I have had two michelin pilot hxmxm4 size 225r17 93v tires fail on my 2009 Acura Tsx, these were the original tires. Both tires had breaks in the sidewalls with a "w" pattern. I found these defects on one tire which only had 1700 miles on it, the second tire failed with 7400 miles on it.

Little tiny cracks have appeared on the sidewall of the tires near the rim, which I believe are created due to the tires being dry rotted. Does this mean the tires are too old when they were put on the car? the car dealership makes it sound like this is normal wear.

Driving on highway, taking a ramp from one road to another, noticed a sound coming from right rear tire. While trying to reach an exit, felt the car pulling to the right, and was able to pull off on shoulder. When the car came to a rest, the tire was sitting on the road behind the car, still in an intact circle. The tire was inspected by an authorized tire dealer who could find no road hazard method of tire failure, and the manufacturer decided that although they normally do not cover this type of damage under warranty, they paid 35% of the replacement cost of a new tire. The damage looks like a sidewall failure.
: the contact stated that while driving at 50 mph, the front right tire lost air. After the vehicle was pulled off the road, and an attempted was made to refill the tire. The steel belt was observed to be broken. There were blisters on sidewall; blisters were on other 3 tires also.
Purchased from jay wolfe Acura, kansas city, 2004 Acura Tsx, 2700 miles, purchased 6/7/04. No potholes, cracks, curbs, etc. Hit with vehicle. Dealer stated that I must have hit something in road anyway. Failure: front passenger sidwall blowout at rim--front end out of alignment; front passenger rim damaged due to blowout and moving car into safe location; rear passenger bubble and start of tire separation at rim--rear end in alignment. (do not understand how rear could be in alignment if a pothole was hit)
correction: $825. 00--replaced 2 tires; replaced 1 Acura rim; 1 four wheel alignment plus shop fees and taxes.
