Service Brakes Problems of Acura TLX - part 2

The contact leased a 2021 Acura Tlx. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle, a loud abnormal, squealing noise would emit from the brake pedal upon depression without warning. The contact had taken the vehicle back to the dealer where they acknowledged the failure but stated that the parts for the repair were not yet available. The contact was given a loaner vehicle of the same model; however, the same failure occurred with the loaner vehicle. The contact returned to the dealer for the third time and was given a loaner vehicle of a different model. Upon return of the original vehicle, the brake noise had stopped; however, the forward collision avoidance brake warning light would intermittently illuminate on the instrument panel without incident. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where she was informed that the electrical system needed to be reset; however, once the system was reset, the original brake noise failure returned. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it remained in their possession. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and a case was filed. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 11.

The contact owns a 2021 Acura Tlx. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle on one occasion, the vehicle would not start-up. The contact had the vehicle towed to the local dealer to be inspected. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was started and driven back to the residence. A few days after taking the vehicle to the dealer, the contact noticed that while driving at undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed and there was a loud cranking noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle back to the local dealer to perform a diagnostic test on the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 270.

Several times, all of the lights would flash on the car to check all of the systems and then the car would shut off while I was mid drive mostly while in a residential neighborhood but sometimes on a major parkway. After about an hour the car would start back up. I would not be able to start the car or change gear while it was shut off. I had the battery and alternator checked and that was not the problem. I took it to the repair shop and they said it was the fuel pump. I researched online and saw several 2015 Acuras were recalled with this issue but not my VIN number. I have pictures that I took when it was last flashing if that would be helpful.

Started my car after work to almost all my dash lights on like park, emissions control, stability control, lane departure with an exclamation mark beside it, electric parking brake problem, hill start assist problem brake hold system problem vehicle stability assist pertinent and check engine light on!.

While driving and I applied the brakes I can feel it shaking very rapidly ,however it happens more when I driving a down hill.

On June 7th 2020 I was driving my car , it started to shake. As I started to drive back home to see what was going on all the problems showed up in the screen . I had to drive with my emergency hazard lights on because I couldn't go more then 25 mph or it would shake even more . We have at least 12 pictures of what's showing in the screen . We are only able to upload one .

Tl- the contact owns a 2015 Acura Tlx. The contact stated the vehicle indicator lights illuminate on and off (check admission, check parking brake system) every couple of days. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for a diagnosis (scanlon Acura 14270 s tamiami trail, fort myers, FL 33912) the diagnosis were unable to detect the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of this issue, the failure mileage was 27,000 tp.

On the morning of 1/7/2020, my cars� brake sensing system malfunctioned bringing my car to a grinding halt launching myself forward toward the steering wheel and the items in my passenger seat forward into the floorboard. This was on a city street approaching the intersection of a major highway. There was no car in front of me at the time this happened and thankfully, there were no cars within a close distance behind me. There had been a truck that was ~100+ yards in front of me that turned right into a gas station. This was nearing an intersection where I planned to turn right and I let my foot off the accelerator and was slowing down. After the truck was already parked at the gas pump w/the driver opening his door, this malfunction in my braking system occurred w/nothing in front of me. The goodson Acura dealership I took my car to had several team members who have also experience this exact same problem when a vehicle in front of them had turned right. They explained I should �think of it as a delayed response in the system�. They noted that Acura is aware of this, but there is nothing that can be done. I informed them that I was not satisfied with that answer. A safety feature on my car is now a safety risk for me to potentially be rear-ended significantly since there was no car in front of me when it happened. They ran a complete check of the system today, 1/9/2020 and no errors were noted. They did adjust the setting from "normal" sensitivity on distance to be further out, but it should not have to be set outside of "normal" settings for proper handling. Acura is a luxury line vehicle with advanced technology safety features in place to protect drivers/passengers, not to potentially harm them. This is not an acceptable malfunction to happen for myself or my family. If this is truly known to Acura as a concern and not being addressed, this is a problem.

I was driving on a residential street approx. 10 mph and turned into a driveway. There was another vehicle parked ahead. I stopped hard on my brakes but my car didn't stop and hit the parked car. As it happened so quickly, I must have turned the steering wheel, continued to press on the brakes but ended up also hitting a building.

With the vehicle auto stop function engaged (which is always engaged when starting your drive, can't be disabled automatically) and you come to a stop, the engine will auto stop. When this happens, and simultaneously you need to resume driving, the system will generate a 61-12 error, flash warnings about the brake system and stability control system possibly not working and engage the parking brake. This means that you are stuck where you are until you gather your wits and disengage the parking brake. When this happens in an intersection, particularly when you have to unexpectedly stop and try to hurry on thru you can get caught in oncoming traffic, has happened twice! the car has been seen by Acura 11 times and various components were replaced. Now they are saying that this activity is actually normal and to avoid this situation, always manually disengage the auto stop function. 1. This is too easy to forget, humans don't always remember and 2. Doing so lights up a very irritating amber warning light. This "normal" operation is hazardous! this has been going on from 2,000 miles to my current 36,000 miles!.

