While driving on interstate 65 headed towards mobile, al. My 2019 Acura Rdx lost all power. Every light surrounding the speedometer was lighted. No power, nothing. . Was able to coast from the right hand lane to the shoulder of the interstate. . No power steering and I was moving slower and slower because I was on a hill. Frightening to say the least. If I had been in the left hand lane I’m not sure I could have made it to the shoulder. And if a truck had been behind me an unable to change lanes I would have been smashed. Car towed to dealership.

Honda motor CO. Is recalling certain 2017-2020 model year Acura vehicles. The fuel pump impeller was improperly moulded, resulting in low density impellers. Over time, the low-density impeller can deform and interfere with the fuel pump body, rendering the fuel pump inoperative. If the fuel pump is inoperative, the engine may not start or can stall while driving, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Nhtsa #23v-858. Recall #kgd Acura fuel pump motor. On 12/22/22, I was driving in a 2021 Rdx sh-awd with my pregnant wife and 2 year old son from media PA to pittsburgh PA . It was rainy and 35-40 degrees f the whole drive. Approximately 4 hours into the drive we stopped at a rest stop on the PA turnpike to get gas. While attempting to merge back onto the turnpike from the service road to the right of the turnpike, a truck was coming up behind me in the right hand lane of the turnpike. I was traveling approximately 40mph on the service road, so I went to accelerate to safely complete the merge in front of the truck. Near the end of my acceleration sequence (I estimate I had gotten to approx 65mph) my car went into “limp mode”. I felt an unexpected and immediate loss of power and my check engine light/“mil” began flashing yellow. I was luckily able to barely avoid a collision with the truck that was approaching. After the light started flashing I was unable to turn the knob to switch drive modes (it was in snow mode at the time this all happened). I was unable to do anything but attempt to drive to safety with severe power loss. I was able to coast my car with minimal accelerator response to the next exit off the turnpike and into a motel parking lot. I shut down the car and then turned it back on. When I turned it back on, the mil light was no longer flashing and I had normal power restored to the vehicle, but interestingly the auto stop/start feature no longer worked. I was able to drive the remainder of the way to pittsburgh without any further loss in power, though I was anxious the entire drive considering the major malfunction I had just experienced while attempting a merge at highway speeds. The vehicle only had approx 10,500 miles on it at the time of the incident. The vehicle is currently at the dealership being diagnosed. A case has also been opened directly with Acura/Honda.

While driving on I-95 north, the check engine light began flashing on and off. We had been driving in a thunderstorm for approximately 100 miles, when it began flashing. Then suddenly the car began slowing down. There was no response to repeatedly stepping on the gas pedal. As the car slowed down I was able to get over to the shoulder, and put the car in park. Again trying to get a response by stepping on the gas pedal, but there was no response. I shut the engine off, then restarted the car. The car ran fine, after I restarted it. I continued my drive from florence SC to NY, and then returned from NY to florida without any further incident.
1. On dash flashing air bag system off 2. Upon acceleration and getting up to speed it missing like bad gas but its not. I use required premium. 3. Not shifting properly upon acceleration of speed properly.

One week ago 6-20-22, my car started to ‘chug’ and slow down as I was accelerating up a hill on a highway. It was almost as if my car was losing power. When this happened about 10 warnings signs came up on my dash. I drove it directly to the dealership. They replaced my oil saying the pressure was low. All was well for the day after 6-21 when driving it home from dealership. On 6-22 I went to merge onto a local highway from a stop sign with traffic coming at 55-65 mph. My car would not accelerate over 25 and I was unable to pull of. Thankfully I pulled off onto the next exit. I could have easily been rear ended and hurt. This issue since will go away if I shut off my car and turn it back on, but not every time. It is still chugging and losing power when I drive and all the errors on the dashboard are coming up randomly. I drive a lot everyday for work and this problem is really scaring me knowing I or others could get hurt.
Upon rapid acceleration, pushing the gas pedal down, the engine light started blinking and the car went into limp mode losing all power. This was a serious concern because we had just got off the interstate and if we had been full speed attempting to pass a vehicle, we could have been in a serious accident due to failure of power.
It was raining and I was accelerating hard to pass a slow vehicle when the engine malfunction light started blinking and I lost power and could no longer accelerate. I had to pull over into an empty driveway. Had I not been able to pull over into a driveway, I would have been stuck on a 2 lane road with a 55 mph speed limit and no way to get the car completely off the road, endangering myself, any passengers, and others traveling the road. The car has only 28,000 miles on it and is at the dealership right now being inspected. The only warning light turned on when the problem started, blinked a few times, and then turned itself off, but I still had no acceleration and could not get the car above 10 mph.
