Acura TLX owners have reported 62 problems related to other fuel system (under the other fuel system category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Acura TLX based on all problems reported for the TLX.
First item: vehicle keeps shutting off during idle while parked or while brake is depressed. It has happened multiple times. I've done some research and see there are several sites indicating issues with the fuel pump and vehicle stalling. Acura says there are no current recalls. I'm not the only person this is happening to. Second issue: vehicle has gone into neutral on its own while driving. At first I thought maybe I hit the neutral button by mistake and didn't think of anything but then the most recent was coming out if a gas station and pulled up to a stop sign and it went into neutral. I just bought this car on June 1st.

Acura Tlx tech showing "check engine", "break" and warning sign on the dashboard. Vehicle was taken to Acura dealer at east brunswick on 08/29/2022. They inspected the car and advised that the issue with "pipe kit, fuel filler part #06160-tz3-a11". The part was ordered by the dealer up on my request with a comment that part is back ordered and no firm expected time per Acura corporate and advised that I shall look for part from other dealers as well. I was advised that vehicle is drivable. As a fallback I ordered part from oem Acura parts on 08/30/2022 and got the same message from them as well that its back ordered. Upon several follow ups and calls still part is unavailable and car is not fixed. Dealer advised in April 2023 that I shall call Acura corporate to determine the expected arrival and I open a case with Acura corporate with case 13772219 and had follow up call with customer services on 04/21/2023 and 4/28/2023. Finally got a call back from case manager chris on 05/01/2023 and he said "no definitive eta, part not available. What best he can do is to send period update via email and call when part is available. " I am in the state of new jersey and vehicle inspections are mandatory, my car inspection is due soon and in case car is not fixed, then there is no way vehicle will pass inspection and I will be forced not to drive the car.

My fuel pump I think is messed up. I had my dad and mechanic look at it. They say it is the fuel pump. The mechanic was in the car when it kept jolting every time I pressed the gas. I could have hit someone in front of me! it keeps doing if. There is a fuel pump recall for these cars, but they don’t want to include my car even though it is. I’m highly frustrated. Please help! I put a date when my mechanics told me something’s wrong, but it started way before that.

Nhtsa recall number:19v-060 appears to be exactly what is going on with my vehicle. I was broke down on the side of the road with warning lights on my dashboard. After having it towed to my mechanic they were able to identify the issue is related to the fuel pump. I looked up issues with my 2019 Acura Tlx and fuel pumps and found that there is a recall. Only my VIN does not qualify for the recall. However, the issue described in the recall is exactly what's going on with my Tlx. I was lucky enough not to have an accident but I very well could of if I had not pulled off the highway!.

I was driving down the freeway, in a new 2021 Acura Tlx with 2000 miles on it. It was raining when I went to switch lanes and floor it to pass another car and the check engine light came on and the power dies and speed dramatically slows down and I’m unable to accelerate. The check engine light is flashing and the car will not reach 40mph. Again I’m on the freeway. This was a very dangerous situation. There were no warnings leading up to this catastrophic fuel/engine issue. I took the car to the Acura dealer who said there had been reports of issues related to water getting into the car’s intercooler for the turbo causing the car to misfire and then going into “safe mode” with a flashing check engine light. They installed Acura sb 20-053 pgm-fi update. I’m picking the car up on 2/6/22 and hoping the issue is resolved. Again this was a serious fuel engine issue that if I’d been passing a car on a two lane road into oncoming traffic could have been deadly.

