I was driving on a highway going at 65 - 70 mph when the car completely stalled causing me to try to move across 3 lanes with the engine shut down. I could not start. Almost got rear ended by a semi. This happed a few times. I checked the trouble code and it pointed to fuel rail pressure too low. Which means problem with the fuel pump. For some reason my VIN does not show a fuel pump recall. Please help. VIN: 5j8tc2h76kl022427 the trouble code fuel rail pressure too low p0087.

The vehicle should be included in the recall for similar makes and models with the same issue. I almost crashed on the freeway because my high fuel pressure pump stopped working.
About about a year ago I received notification that the fuel pump impeller was improperly moulded and this could cause the car to shut down. This could cause accidents. Well, I have called Acura and Honda dealerships a multiple times and they give me the run around. Some say wait for mail stating that I should schedule an appointment. I never received such letter. Other dealers didn’t even look up my VIN number and said that the one I was giving them was wrong. It is imperative that this gets repaired because I drive about 144 miles a day Monday to Friday and Honda is not helping. My VIN number is [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

The car jerks right at 20mph in traffic every time as long as you continue to drive. When you pull over, turn the car off, restart the car the problem stops. I’ve had this problem off and on for the last two years and it’s getting worse.
I have received the recall notice from american Honda motor company regarding the recall number 23v-858 for my Acura Rdx 2018 fuel pump recall. My car had symptoms described by the recall: could not start the engine as well as losing drive power. I didn't record the exact days the incident occurred but it was early in 2024. Acura told me the fuel pump replacements were available and sent to their dealers but it was not the case. I have contact local Acura dealers in san diego and they said they have not received the Acura Rdx fuel pumps from manufacture. I also contacted the Acura dealer in tustin where I bought the vehicle. The service manager, jennifer flores, told me they have never received the Acura Rdx fuel pumps replacements as promised from american Honda motor. Please help me to ask american Honda motor why they said fuel pumps are available but none of their dealers received it. I called the american Honda motor and they said the fuel pumps are available but dealers said otherwise. What is going on with american Honda motor? they are putting their customer lives in jeopardy. Please help me as well as other american fellows too.
The contact owns a 2020 Acura Rdx. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle the vehicle failed to start as intended. The vehicle returned to normal functionality but the failure reoccurred. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign 23v858000 (fuel system, gasoline); the VIN was included but the remedy was not yet available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown.

My car is experiencing intermittent starting issues due to low fuel pressure from my fuel pump. I am able to start my car by cycling it into accessory mode and letting it set and pressure up before finally starting it. If I didn’t do this, I could eventually have issues with my starter. My mechanic informed me of a recall for Acura Rdx models 2017-2019, my car is a 2015 but with the exact same fuel pump! Acura won’t release the sell of said pump because it is “currently under a recall”. The recall needs to be expanded to include earlier models of this car. I currently have a warranty on my vehicle so I’d like the repair to be done but I can’t even purchase the pump from Acura at this time because of the recall. Make it make sense?!.

It is progressively getting worse where my fuel injection is not working and when trying to accelerate and merge into traffic it bogs down and I almost get hit by the car behind me.
On October 31, 2024, I was nearing the end of a three hour trip. I was traveling on a rural two-lane highway with a 55 mph speed limit. I had just pulled away from a 4-way stop intersection and was following a single vehicle traveling 40 mph. Once I could see there was a safe distance from oncoming traffic, I decided to pass the slower vehicle. As I moved into the opposite lane and accelerated, the engine lost power and barely made it around the car I was passing. If oncoming traffic had been closer there could have been a head-on collision. The engine light started flashing and I had to keep the accelerator pressed half way to the floor to maintain 50 mph. There was no shoulder on the road and no place to pull over, so I continued for 15 minutes with engine light blinking and struggling to maintain 50 mph. No other warning lights came on and the engine was not overheating. When I reached my destination I turned the engine off and then restarted it. The flashing engine light was gone and the car drove fine. The nearest Acura dealer was an hour away so I took the car to my dealer when I returned from my trip. They test drove the vehicle and called the Acura tech line. They could not duplicate the problem. They said they did not find any diagnostic codes so there was nothing they could do. They said if it happens again to bring it back. If it happens again I might not live to tell the story!.

I received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v858000 (fuel system, gasoline) for my 2019 Acura Rdx; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer, smithtown Acura, has been contacted on numerous occasions since early spring with no firm date on part availability. Acura has exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. It appears that Acura is delaying compliance in anticipation that more of the affected vehicles are taken off market, therefore, lessening the number of repairs. Is NHTSA, or any other regulatory agency, expediting, or following up with Acura, for status? my current mileage is 54,700. I do not want to be caught in a situation as a result of dereliction of recall compliance.