Car lost power while driving causing me to crash into the side of the road way causing damage to my front passenger side. Car stutters and shuts off while driving very dangerous.
11/6/mid way home from a trip from washington to connecticut on the new jersey turnpike in the left-hand lane the car lost all ability to accelerate. Concurrently the engine like came on and multiple warning signals came on regarding traction control, breaking, and steering. One can imagine how unsettling that could be but at that moment. Being in the left lane it was apparent I needed to get off the road. With cars traveling at 65+ mph and my car decelerating continuously changing lanes was nearly catastrophic and the last lane I needed to move over to nearly resulted in a multi car accident 11/8/2021 I was contacted by the service manager at the towed to Acura dealer. They informed me that the evaluation determined a need for an “intercooler" this breakdown of my car with less than 20,000 miles on it was under warranty . More importantly, my understanding of this problem is that the car is engineered to power down under these circumstances to protect the engine and or transmission. I would have imagined that when a warning like comes on it would not result in an instantaneous power down action. Put quite simply it appears the car was more interested in protecting itself than the occupants. This is egregious. Acura has failed to address my concern or help now about 1 month out.
The fuel pump was replaced in July 2020 due to a safety recall. That new pump failed on October 2021. No fuel pump fails so quickly unless the pump has same situation. Dealer replaced pump but charged me for part and labor of their own bad job form July 2020. I was lucky that it failed while I was moving at a slow speed in a safe place.
Vehicle went into limp mode while I was accelerating up to speed onto a highway crossing lanes and driving uphill. All acceleration stopped, and the vehicle quickly decelerated due to being on a steep hill. It was not raining at the time. I had moved into the leftmost lane, and luckily there was a left shoulder to pull the car onto. The check engine light came on and was flashing. I turned the car off and back on, and it started. There could have been a very bad accident.
While traveling to my dealer on interstate 69 in indiana, in the rain, I had to accelerate to avoid a conflict with a truck. When I pushed the accelerator to the floor, the check engine light came on and the car went into limp mode. I had to pull to the shoulder and restart the car to continue. The dealer provided me a loaner 2021 Acura Rdx, VIN #5j8tc2h5xml023677 with 740 miles on the odometer, which experienced the same phenomena, check engine light coming on in the rain under acceleration, when I was attempting to merge onto interstate 69 at illinois road in indiana. Pulling over to restart the engine allowed me to continue.
Vehicle constantly surges during acceleration, seems as if the transmission is bad however, it also feels as if the fuel filter is clogged. This sputter occurs at various speed. Vehicle has less than 64,000 miles. Is there a fix to this issue?.

It was mildly raining and I went to accellerate onto the highway and all a sudden without warning the car started to violently shake and stutter and the car lost all power and I was almost hit by another car because I lacked power. The vehicle then refused to accelerate and I had to dangerously glide off the highway without power and the vehicle had to be towed. Every check engine light came on. I then had the vehicle fixed and they said it was a problem with an engine coil. Three weeks later in the same situation in the mild rain the exact same problem happened again. I went to get on the highway in a mild rain the car broke down the exact same way. I am waiting for it get diagnosed again.
Brand new with 4000 miles. It went limp, stalled and went to neutral while driving, had to stop by the side of the road and restart to reset. And it went limp on highway at 70 mph, continue to decelerate rapidly and did not respond to gas and went limp, engine did not rev up with any amount of gas. It only responded when I set the cruise and hand accelerate that way. Dangerous and scared to drive it.
This car has just 10,000 miles. When the car started it suddenly over accelerated over 5800 rpm and the engine had to be turned off. Every time the engine was started the motor over running above the 5800rpm. The car was towed to the Acura repair shop. The Acura's mechanic do not find anything wrong. I will like to know if there are other Acura' vehicles that have had this same problem and hoe will be fixed.

I was driving on a freeway at 4:30am when I suddenly lost all power from the engine and it went into limp mode. The check engine light was flashing and fortunately there was no traffic so I was able to pull off the road. I shut off the car and sat for a few minutes and when I restarted the car everything was working fine. I had a 12 hour drive ahead of me and I never stopped thinking of how that could have ended up so badly. Later that day as I was driving through atlanta I shuddered to think what could have happened if this lack of propulsion had occurred. My guess, quite bluntly, is that I probably would have been killed. I have read online of this problem happening to a significant number of other people. Acura needs to be held accountable before someone is killed!.
