Driving along the highway, consumer went to change lanes, and when tapping the brake, the car lurched forward, and picked up acceleration, with the accelerator not being touched. The abs system was not working. The brakes regained working control after about 30 seconds, which caused the consumer to fishtail and try not to have a head-on collision. The car turned 180 degrees around with no brake power. Consumer was driving at 60 mph, when this happened. . . .

Recently, even when driving at about 35 miles an hour and came to a crossroad and braked, the car kept accelarating. Despite having the brakes pressed the car was behaving like a wild bronco. Even when I shifted the automatic gear to park, the engine was racing. After I put of the ignition & then re-started, the problem disappeared.

1999 Acura Tl accelerated on its own while executing a turn into a parking spot. My foot was not on the accelerator and it took hard braking to bring the car to a hard stop. The car sustained bumper scratches but was otherwise undamaged. The car parked in front of me, a large SUV had no dents or other damage. No police report was filed. I am taking the car into the dealer for checking tomorrow. This happened once before, also while turning into a parking spot. I did not report it at that time, thinking I must have been distracted somehow. This time I was absolutely sure the engine acted on its own presumably under the control of the computer.

Intermittently while driving vehicle stalled. . When this occurred the engine died, and vehicle lost power steering. This made it difficult to steer the vehicle. Dealership serviced the vehicle 4 times for this issue, but was unable to provide a remedy because they couldn't duplicate the failure.

Consumer attempted to stop for a traffic light, but car continued to accelerate with foot applied to the brake pedal. Consumer had to place vehicle in neutral in order to stop. Dealer diagnosed failure of "iac valve", part no. 121187.
Car was in park, went to remove keys. Car accelerated at high speed slamming into wall.
Vehicle would intermittently stall at low rpms or at idle. This occurred frequently until dealer identified and corrected it but not before numerous visits to the dealership. (I have documented work orders) biggest problem was the faulty transmission I had previously heard from other Acura owners and through a newspaper article. I was hoping and praying that I would not become a statistic. This is an uncomfortable feeling when you've paid $33,000+ for a new luxury vehicle and I feared for my safety since reading about the article. On 11/23/02, I would find out that I had become another statistic, thankfully I was driving at a reasonable speed and no one was behind me as the vehicle suddenly stopped. This is a serious and dangerous problem that needs to be address by Acura. I am amazed that no one has been seriously injured. Sadly, it will become a matter of time before that will happen. It is downright wrong for an automaker to knowingly know of a problem and not fix it. They are not protecting their customers and the occupants of said customers. I urged you to contact Acura and implement a mandatory recall of this transmission problem. I feel that I have been ripped off and thankfully, not injured. What are my rights? dt.

I had just made a right turn into a parking space proceeding at about 2 miles per hour with my foot on the brake and was about two feet from the end of the space, about to turn off the engine, when suddenly the car accelerated forward, went over a bumper, and proceeded to go down a hill, part on some concrete stairs and part on grass. I braked all the way and stopped at the bottom of two sets of stairs. Switched car into neutral, engine was racing, and turned off engine. Car was totalled. No injuries.

I put the car into reverse and it surged and accelerated at high speed in reverse and hit(with passenger back fender) the front of a car parked in the opposite aisle.
When stopped with foot on brake car accelerates. Also if car is in reverse, and foot is on brake, car accelerates in reverse. This behavior is reproducible.
Vehicle decelerates while driving. Oct. 25, 1999 the stalling problem now has happen 7 times.