My 2018 Rdx has started to jerk when I stop and then restart. I have noticed some hesitation and a bit of jerky driving but today it was very noticeable. I could barely go above 40 miles an hour after I started driving after a stop light and the car was very jerky. It seems to be either a fuel pump or transmission issue. I am going to check with the Rdx dealership where I bought the car in 2018 but I wanted to report the issue. I also looked up the VIN on my car for a recall and the system said my car had not been recalled. Not sure why my 2018 Rdx is different from other 2018 Rdx models that were recalled.
The car hesitates to start and while driving jerks at around 20mph. This happened a few times in the last year. When taken to dealer, because they could not reproduce incident, said it can’t be diagnosed. I told them it jerks when accelerating at around 20mph and keeps doing it every time I have to stop at light and go again.
The car stalls at random times. Other times you press the gas and there is a significant delay in acceleration. Acura and the dealer have failed to provide the part even though I have asked for it since last February. It is ridiculous. Are you people charged with enforcement?.
There is acceleration hesitation every time when I'm driving. The car seems to "catch" as it's accelerating and is very "jerky". The issue has gotten worse over time. I take my care to Acura for a second time next week to see if I can get it officially diagnosed; however, I've already been told there are no parts available and I'll just be "put on a list". This recall was announced in Dec 2023 and it's now sept 2024 so I don't understand how this delay is acceptable. The additional details that I need to provide below only allow me to enter one date. I started noticing the issue last year and as I said it's gotten progressively worse. I last drove yesterday so used that date but it's been going on for about a year.
This recall has been out for over a year and is ridiculous.
My vehicle stopped in the middle of the road as I took exit from the highway. I was almost rear ended as I was entering the parking lot . The vehicle just stalled. I took it the Acura dealership for fix and they have not taken care of recall issue. I am being asked to spend money on fixing other electrical errors first before they fix the recall on my vehicle.
On Thursday 27/7/2024 5:00pm-6:00pm, Acura Rdx abruptly started to slow down. When I press the accelerator, the car will not accelerate. Finally, my car came to an complete stop. Then I turned on hazard sign and changed the gear on p from d. After that I started car. The car started normally and then I drove to my destination. I also experienced the similar issue in may, 2024.
Im writing to let you know that Acura is saying that this replacement part is not available until fall 2024! this seems to be quite a long time to wait for a part that if not replaced poses a severe safety issue.
Safety issue recall faulty fuel pump module causes hesitation and needs replacement, but cannot cannot schedule service as parts are not available.
On a long road trip (2/11/2024-2/19/2024) from milwaukee, WI to bowling green, ky. And from from bowling green, ky to orlando, FL. While driving from bowling green, ky about 8 hours into the drive, we were in a massive rain storm which started in atlanta, GA. And did not end until we crossed into florida. About 60 miles past the border of florida traveling on i75, I needed to over-ride the cruise control traveling at about 80 mph and allow for a merging vehicle, so I pressed hard on the accelerator and the vehicle essentially shut off and the mil was flashing. I was in the left lane (two lane highway at this point) traffic was moving quickly, but fortunately I was able to merge safely across traffic to the right shoulder without causing an accident because the vehicle was slowing at a rapid rate. The vehicle came to a stop on the shoulder with my wife and two kids freaking out. I shut off the vehicle, successfully restarted the vehicle and accelerated into traffic. Fortunately this did not happen in the mountain pass where there is no shoulder to pull into.
Why has Acura not been able to service the vehicle recall noted above? I've been told it is 6 months out. . . . . Help please! what is NHTSA doing to improve this situation.
I was passing another vehicle around 45mph when I had a loss of power in acceleration. Acceleration was limp went down to 10mph engine light came on. I had to pull off road. Shut car off then restarted. Engine light went off. But acceleration is weak. Unable to maneuver away from an emergency situation if need to. Dangerous to drive it like this. I will take it to dealership but know they' never find any issues!.
On 2-10-2024 I was driving the 2021 Rdx sh-awd on I-40w in TN with my daughter in the passenger's seat. It was raining. After about 2 hours of driving, at about 3:00 pm, I took a break at a rest area near buffalo valley. After ~20-min rest, I restarted the car and tried to merge back onto I-40w. I was accelerating towards the speed limit of 70 m/h, but suddenly, at about 65m/h, I felt the car losing power. I could not speed up anymore: the car did not respond to the gas pedal and the speed dropped to about 40m/h. The orange engine light started to flash on the dashboard. A truck nearly piled on me from behind. Cars and trucks from behind had to switch lanes quickly to avoid collision. I was able to pull over to the shoulder and stopped with my emergency light on. I turned off the engine for about 10 minutes, then I restarted the car again and got back on the road. This time, everything seemed normal, but I was so scared and worried the car might suddenly not respond again. Fortunately, I was able to get home eventually without any additional problems.