At approximately 10a oct 14th 2020 traveling south bound route 15 in lycoming county PA weather conditions light rain 65deg f driving 2020 Acura Rdx with 2800 miles on odometer. Upon approach of truck traffic in right lane moved into line of faster moving traffic in left lane to pass trucks when the Acura Rdx immediately lost power and speed, almost caused a chain of rear end collisions and the vehicle flashed the engine light on the display and would not maintain more than 25 mph in a 70 mph zone. Left the roadway shut the vehicle off and restarted in approximately three mins and vehicle function was normal for the remaining 40 miles of the trip. Oct 16 2020 contacted Honda motors USA customer service and was told to contact dealer (150 miles away) for diagnosing. Upon some quick research discovered this is a common complaint for many 2019/2020 Acura Rdx owners. This is an obvious safety issue that Acura is aware of and is not addressing. Currently there is no recall and not one owner has had any resolution to date. I request the NHTSA intervene immediately to engage Acura in resolving this critical vehicle design flaw. This is a deadly issue. Thank you.
Car lost all acceleration and went into limp mode attempting to overtake someone on the freeway, accelerating from 60 to 70 mph (in a 70). I had to navigate from left lane to right shoulder across 3 lanes of traffic. Terrifying. Car was remedied after turning off for a few minutes. Of note, this was a long (3+ hour) trip in the rain. A quick search revealed a ton of other Acura owners with a similar issue noting specifically that it doesn't generate an error code thats stored that Honda/Acura can use to troubleshoot. My car was cpo, under a week since purchase, 6,000 miles on the odometer. Crazy there isn't a recall. Very dangerous.
When accelerating on the expressway, the car suddenly lost propulsion without warning. The car would not maintain a speed or accelerate. After the car started to slow down, I had to coast to the shoulder of the expressway and power cycle the car. After restarting the engine and two attempts, the car would still not accelerate.
Driving on a wet day, looking to accelerate out of highway construction merge as traffic opened up, the vehicle went into what I now understand is a known problem (but no recall) called "limp mode. " I felt a bump, almost like a gear shift. The car could not get over 40 mph. I was able to safely exit the highway. Park and restart. The issue seems to have vanished, as I have tested it with increasingly "aggressive" accelerations until I felt comfortable driving again on the highway. It was nonetheless very concerning. This can cause a major accident if it happens at an inopportune time. I have only ever used 93 gas. I've had the car less than 3k miles. It is a certified pre-owned with 23k total. The acceleration I tried was indeed a hard one, but that is what this car is for.
This is the second complaint for this vehicle, the previous complaint was assigned NHTSA id number: 11277657. Similar to the incident that was previously reported, while driving on a highway at a high rate of speed, attempting to pass another vehicle, the car went into limp mode, lost acceleration, steering became difficult, and the check engine light came on. Luckily, we were able to safely get the car into the right hand lane and pull off into the shoulder. We turned the vehicle off and when we turned it back on the vehicle operated normally. As with the previous incident, this occurred in the rain. The car was brought to the dealership and, as with the previous incident, we were told they could not duplicate this issue and the vehicle was returned to us. We were told that if the issue occurs again to bring the vehicle back to the dealership. As stated in my previous complaint, this is an extremely dangerous malfunction that could result in a serious accident. This time my two children were in the car. What is it going to take for Acura to find an acceptable resolution to this problem? how many of these malfunctioning vehicles are on the road???.
The vehicle stalls out (limp mode) when accelerating past 60 mph. It will not go above 3000 rpms. Once that happens, it is difficult to accelerate at all, even at very low speeds. I can press the pedal to the floor and nothing happens. The vehicle shakes considerably when idle.
On 7/22/2020, I was entering the mass pike from I-495 outside of boston. I accelerated to get around a box truck and suddenly the engine light started flashing and the car started to lose power. No matter how much I stepped on the gas, the car kept losing speed. Thankfully, I was near a rest stop and was able to pull to the shoulder (from the middle lane) and had enough momentum to get the car in the parking lot. Thank goodness it was nighttime and with covid, there aren't as many cars on the road. This could have ended very badly for my children and me if traffic levels were what they usually are in that area. As soon as I put the car in park, the engine light went off. I called Acura roadside assistance and turned the car off. Roadside assistance transfered me to an Acura service department on the west coast that was still open. The service tech I spoke to said she never heard of the problem and "maybe" if I turned it off and turned it back on, it might be okay. I also googled and saw that this exact situation has happened to other owners and that after turning the car off and back on again, their cars were fine. I did the same, and the car went back into its normal mode and I was able to drive the rest of the way home without further incident.
Was driving down the highway when my car lost all acceleration and a whole bunch of warning lights went on, steering became hard etc. Got it over to the side of the highway barely. Car wouldn't restart, go into neutral or anything. Apparently the dealership says the radar was fault and killed the car while I was driving it and there was no way to disable the radar. If the radar is faulty it will kill all propulsion and also throw multiple errors in the car creating a hazard for the driver. It seems like this should be a recall.
