulbs and the lens is not fogged at all. You can't even tell if your lights are on at night - this is a serious safety issue. Other Acura vehicles have a recall for this. In research - the reflective coating that is supposed to illuminate your beams breaks down in a short time resulting in poor lighting of roadways at night. Recently had someone in the car for the 1st time driving at night - and they asked if I had my lights on. So it is very noticeable by people. Is there not a standard of lighting that has to be met for safety? and if this is issue - should it not be a recall?? look at ilx recall for same issue- 2013-2014.

53 Headlights problem of the 2014 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 12/01/2019

Headlights are on but absolutely no visibility on the road at night. Head light enclosure is clear and not fogged over. Severe safety issue. Other Acura and Honda headlights on other models have been recalled for same issue.

54 Headlights problem of the 2015 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 11/15/2019

The contact mentioned that the hi-beam headlights needed to be activated to clearly see the roadway. The approximate failure mileage was 82,300.

55 Headlights problem of the 2014 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 11/08/2019

My 2014 Acura Rdx running/low beam headlights are dangerously dim. I first noticed this last year and changed out the halogen bulbs. I do not do much driving at night. In the past month with the time change, I can barely see at night while driving. The halogen bulb has been changed out again, so its not the bulb. It is something within the headlight assembly itself - very difficult to drive at night. At times I must turn on the high beams when driving down a dark road. This cannot be fixed without purchasing new complete headlight assemblies.

56 Headlights problem of the 2015 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 10/28/2019

The headlights are not bright enough to pass state safety inspection and it's almost impossible to drive at night due to limited visibility. After replacing the lightbulbs with no change and then closely inspecting the headlight assembly, both the safety inspector technician and Acura service center said it appears to be a defect in the material which has caused damage inside part of the housing. The only option to fix the issue is to replace the assembly which costs over $1300 just for one side. I contacted Acura client services about my 2015 Rdx safety issue and received no help even though there have been multiple vehicle recalls for what appears to be the same problem. (2014-2015 Acura ilx recall 14v323000 and 2014-2015 Acura rlx recall15v301000 ) there are also many complaints and posts by other Acura Rdx owners in Acurazine and other vehicle forums about weak headlights and the danger they create when driving. This should be inspected immediately.

57 Headlights problem of the 2015 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

In motion or parked, the vehicle's headlights on low beam are not bright enough to drive safely. At high speeds especially. The headlights are dim enough that nothing is visible at all past 15 feet in front of the car. Absolutely shocked that Acura is allowing this safety hazard to remain on their reputation. The light that does show is yellowish and not bright at all. Other cars have stopped me three times to ask if I actually had lights turned on. I am at 115,000 miles now, and began noticing it at 90k. If public notices are needed to wake Acura up to their responsibility to recall to fix this problem, I will be happy to spread the news further. Again, shocked.

58 Headlights problem of the 2015 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 10/01/2019

For many years now I have wondered why my headlights were dangerously dim to the point the lights would only light up about 15-20 feet ahead. While driving at night in the rain is almost impossible. There are many write ups about this issue from many others. They also claim to have this corrected you need to replace the entire headlight assembly costing over $2000 from the dealer or less than $1000 if you do it yourself. If you know how. This is dangerous and should be a manufacturer recall to correct this issue as it is a defect of this car.

59 Headlights problem of the 2015 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 09/05/2019

My 2015 Rdx is just over 5 years old and the headlights are so fogged over that it is too dangerous to drive at night and I need to replace them. I took the car into the dealership to have them look at the issue and was quoted over $800 each to replace them. (over $1600 total) the dealer tried some cleaner/polish on them but that didn't help. I've also spent multiple hours using a headlight restoration kit to try to improve this issue to no avail. I've written Acura and they said they won't cover this since it's out of warranty and it's due to "exterior influences". Maybe this type of fogging can occur but it shouldn't happen over this short of a time frame. I don't know exactly when this occurred but first noticed the problem about 8 weeks ago. I have to replace the headlights since it's too dangerous to drive at night or in other limited visibility conditions.

60 Headlights problem of the 2015 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 07/31/2019

In July 2019 I realized the low beam lights were lit but did not emit enough light to see at night. The housing cover is clear. I thought I had an eye problem for at least a year prior but my eye doctor was saying I had 20/20 vision with my glasses. . Two Acura dealerships, an auto repair shop, and an auto parts store could not determine the problem. Acura client relations said the damage was uv rays. They all say both headlight assemblies have to be replaced and cannot be fixed. The dealership where I bought it replaced the bulbs with no improvement. There is no cloudiness or liquid in the assembly. I have not been able to safely drive the car after dusk in over a year. The states attrny office could not resolve.

61 Headlights problem of the 2015 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 05/02/2019

Llow beam headlights have dimmed over time (car was just over 4 years old) to the extent that it is no longer safe to operate vehicle at night without using high beam lights. Replacing bulbs does not correct the problem. Dealer and dsm rep agree there is a problem but will only repair for over $1,000. There was a recall for similar issue on different model. Many complaints online for this issue.

62 Headlights problem of the 2019 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 03/21/2019

Acura has a television ad where they aim the Acura Rdx headlights directly at the viewer. It is painful, even on tv. These headlights violate the un treaty on torture. Acura must immediately recall these headlights and replace with soft, incandescent bulbs that do not cause psychological torture and eye damage.

63 Headlights problem of the 2015 Acura RDX

Failure Date: 02/01/2019

The reflective material in the headlights has deteriorated to the point that night time driving is hazardous. I have replaced the regular bulb and it did not resolve the issue, I then replaced the reg bulb with an led light and it did not resolve the issue. Without a good reflector surface, the light will not safely function. Replacement costs are well over $1,200 and I should not have to pay for this poor choice in reflective material in the 2015 Rdx headlights. The rxl 2014 model was recalled for the same issue. I believe that the same problem is what I am experiencing. I can no longer safely drive at night unless I turn on the bright lights which will blind the oncoming traffic and also is not safe. I should not have to pay for a defective headlight on this vehicle.

64 Headlights problem of the 2013 Acura RDX