I received a notice from Acura that the defective fuel pump replacement parts are now available and I should schedule the free repair with my dealership. When I called my Acura dealer (chapman Acura) in tucson, az I was told they did not have any parts. When I asked if they could let me know when they would be available, I was informed they did not know when any replacement parts would be available and that I should call back in a few weeks. Chapman Acura is the only Acura dealer in tucson, az.
Near the first of the year 2024 I received a fuel pump recall notice for my 2019 Acura Rdx. To date, no parts for addressing this issue have been available and no timeline has been made available as to when parts would be available. I am planning my annual trip to the eastern sierra in early September where no Acura dealer is available nearby. Should the fuel pump fail during that trip it would be a significant inconvenience for me, including interruption of medical appointments, room and board expenses, pet sitting expenses, etc. , as I have been told by Honda that in such an emergency situation the car would have to be towed to the nearest dealership, with the part being specially ordered which would take 2 weeks and that I may be responsible for my room and board, and other costs during that period. I find this behavior to be outrageous. Additionally I have been told by my local dealer that it is not possible to determine possible failure beforehand as either it is working or it has failed. This is totally opposite from what I was told by Honda which was to schedule an appointment with a dealer to determine the status of the fuel pump so that they could special order one for replacement if it demonstrated potential failure. This entire issue reeks of poor and ineffective management of this situation by Honda, likely putting costs over safety putting me at substantial risk for this trip that was planned a year ago and likely will cost me my deposit and access privileges if canceled. As such, I am requesting that NHTSA hold Honda/Acura accountable for this disgraceful behavior, putting owners of their vehicles at substantial risk, and demand that they explore and take immediate actions to resolve the parts shortage in a reasonable amount of time.
Received a recall notice in December 2023 about the fuel Acura fuel pump motor recall. Since then I have received several notices from Acura but the parts are not available when I contact the dealership to schedule service. They claim the parts have not been made available to the dealerships. However the oem part is available for purchase from several parts suppliers. This is not acceptable.
Safety concerns with 2015 Acura Rdx engine. My vehicle has experienced multiple serious engine failures beginning December 8, 2023, when it suddenly lost power while driving with a flashing check engine light. Despite multiple repair attempts by mcdaniel's Acura dealership (timing belt replacement, spark plugs, front cylinder head replacement, pulley replacements), the issues have persisted and worsened. Technicians found oil in cylinders 1&3, metal debris in the oil filter, and diagnosed the engine as failing in may 2024. Current symptoms include white smoke from the tailpipe, engine rattling, and ongoing risk of sudden failure. This vehicle was leased new in 2015, purchased after lease term, and consistently maintained at Acura dealerships. Despite opening two cases with Acura client relations (#14622769 on April 29 and #14633862 on may 6, 2024), Honda financial declined assistance. The dealership only offered a trade-in "incentive" while admitting they couldn't resell my vehicle due to its condition, and would instead auction in off. I'm unable to safely use this as my primary transportation. Similar engines have had multiple recalls between 2018-2023, including a December 2023 recall of 2. 6 million vehicles for fuel pump issues and recalls for connecting rod bearings in similar engines. In November 2024, NHTSA began investigating 1. 4 million Honda/Acura v6 engines for rod bearing failures. I request NHTSA investigate whether this represents a broader safety defect affecting other Acura Rdx vehicles. Service records from December 2023-may 2024 are attached as documentation of all repair attempts and diagnoses by authorized Acura technicians.
There was a recall for the fuel pump modules but the parts are not available at any dealership in my area and this is going on over a year. Acura keeps sending me direct mail that there is an issue but there is no solution.
I purchased this Acura Rdx model in 2019 and exported it to europe, moldova. Last Saturday when I just started moving my car accidentely got stall and repaier service reported the fuel pump crash. I've start researching and learned that fuel pump issue is recognised by Acura and they do a change for this part. As I live in the republic of moldova is there a chance to receive this part? I can send you back the deffective part as well. Thank you, vitalie.
My car has been shaking on acceleration but no engine light or any warning popped up. When I called an Acura dealership, they said they would have trouble diagnosing the problem without a light on. A few days later, while accelerating on the highway, my car started shaking violently and lost power. The engine light started flashing. I could have gotten into an accident because I could no longer accelerate on the highway. I had to slowly pull off to a safe stop. This could have been a dangerous and life-threatening situation. Someone could have crashed into me behind me and I could not quickly get into a safe area. I brought it to an Acura dealership and they could not find anything. The engine light had turned off. Though, when I took the car again, the car was still shaking on acceleration. I was afraid to drive at normal speeds since it is extremely safe. I took it to another personal mechanic and he was able to reproduce the problem. He saw there is a service bulletin out for just this problem. The possible cause is “humid air within the intake tract may condense and accumulate excessive moisture during steady driving. ” I would have to replace the intercooler system and get the pgm-FL software updated. This is a safety issue, and Acura has not released any recalls on this. The dealerships are also saying it will not be covered by warranty for me.