I received a recall notification on may 28, 2020. I have called three times since June 1, 2020 and I am being told that there are no parts from the manufacturer to repair the recall.
Acura failed to remedy fuel pump safety recall. Reference recalls: may 28 2020 20v314000 March 25 2021 21v215000 December 18 2023 23v858000.
Sudden loss of power while passing on highway followed by numerous system error lights.
On the day 10/27/2016 I purchased a zero mile Acura Rdx 2017 vehicle from bella group at kennedy san juan with transmission issues. It jumps mostly when it passes 20 mhp and when it brakes she jumped as if lowering changes. During the past 3 years I went to Acura service in guaynabo and I told about the transmission and they always told me that it was fine. On 9/3/2020 I took the car and told Acura service every time about the transmission, it was delivered to me as everything was fine which bothered me and I asked for a manager. The manager came and we gave a test drive and in 5 minutes he found the problem, then they give me the service paper informing that on 04/4/2017 Acura informed through a service bulletin 17-017 that the judder from the torque converter which causes that the motor oil burns more than normal causing the transmission to jump. Acura servicio carried out the service bulletin, but as of 3/13/2020 the bus continues with the same problem once it is hot.
2019 Acura Rdx advance sh-awd odometer 12,900 Tuesday 01/14/2020 14:20; lkas on, comfort mode, engine idle stop/start cancelled with the button, 60 deg f. On a 300+ mile road trip, the latter half under heavy rain. Nearing my home, the rain was almost stopped, and as I acceleratedup a long steep grade, the Rdx felt like it ran out of gas. It just sputtered along up the hill until I came to a driveway and turned in. I noticed the engine light was on. I turned off the engine, waited a fewminutes, then it restarted and has been ok since then. I did notice the next day that the idle start/stop function is "unavailable" and the car continues to run with the foot on the brake. I do quite a bit of 2 lane travel, and often must pass slower trafficunder full power. If this situation occurs during a passing maneuver with short site distance, it would be disastrous. Based on this fear, my driving ability is now severely limited until this problem is diagnosed and resolved.
We turned onto the on-ramp of i40 west in arkansas at exit 58 heading west. I accelerated to get up to speed to merge onto the highway. When I reached 70mph the car stopped acceleration and very rapidly slowed to 20mph in front of multiple cars and semi trucks. I was lucky to have been missed by the traffic behind us and was able to get to the right shoulder. The car would not accelerate past 10-20mph. We limped to the next exit and found a parking lot. I turned the car off and back on and it seemed to be working correctly again. My entire family could have easily been killed! during the incident the check engine light came on and remained on until turning the car off and back on.
My car would not start one morning. I could not get it out of "accessory mode" and that mode drained the battery completely. I also smelled fuel when I tried to have it jump started and it ran for 10 seconds then died. I had it towed to an Acura dealer to have it fixed and they called to tell me that the plastic fuel line on the underside of the car had "microcracks" along its entirety and was leaking fuel out of these cracks. They said that the fuel line was not damaged in a discrete location (I. E. From a rock or object that hit it but the entire plastic line spanning the front of the car to the rear of the car had cracks all over it). I asked for the fuel line for evidence and they claimed they threw it out.
On Wednesday, oct 16, 2019, I was driving this Rdx for about 2 hours, and was going south on n carolina rt #171 in a steady rain on a flat road. I drove behind a 18 wheel log truck for 10-15 minutes at 50-55mph before confirming there was no vehicles coming the other way. When it was clear for 1-2 miles, I floored the accelerator to pass the log truck. The Rdx leaped forward at first, but halfway past the log truck the vehicle lost power and slowed to 35-40 mph or so (maybe slower, as I am guessing--- I was not looking at the dash). I was scared that I could not complete my pass of the truck. Fortunately, after 5-10 seconds, the truck driver noticed something was amiss, and he slowed down to let me pass at my slower speed. I pulled off and was grateful for two things. First that no one was coming the other way, as a head on collision could have taken place. Second, that the truck slowed to permit me to pull off on the right shoulder. This took place about 220pm. After pulling to the shoulder, and leaving the Rdx running, I waited for several minutes, and tried to pull forward. The limited power condition remained. And the orange engine symbol continued to appear on the dash. I suspect the orange symbol appeared when I lost power, but I wasn't looking at the dash. After several more minutes, I turned the car off and waited for several more minutes. When the car restarted, the symbol was gone, and regular power had returned. I drove about 100 yards, and then re-entered rt#171 when there was no one coming behind me. The Rdx operated fine then and I completed a 3. 5 hour drive to myrtle beach. I drove normal from there to naples FL over the next 5 days with no issues. But, I didn't try to accelerate by depressing the pedal to the floor in the rain. There was a clear safety incident at 220pm oct 16th. .