This will be the 12th time where my car comes to a sudden and violent stop for no apparent reason - due to the collision mitigation breaking system activating with no cars in front of me. The last time this happened, a few weeks ago, there was someone behind me and it was a very close call. There was also a passenger who didn't know what hit him. I have brought the car in for service only to be told everything was fine. I attempted to bring it in for service again and I was given the run around that they had no availability for weeks. I have email correspondence with Acura customer care and anyone involved in the purchase of this vehicle, including two separate dealerships and I have received a generic response with no solution offered. This is a dangerous system that is clearly not tested appropriately and I will be keeping it turned off just as long as I can remember to do so. These incidents vary - most times it occurred on a local street. It happened twice on an interstate highway as I was entering going about 45mph. All times this has happened I was traveling over approx 35mph.

2016 Acura Tlx 39,462 miles on odometer. The engine lost power. The warning light displayed parking brake system malfunction, emission system malfunction. After 3 times shutting off and turning on the power button, the condition went back to normal.

In an impact with a parked car that totaled the Tlx , the airbags never deployed which led to injury to the drivers chest and the hip of the passenger in the front of the car. The attached picture show that the front in is crushed while the inside pictures show that the airbags never deployed. After the impact the car could not be controlled. Per driver, she tried to break, but car did not stop. She tried to turn power off at ignition but that did not stop. Put car in park but it continued rolling backwards until the car impacted a retaining wall damaging the backend of the car. Still, Acura safety system never deploys airbags. According to the driver, after the collision all systems failed. She was unable to brake or stop the car with gears or turning power off. We have more pictures. It seems I was only able to load 1.

Vehicle was in motion on a highway in very heavy traffic when brakes were employed and vehicle did not stop but grinder forward, hitting the car in front.

The car did not brake when approaching a stoplight. Crashed into the last car in line. Investigation showed I started braking at 35 mph for 7+ seconds, before the crash. Two lines in both directions, the speed limit was 40 mph.

I was entering a left-hand turn lane, with a red light. The third-party investigation showed I entered the lane at 35mp. I started gentle breaking and when there was no response, I pushed the brake hard and to the floor. I did not feel the car decelerate but the investigation shows that braked for 7 seconds plus and hit the last car in line at about 20mph. The investigator was unable to recreate the circumstances.

Vsa and abs.

Tl-the contact owns a 2018 Acura Tlx. The contact stated that while driving at unknown speeds on three occasions the steering wheel failed to move left or right. The brake pedal was applied but was hard and failed to respond. The accelerator pedal was applied but failed to move. The electric system, emission, transmission, stability control, all wheel assist, blind spot, cruise control, and lane assist indicator lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer Acura of memphis located at 2611 ridgeway rd, directions memphis, TN 38119 where diagnosed that the vehicle overheated, the automatic start malfunctioned. The vehicle was repaired however the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of issue and opened case 08586429 but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 31,081. Ap.

While driving at 45mph the car lost power I. E. , steering, brakes, stability control and transmission and was unable to unlock parking brake.

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Acura Tlx. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, another vehicle was passing on the left lane, when the front driver side wheel seized without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle lost control briefly. The contact stated that he did not feel safe. The contact stated that the vehicle lane departure system was activated two days prior. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, hopkins Acura of fairfield 2459 auto mall pkwy, fairfield, CA 94533 where the failure was not determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that while driving at 60 mph,the vehicle began to violently shake. The failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was contacted and informed the contact that they had not heard of the failure occurring before. The failure mileage was approximately 8,100. Ec.

My wife was involved in a car accident in which our car got t-boned on the driver side. My wife was completely blindsided and all the airbags on the driver side deployed and when she saw the smoke she thought there was a fire so she told my mother in law to quickly get my 2 yr. Old child out of her car seat. As my wife and her sister who was also sitting in the front started walking towards the back of the car to get me daughter out of the car our car started rolling back even though it was smashed to the right side of the rode and was at a complete stop. Meanwhile her mom was in the back trying to get out of a moving car which she thought was on fire. Since the car started rolling back into oncoming traffic my mother in law who was holding my daughter got dragged along the pavement with my daughter in her chest because her leg got stuck in the car. She finally got out of the car as it was rolling past the middle of this busy street but the car kept rolling back until eventually the back bumper rolled into another car. My wife swears she put the car in park and has no idea why the car started rolling back and obviously she wouldn't get out of a moving car so you know the car had come to complete stop. When we called Acura to report this issue they chalked it up to my wife leaving the car in neutral but the car was not smashed onto a hill and the road was flat. Furthermore we found online there are parking brake issues with the Tlx but the Acura rep stated the recall was not for our VIN#. My daughter and mother in law could have died from this issue but Acura really didn't show any concern.

