Equipment Problems of Audi A3 - part 2

Takata recall I received notice in January of 2019 that my vehicle was having a second recall on the takata airbags. I immediately attempted to have the repair done at my local dealership; I could not get through. I then contacted Audi corporate, who said they left the local dealershiop messages on my behalf; again no response. After calling multiple other dealerships in my state, one a little over an hour from me actually replied to my messages. It took until June to get this recall completed. Neither Audi USA nor it's local dealers seem to care about performing a safety recall in a timely manner.

Coolant leaking, thermostat and water pump defective. Car has under 26000 miles. Multiple online forms reporting same issue. Vehicle was stationary when vehicle alerted low coolant. Winter climate.

Takata recall: I am still waiting for the second repair to be made on my vehicle regarding this recall. I truly don't feel safe driving my car knowing there is a possibility of the airbag exploding harmful objects into my face in the case of an accident. I am repeatedly being told the manufacturer has not produced the parts for my local Audi dealership to finish the repair work. I'm wondering what the hold up is, and what I can do as a driver to protect myself in the meantime? is there a timeline that manufacturers have to complete recall services, and if so, when is that time up? how is this acceptable?.

The transmission stops working while driving ( as if it were in neutral). While driving up a bridge it just stopped working and started rolling backwards and now will not work at all . Its my understanding that Audi recalled this transmission in the uk.

When changing from highway driving to stop and go traffic, car tries to shift up and down frequently very harshly, then all gears flash and car enters limp mode. Have to restart engine to allow it to allow car to drive normal. This repeats until able to drive in free flowing traffic. Car drives normal under all other driving conditions.

I have a question that I was hoping you could help me with. My family and I have been loyal Audi customers for over 15 years and we have purchased many many vehicles from Audi. One car that we currently have is a 2016 Audi A3 convertible. When the car is put in "r" (reverse) the car goes forward before going backward. The car goes forward quite a bit as well, if it was just a few inches then I wouldn't have an issue with it but living in los angeles I have to street park and parallel park often therefore it is very dangerous that this is happening. I took it into the dealership and they stated that this is normal and it does this because its a 4 cylinder. I find this to be rather odd. I have never heard of a car going forward before going backward when put in 'r". The car is in great condition, never been wrecked or involved in anything. I have tried holding the break before putting it in "r', I have tried reversing the car with emergency break on and off, on a hill and on flat land. The result is always the same. Could you please inform me on your thoughts or advice. The dealership says its normal and the car is fine therefore I am writing you. All the cars we have owned from Audi: q5, q7, a7, a8 have not done this.

As I was driving on a straightaway, I turned on the heater in my car and within minutes I was feeling extremely nauseous and felt like I was losing control and focus. I tried to figure out what was causing this reaction and why I could smell a light fume in the car as there were no other vehicles in front of me. I turned around to my children in the backseat to ask them if they felt okay, and I saw that they were nearly asleep. I opened the windows and turned off the heater since I realized the car was fine before I turned the heater on. I also realized it was probably carbon monoxide poisoning that was causing our symptoms. Although my children and I are okay as a result of my quick actions, I could have passed out and crashed very badly, hurting my family and other innocent people.

Takata recall- 16v079 recall date: February 9, 2016 my vehicle is almost 4 years old and no due diligence has been taken to remedy this unsafe and possibly defective airbag.

I have an Audi A3 sportback 1. 4 tfsi attraction 2009. While driving or when the car is stationary the selector lever position indicator within the instrument panel is flashing. When this happens the car may not move and the depress brake pedal indicator light illuminates. I apply the brakes and nothing happened. I have to turn off the car and turn on again. This problem happens all the time while I am driving, when the car is stationary, when I just start the car. Its unsafe to drive the car like that because I had this happened while I'm driving in a high way. The selector lever position indicator within the instrument panel start to flashing and the car was loosing power, as it did not accelerate any more. I stopped and turn off the car. Then I start it again. The indicator prnds still flashing but the car sometimes moves. I am not sure but this is a problem with the 7 speed dsg automatic gearbox. There is a white/chalk outline of the passenger airbag, my vehicle only has 500 miles on it, not sure if the there is a air bag or inflator issue or a material defect. Dealership is saying this is normal. . Read more...

I recently started to use the back part of the car, never had used it before had another car for dogs and bikes. The area where the spare tire is made out of cardboard, will not hold 125 lab dog or a bike. Went to dealer said they would replace the piece and split the cost. Piece is not broken, 1/2 the car is not usable, if I put my 125 lab back there she would fall into the spare tire. Audi does not think this is a problem. It is dangerous to have kids, bike or dogs back there. Unsafe. I have been emailing Audi corporate and dealer- lots of talk and no solutions. The car is wonderful, they just fell asleep when they made the trunk area. Dangerous!!.

My vehicle suffered loss of power and as a result too much of hesitation , it behaved as if it is about to stop on highway. It is a new car and thought it could be bad gas , changed gas station made sure gas is not an issue and hesitation/loss of power continues. I was about to schedule an appointment for service but dealer called me saying my car's VIN number has been listed for an imp update in order to prevent failure of certain components and people in germany are looking forward to get this fixed ASAP I. E ; 18 sept 2015 . I scheduled an appointment on 24 sept 2015 it is not just update but the entire turbo is replaced , month later car is having similar symptoms ,no power/hesitation , intermittently stuttering or misfiring. Audi mechanics kept car for a day (13 Nov 2014)and replied they couldn't find the issue and returned the car back to me . I assured them the vehicle had premium gas only and nothing else. I will keep you informed of the status.

2006 Audi A3 2. 0t with dsg. Transmission is slipping sometimes on acceleration, sometimes with steady driving. Stepped on accelerator at stop light and transmission engaged for about 5 feet, then car lurched to a stop, then transmission caught and it accelerated forward again. Issue repeated two more times within the hour. Today I was cruising at a steady 70 mph, 6th gear, about 2800 rpm, and the transmission let go and rpms dropped to about 2200 before the transmission re-engaged and the vehicle was again at 2800 rpm. Happened once per mile after that, and then twice again on surface streets in 4th gear. Appears to match exactly the symptoms owners experience with recalled 2007-2010 vehicles with the same transmission.