My catalac converter needs to be replace I took it in backin March because dash lights were on . It was covered under warranty barley made it the first time I took it into Acura they failed to look if it was covered for me . After a month of stress and research it was so I took it back to Acura with the paperwork and spoke to the manager who checked it 2 times and said it wasn’t I handed him the paperwork n he was able to find it he ordered the part and said he’d give me my diagnosis fee back when the part comes in . I’ve been waiting 6 months for it now. Well now my engine block needs to be replaced wich is a bigger issue . And im barely over 80,000 miles the tech said everything looked up to date on car , there’s no reasonable explanation on why this happen. And again the part I need is also on back order . Im carless and just over warranty timeframes I’ve only had the car about a year wth a car payment still . This is very frustrating.
My Acura Tlx engine drive reduced completely on the highway, went going 60 to 25 roughly up to date maintenance 100% oil life and now im concern that’s my vechile has been manufactured failed. Since I purchased my vehicle my seat beats get stuck unable to clip belt. My car came with speakers not working dealer tried to tell me I was crazy, until the speaker system was check yess sure enough no speaker sound at all. In my main base front center speaker ( verybig deal) all of this last Friday my Tlx aspec 3. 5v6 has been making noise and running at a very low reduced speed for no apparent reason while flashing a engine sign. Flash blank with warning engine. This event has put me at risk of safety and protection of customer purchase violations as I developed change in my daily life being blind sided about my Acura Tlx car safety and manufacturing issues. I complaint about this after purchase of vechile and they fixed the repair at no charge. But who wants they car ripped apart never in same fresh condition as purchase. I now receive bends in dash board related to speaking replacements documented in Acura profile. Yes it hasn’t been my car has been diagnostic and going for rare down of engine components at the Acura dealer. This is outrageous and so scary knowing I have too been dealt a bad Tlx.
Vehicle is having problems w original recall issues. Car stopping on its own on the highway, car says it’s on e all the time but has gas, car hesitates continually and sometimes just stops, electrical system is having major glitches, transmission and engine having major issues with hesitation and delay. I’ve bright it back many times and I’m beyond frustrated with no resolution. It’s unsafe to drive. Problem since day 1 I got the car. I’m scared to drive it.
The fuel pump appears to be malfunctioning. The car is basically inoperable when driving in any other mode besides eco. From 10/5/21 - 11/19/21, I’ve filled my fuel tank 11 times and never received any errors or warning messages. I am willing to have the vehicle inspected to confirm by Acura.
For just shy of a year, we've been experiencing problems with our 2016 Tlx misfiring and stalling. Fuel pressure has been tested and it's shown to dramatically drop while under load. It behaves like the problem identified with the recall NHTSA 19v060000 for the v6 of the same year/model. It's a very disturbing event when it happens and it prevents us from driving the car longer than 30-45 minutes - particularly for adequately and safely handling highway driving. At the worst, the car goes into limp mode/stalls out.
Purchased new 2021 Acura Tlx in April 2021 from leith Acura raleigh. On 5/22, 7/6, 7/23, & 11/2/21, the fuel capless unit was adjusted once replaced 3 times. American Honda is aware of the problems with the part & sent service bulletins to every Acura service dept. American Honda stated this & the 2 dealerships did also. On 8/4, there was an issue. Steering column began dripping grease. Grease dripping from steering shaft bolts "due to extreme heat". 12/7/21, extremely loud, high pitch squeal from brakes due to issue known by american Honda. Service bulletin sent to Acura service dept. Rotor rubs against another part on these cars. They explained there's no fix as of yet. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, & is it available for inspection upon request? fuel capless unit (already replaced 3 times), steering column (steering shaft bolts), & brakes. Available for inspection whenever you all need for me to take it to the dealership again. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? american Honda has advised all Acura dealerships that these are known issues. They will not label them as recalls because they do not put Acura owners at risk, according to them. But, they send service bulletins to the dealerships advising all Acura service departments that they know about these problems. The steps to fix the issue may or may not work per dealers. As for the brakes, they've explained that they currently do not know the fix for the issue. They're still trying to figure it out, according to both Acura dealerships. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? yes it has on at least 6 occasions by Acura dealerships. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? yes, there have been warning indicators & messages.
After a traffic light stop, I accelerated and the car lost acceleration, then the check engine turned on. I pulled over and had no response from the accelerator. Check engine was flashing. I turned off the car then turned it back on, and problem was gone acceleration came back. I merge into my lane again and not even 100 ft when my dash lights came on, like a christmas tree. Every light in my dash was lit. The following are some of the lights that were on. Power steering park check engine adaptable cruise control problem collision sign seatbelt traction control oil light abs collision light brake system problem acc lkas vehicle stability assist the issue appeared to be electrical since the mechanical parts of the car looked ok. I drove the car home at 55 mph since thats as fast as it will let me drive it. I stopped at a autozone to scan the obd computer and just a misfire on cylinder 2 code came up which is strange that a misfire would cause this problem. No other codes came out. Note: car had no check engine light on before this in 179,000 miles we have owned it. Went home disconnected the battery then hook it back on. Problem went away. It hasnot happened in 12 hrs. The issue is I dont trust the car anymore. If this would have happened in the freeway 10 at 80 mph with traffic, I would have cause a deadly crash. Then I looked on you tube and there is practically dozens of Acura owners with identical issues, some of them avoided crashes because of loss of power. Dealers cant find solutions, in the comments section all I read is people asking if someone found a solution. Seems like Honda should be doing something about it , to keep their costumers safe. Hope this letter gets to them and NHTSA do something about it, before it takes someone's life.
When driving as gear changes while hitting the gas ,my car jults as if gas I ran out of gas and hard enough to make me feel like im getting wiplash and dose it around 25mph and 55-60 mph and rpm wil jump and go back to normal.