2 different times while driving i75( 30-45mph heavy traffic) and then i16 (55 -60 mph rush hour traffic) the car stalls all lights flash off then back on and dashboard lights up first saying breaks the transmission, stability control. First time tech said fluke low voltage, second said car down shifts to 4th gear and gets stuck.

I have a 2015 Acura Tlx 4cyl. It is a very nice looking car however there is something wrong with the transmission. I have taken it into the Acura dealership and they have confirmed that there is something wrong however they are not sure what. All they tell me is that there are no codes coming up telling them what it is. They just tell me that everything is documented so if and when there is a recall I have proof that it has been ongoing. When you are stopped and then proceed to go the car will jerk and hesitate to shift to next gear. This can happen while you are driving also, if you have to brake and then start again. Its very upsetting I have owned Acuras before, the Acura tl and the Acura integra, both cars had a high performance. This car not so much. When is Acura going to do something about this?? there hasn't been just one episode this is an everyday occurrence.

The original failure was scary. We had just left texas hwy 130 (80 mph toll way), when we sustained the original failure. As it failed, everybody in the car thought I had slammed on the brakes by the way the car buckled (like a bucking horse), it had done a violent sudden stop and release; the car went to idle and coasted for a bit without response from the engine; I studied the panel because everything was lit up; once I decided the engine was still idling, I pressed the accelerator slowly until I decided I had some control; checked the failure messages; then tried to drive the car. The car could be driven, I drove it slowly with the hazard lights on, the car buckled every so often. Since we were close to home we went there. Had this happened at 80 mph, I don't know what would have happened.

The contact owns a 2015 Acura Tlx. While drving various speeds, the vehicle shifted between gears very roughly. Additionally, the vehicle took an excessively long time to stop after applying the brake pedal. While the contact's son was driving 15 mph, the driver applied the brakes; however, the vehicle failed to stop. As a result, the driver crashed into a pole. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was taken to a body shop where the cosmetic damage was repaired, but the cause of the failure was not diagnosed. On another occasion, while the contact's son was driving 10 mph, the driver applied the brakes, but the vehicle failed to stop again. As a result, the driver struck the preceding vehicle. There were no injuries and a police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to dch montclair Acura (100 bloomfield Ave, verona, NJ 07044) where the cosmetic damage was repaired; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The failure continued to recur and the vehicle was taken to ramsey Acura (65 NJ-17, ramsey, NJ 07446) where the dealer updated unspecified software on the vehicle, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and suggested a different dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 7,500.

The contact owned a 2015 Acura Tlx. While driving 50 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and the vehicle became difficult to stop. The contact's vehicle crashed into the rear of another vehicle, flipped over, and rolled until it stopped. The air bags deployed. A police report was filed. The driver sustained injuries and was transported to the emergency room. The contact sustained injuries to the back, face, and both knees. The vehicle was towed and destroyed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,625.

I was stopped close to mailbox for my rental home and had the engine running, brake hold was on and when I unbuckled the car automatically engaged the parking brake without shifting the gear to park. I got out of the car, took the key, collected the mail and got back in. The problem appeared when I got back in. I managed to engage the car into drive mode, but seems like the parking brake did not completely disengage. The vehicle started to move in jerks and spurts as if the drive was happening with the parking brake still engaged. The foot brake wouldn't work and it was a really scary moment for me, but thankfully was able to shift the gear back to park mode. I turned off the engine and the system reset itself. For a while I didn't know what to do as the vehicle was moving but couldn't apply the foot brake at all. It could have been catastrophic under different circumstances. I am not sure how to approach Acura or the dealer with this problem and how to have them inspect it. I am not even sure if they will agree to inspect it for safety issues.

Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Acura Tlx. The contact stated that while driving the vehicle the collision mitigation braking system (cmbs) failed. The contact stated that seat belt pretension which is a feature of the collision mitigation braking system failed to engage. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The contact was informed by the dealer that the system worked as designed. The contact also stated that the forward collision warning system with pedestrian detection functioned as designed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000. Ah.

When driving at approximately 40 mph the car suddenly accelerates. I first noticed problem when coasting downhill, but now occurs on level highway also. Also there are periods when one tries to accelerate from a stop or from reverse to drive that the transmission hesitates before shifting into gear. At that point the engine has revved up causing the car to lurch forward when the gear does engage. Additionally even after a recall, the parking gear slips allowing the car to roll down hill. These problems have resulted in near accidents.
