My 2008 Acura Tl type-s, has the same braking problem as that of Toyota prius. It causes brief but frightening delays, especially in slow speed. The problem occurs inconsistently at various intervals. This has been an ongoing problem since I purchased the vehicle in February 2008. I took the car in to the dealership twice to fix the problem. They attempted to fix the problem by finding cloudy fluid in master cylinder and flushed the system. It seemed to work for a couple of weeks but the problem resurfaced. I complained to the Acura client services of inconsistent brake feel during slow and steady application of brakes. In April 2009, they sent a district manager to inspect the brake system. After the manager inspected the fluid level and drove my vehicle for 7 miles, he did not find any problem and stated that the vehicle operated normally. However, the problem still occurs at least 2-3 times a month. Unlike prius, the braking system delays that I experience occur on smooth, paved roads.
The contact owns a 2004 Acura Tl. While driving approximately 55 mph on normal road conditions, the brake pedal extended to the floor when it was depressed. Several attempts were made before the vehicle finally came to a complete stop. The stopping distance was increased. The failure occurred spontaneously. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for inspection and the contact was informed that the master cylinder was the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle is in the process of being taken to an authorized dealer for repair. The VIN was unable to be entered into the system. The failure and current mileages were 73,000.

While driving on interstate 95 in maryland, on a smooth stretch of road, the screw holding the master cylinder bracket onto the rotor came off of the bracket and the entire brake unit came wedged inside of the rim preventing the car from stopping properly. When the car came to a sliding stop on the side of the interstate it was inoperable and had to be towed. When the tire was removed to investigate the damage it was found that the threads on the inside of the bracket that hold the screw were gone. The one screw that did stay attached to the piece has the inside of the threads attached to it.

Vehicle would accelerate due to gas & brake pedals too close when one or the other is in use. If foot not on brake pedal correctly it would unintentionally cause sudden acceleration in vehicle. Has happened twice. Took to dealership & mechanic could not find cause & indicated no mechanic problem. Master cylinder was replaced because of air found in the system.