There have been a couple of incidents where I will be driving and my car suddenly jolts and coasts to a stop. It seems as though the car is being placed in neutral while I am driving because when I press on the gas. It will just rev the engine. The check engine light will turn on as well. I typically turn off and on the car and the car will then work just fine. These incidents seem to happen when I am driving on a city street.
The vehicle hesitates to accelerate while in motion and from a stopped position. The hesitation occurs during gradual and immediate acceleration. You can hear the hesitation in the engine. Car has less than 10k miles at the time of this submission.
I bought my Acura about 3 months ago but saw they had some recalls on over 400k of these vehicles with fuel issues! is this going to be an issue for me later with this vehicle? right now my vehicle is fine though, just wanted it to be known.
Car stalls when I am at a red light or a stop. It happens when the car has been driven awhile, not when it first starts. After stopping at a red light, the car fails to start when I put my foot on the gas to accelerate. The car will stall, then when I try to start it by pushing the start button, it takes more than 1 try for it to start. It happened 4 times within 2 hours a week ago; each time after being stopped at a red light. This problem has occurred since I purchased the car, and never when the engine is cold.
The vehicle is stalling at intersections. This problem occurs more frequently on hot days.
Acura Tlx, 2019, fuel system failed, shifted gears on its own and I had to immediately die to safety concerns. This issue first appears in September 2019, with 5k miles. Ok November 10,2019, Tlx display boards for (navigation and temperature adjustments, use of phone and radio would cycle down on it own. This happened repeatedly while the car is in drive or park. It causes a huge distraction while driving or going into reverse because you cannot utilize your back-up camera, adjust the temperature and cause a major distraction while driving. I've reported the issue to Acura advised me on what steps I should take to self diagnose this. This automobile is not safe to drive. The dealership has provided little to no updates on what exactly is wrong and the automobile has been in their possession for over a week.
From a stopped position, moving forward my vehicle hesitated and decreased in power and the gas pedal did not help moving the vehicle forward. This happened in the middle of the intersection for several seconds 10-15 before the vehicle started moving forward again. From a moving position, I was going around a right-hand slight curve going approximately 45-50 mhp and the vehicle failed to keep power, speed decreased, and then began working again after several scary seconds. The main problem I have is when accelerating, the fuel seems like it is not processed correctly to allow my vehicle to accelerate. This is a dangerous mechanical issue that has happened more than ten times. I have contacted the dealership but they said my VIN was not in the listing of recalls. I am clearly having the same problems as many other Acura Tlx owners. Additionally, when I push the start button it did not start the vehicle. This has happened 3 times as of Nov 2019. My vehicle should be listed with the recalled listing of other 2016 Tlx Acura vehicles.
Car constantly shifts hard between gears 1-2 and when traveling down hill rpms increase and when the the bottom of hill it shifts hard in gear. The vcm makes the car feel like it's going to fall apart the system is faulty cause damages to other car components. When shifting into park on my pretty much flats road the car rolls forward all the time.
Again, while driving approximately 75 mph on interstate all error codes on dashboard (mil) lit up and the car began to feel as if the transmission was not engaged as if I was in neutral and the engine began loosing power. The speed began decreasing, but then would catch for a few seconds. The gear indicated that it was in drive. I pulled off the interstate & parked. I waited a few minutes & restarted and tried to re-engage in drive to see if it reset itself as it has done in the past just 7 weeks prior, however it just revved up. I called road side assistance and had it towed to nearest dealer an hour away as again the mechanical break down occurred while I was traveling in between cities. The next morning, the dealer was able to retrieve the error codes and said that the transmission needed another software update to repair the issue, the computer was reset . While driving home the transmission became jumpy again around 3rd gear. I contacted my local dealership and made them aware of my safety concerns for the car as again, my entire family (husband, kids and dogs) were in the car and felt as if this could have resulted in horrible accident had I not safely navigated off of the interstate while at such a high speed with heavy holiday traffic. This error has displayed for times and each time there was a different solution to the problem besides having 2 transmission updates, bad battery cell and replaced push button gear assembly. I have documented all incidents and reported to dealership as well as Acura corporate. I currently have appointment for next week so that their service adviser can try and replicate this intermittent problem to determine what the error is. I've made them aware that this is a dangerous mechanical issue that not only puts me and my passengers in danger but possibly other cars, but was assured I do not need a rental until it can be seen again.
2019 Acura Tlx 2. 4l. Purchased brand new less than a month ago with less than 900 miles on the vehicle. Sudden emissions problem and parking brake check engine lights flashing after vehicle has been sitting/parked. This has happened repeatedly and seems to be a known problem to Acura which the dealer does not know how to repair. When dealer checks problem it shows a problem code indicating emissions leak but after testing nothing can be found.
At 70 mph the vehicle lost power, all warning lights came on, I had to maneuver thru traffic and drift to the shoulder, the transmission was locked up and could not be shifted from park to any gear, the accelerator would not work. The car had to be towed. The dealership said the vehicle computer had to be re-flashed/programmed. This condition could have caused an accident for an inexperienced driver. There are no fault codes indicated as to why or what caused this issue. I did find through research that a wiring harness is causing these conditions in the make, model and year vehicle. Also the transmission is related to this problem.
I bought a brand new 2018 Acura Tlx, the dealership stated the current recall on the vehicle was fixed before the sale. After searching the VIN I found out that the recall was not repaired. I got the service department to make an appointment to fix the recall but should the dealership face any punishments/ fines etc. For selling a new vehicle with an open recall after stating it was fixed?.
The onboard system crashed while I was driving. All the warnings on the dash went off. The car automatically went into park. When I placed the car into drive mode the parking brake would not disengage. I turned off and on my car the issues persisted. After I turned off and on my car a third time the car allowed me to drive it.
