1 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2013 Audi A3

Failure Date: 12/31/2017

Takata inflator replacement issue on 12/31/2017 I was driving in los angeles under normal conditions when suddenly there was a hissing noise and some kind of particulate matter spewed from around the steering column where there is a join with the wheel. This was directed at my face for 10-15 seconds which I breathed in as I was driving. I am also "concerned" about the nature and contents of the particulate matter, and, that the airbag might not function properly in an accident or that it might inflate without any reason of its own accord.

Takata recall. I live on the island of maui and the only authorized dealer to perform the safety recall of takata inflators, is on oahu. Neither the dealer, or Audi of America, inc. Will pay for the shipping of the vehicle for this recall. This will cost hundreds of dollars for shipping both ways, and is only a temporary fix. Additional cost will be required when there is a "final remedy. ".

4 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2011 Audi A3

Failure Date: 08/05/2016

Takata airbag I am writing to express my great concern about this potentially lethal issue with my car. This recall is open since February 2016 and yet nothing has been done to rectify this. I am forced to drive a potentially lethally harmful vehicle over the lack of ability by the manufacturer to remedy the airbag inflator. I understand the involved concerns of the survivability of takata - however my personal life comes before the economic concern of the car manufacturer and its suppliers.

5 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2011 Audi A3

Failure Date: 07/19/2016

Takata recall: Audi has been unable to provide any information as to when the takata airbag inflator(s) will be replaced. It has been approximately one year, and we have kept the car garaged for fear of severe injury or death in the event of an accident. Audi has offered no information the status of the recall, no loaner vehicle/rental vehicle, and appears to have no plan in place for replacement of the affected airbag inflator(s).

6 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2007 Audi A3

Failure Date: 04/30/2016

Takata recall I received a safety recall notice from Audi, a 69n2 notice stating that "takata has reported that the driver frontal airbag inflator could potentially rupture if the vehicle is involved in a crash where the frontal airbags are designed to deploy. In the event of an inflator rupute, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material, which may result in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants. " I called Audi USA today and was told that they currently have no repair program available to deal with this problem, they could not even provide an expected date for the repair to be available, and that loaner programs are not available nationally and it would be unlikely that my local dealer would be able to loan me a vehicle until such time as my car is repaired to a safe driving condition. This is clearly completely unacceptable so I would like to make a formal complaint against Audi. All I am requesting is the vehicle is repaired and if it cannot be repaired that I am provided with a safe car to drive in the interim period. I feel you need to be aware of the position Audi are taking in not providing remedy to such a lethal problem as I am left truly shocked at their lack of concern for the safety of their customers.

7 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2008 Audi A3

Failure Date: 04/15/2016

Takata recall: I received the attached notice from Audi of America, inc. , dated April 2016, and stating that my vehicle contains a takata frontal airbag inflator that "could potentially rupture if the vehicle is involved in a crash where the frontal airbags are designed to deploy. In the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could pass through the airbag cushion material, which may result in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants. " the notice states that replacement parts are not available. I recently serviced my car, and again the dealer informed me that replacement parts are not available. I called Audi USA today and they said that takata has not made replacement parts available at this time and they have no timeline for supplying the parts. I am deeply concerned that a critical piece of safety equipment in my vehicle could itself cause me or my passengers "serious injury or death. " I would appreciate it if someone would please advise when these replacement parts will be made available for this critical repair. Thank you.

Takata recall - my car was delivered in shreveport, la and I bought it after it had been in service for 2 1/2 years in that humid envirnment. I have it home in santa fe, nm - a dry environment. I can not get an answer as to any priority I might have since the psdi-5 non-dessicated inflator in my car had been in a humid environment for an extended period. I am not driving the car - it is unsafe for me.

9 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2006 Audi A3

Failure Date: 04/01/2016

"takata recall" I have received numerous notices from Audi of America, inc. , most recently may, June and July 2018. These notices ask me to contact an Audi dealer regarding a safety recall for driver frontal airbag inflator (takata) as soon as possible to have the airbag replaced free of charge. I contacted Audi stevens creek in san jose, CA, and was able to have a temporary airbag replacement installed on June 2, 2017. At that time, I was told a permanent airbag would need to be replaced in the future when the part arrived. I have called this dealer several times, most recently sept. 4, 2018, and was told each time that they do not have the part and do not know when they will get it. I now want to sell my car and may be unable to do so because of this problem. I also feel I am at risk if getting into an accident if this bag is not permanently replaced. The very first notice I received from Audi America was April 2016 regarding its safety recall of this takata airbag. It is now sept. 2018, and I still do not have a permanent airbag replacement. This is unacceptable.

10 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2008 Audi A3

Failure Date: 04/01/2016

Takata recall. Safety recall 69n2 - takata psdi-5 driver frontal airbag. I received notice of this recall in April, 2016. Nearly 11 months later and Audi's position is still that "replacement parts are not yet available" for my vehicle. The inaction by Audi and the lack of enforcement by NHTSA is unacceptable, and places myself and my family in continuing danger. Please work with attorney general jeff sessions to bring a civil action against Audi to force compliance with the recall. Audi's position, that there are no replacement airbag inflators, is clearly false, as Audi continues to sell new vehicles in the us equipped with inflators. I suggest that NHTSA and the justice department seek an injunction barring Audi from selling any new vehicles in the us until such time as they have fully complied with the recall, and replaced all the defective airbag inflators with replacement inflators that do not utilize ammonium nitrate propellants.

11 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2012 Audi A3

Failure Date: 04/01/2016

Takata inflators I received a recall letter April 2016 stating my vehicle has a potentially deadly driver side airbag. I have contacted Audi of jacksonville FL who confirmed the letter and stated they can't give me a date when my vehicle will be repaired. They refuse to supply a rental vehicle or to take any further action to remedy my situation. My daughter normally drives this vehicle and I now must watch it depreciate while it sits in my driveway. My other vehicle is a 2011chevy suburban which has also been recalled for the takata air bag VIN 1gnscje02br386697. I'm in potential danger and have been severely limited in driving and am losing value on both vehicles. I tried private attorneys who seem to only be handling actual damage and injuries. Please advise me where I can further pursue action.

I've been calling for months & months to have this recall fixed. I'm always told that parts are not available. I need to have this fixed!! it's a safety issue. Ford should find a solution for this problem or offer to replace the car at no cost to me. I fear that if this part is not replaced, that my family may be harmed by the ruptured inflator. 14 Front Driver Side Air Bag Inflator problem of the 2006 Audi A3

Failure Date: 02/09/2016

Takata recall. Nhtsa recall number 16v079. Audi action code 69n2. Recall start date Feb 09, 2016. My issue is that I have been waiting for an "interim repair" for my defective takata airbag inflator for 2 years 4 months and 20 days at the date of writing this complaint. I drive myself and my family in my vehicle, and according to the Audi national customer service representative I spoke with, it is both my passenger and driver airbag inflators that need to be replaced. This is extremely concerning as I drive my family in my vehicle. The lack of information Audi has been able to give to me regarding when parts will be available has led me here. Quite frankly, I have run out of patience, as I'm driving a vehicle that can potentially cause my family and myself harm/death, where the device (inflator/airbag) should be keeping us safe. There is no waiting list to be added to for the parts, and the lack of any specificity of when the parts will be available is beyond absurd, especially since I've been waiting and calling them every so often for more than 2 years now. I have called all of the local Audi dealerships in my area for information regarding the takata recall and part availability, along with the Audi national number, all to no avail or any specificity of getting this problem addressed.