We experienced loss of power in heavy interstate traffic. We had been driving in the rain for some time on I-10 in florida. We were in the right lane behind a vehicle that was traveling much slower than other vehicles. There was a gap in vehicles in the left lane so I signaled and pressed the gas pedal significantly so I could quickly get up to a matching speed for the left-lane vehicles. At this point the engine stumbled a couple of times and the check engine light began flashing. No matter how hard I pressed the gas pedal, my vehicle would not accelerate. Cars behind us had to brake quickly to avoid hitting us from behind. I turned on my emergency flashers and made my way to the right-side breakdown lane. After stopping, I turned our vehicle off and restarted the engine. No warning lights were lit and I was able to resume our drive. This is a known issue with our vehicle and other Acura/Honda vehicles. There is an existing Acura technical service bulletin (TSB), 20-053, that addresses this issue. This TSB was applied to my vehicle in March of 2021. Apparently, the TSB has not resolved the issue. This is a serious safety issue. At the very least, the car behind us could have hit us and this could have caused a multi-vehicle accident. If a semi had been behind us and couldn't stop quickly, we could have been killed. In online discussions there are a number of people that have experienced this issue. This is not an isolated incident and should be investigated.
Car engine turned on and suddenly shut off as I was pulling onto a highway from a store driveway. As it was sudden and unexpected, as well as the first occurrence, this is highly dangerous to driver and passengers in the car. Problem confirmed by aaa auto repair shop, confirming it was due to a fuel pump failure . This car year, make and model is on recall for this exact item but my car is not on the list, despite the recent event. Dealer refusing to pay for replacement stating it’s not on the recall list. Insurance will be contacted shortly.
On 02/25/2023 our car abruptly stalled on us while driving without any warning in a remote area out of state over 3 hours away from our residence at night with temperatures below freezing with a minor in the car. We were lucky it happened on a back road and not on highway with hi velocity just an hour earlier because this would have killed us. The car came to a complete stall in the middle of the road, the red battery sign came on and the car would not start. We had a very poor cell phone reception, it took us over 3 hours to get a tow track, by the time the truck arrived we were shivering from cold. The car is impossible to put in neutral while in full stall that makes removing car from the road and towing near impossible. The car got towed to the nearest Acura repair center in PA. We were left with no car with a minor in the middle of the night in the cold out of state with very limited financial resources. As of now the car is still at the repair shop in PA, we are back in maryland without any vehicle. The repair shop told us that there is no fuel pressure and it is likely fuel pump failure, that has already been reported and recalled on other Acura Rdx 2019, but for some reason is not associated with our VIN. This is a major safety concern with a faulty part on a 4 years old car that could have potentially killed us and now is putting unimaginable financial, logistical and emotional hardship on us being left without a vehicle out of state and absolutely no timeline on when this very costly repair will be done due to unavailability of the part. Please issue a recall on this VIN ASAP before somebody will get hurt. It seems to be problem with many Acura Rdx 2019 cars and is calling for much larger recalls then previously issued NHTSA recalls: 21v-215 fam 2019-20 Rdx fuel pump motor safety recall expansion and 20v-314 s7d2019 /rdx fuel pump motor safety recall. This same exact fuel pump failure is reported all over the internet in forums and Rdx 2019 reviews.
Once again, 3 weeks after the first time it happened, my 2019 Acura Rdx lost all power and I had to drift to the side of the road. This occurred on the baldwin beach express and luckily there is not a lot of traffic this time of year so I could get on the shoulder. Car would not restart, all lights around the speedometer had come on. I had to have it towed to the Acura dealership in mobile where it was towed the first time when this happened. At that time the told me they could not duplicate the problem. Three weeks later it has happened again . The tow truck driver tried to start the car and said " you're not getting any fuel" and asked if the fuel pump had been checked. Supposedly it has been replaced when it was first recalled. Could it be another faulty fuel pump? my question. . . . How dangerous would this be if this happened in the I-10 mobile tunnel?????? the first time it happened I tried to call Acura but the complaint department is not open on sundays. This time it happened on a Friday and I was able to file my complaint. Will I get a response to this event now that it has happened a second time?.
When I am stopped the vehicle routinely lurches as I touch the gas. I’ve complained to the dealer about it and they can’t reproduce the problem. It does lurch for my husband also. It hasn’t caused any injuries or damage, so far.
