1 Fuel Delivery problem of the 2005 Audi A4

Failure Date: 03/20/2007

Knocking noise under rear passenger seat behind driver. After changing out fuel gauging mechanisms and fuel pump the dealer has been told (by Audi USA) that the cause is probably a filter element in fuel tank area which clogs and does not let the tank return air to tank after being compressed when fuel is sent to engine? the vehicle has been in the shop off and on for the last 2 months. Although dealer/Audi are trying to fix the vehicle this should not happen in a 35k plus automobile. I am only lucky that I still have some warranty time left (vehicle is not yet two years old with about 35k miles! had it not been for the warranty remaining this would have been very labor intensive thus very expensive.

2 Fuel Delivery problem of the 1996 Audi A4

Failure Date: 01/17/2005

I detected a stong odor of gasoline in the passenger cabin. I took the vehick in two weeks ago and was told that a leak was found in the fuel line at a crimp, spilling down the wheel well on the front passenger side. I was told that the cost to perfrom the repair would be $950 as the only way to adress the problem waas to replace the entile fuel line from front to back. I declined the approve the work and picked up the car in order to get a second opinon. The cuse of the leak is a manufacturing defect and I have made an appointment to have Audi take a closer look at the problem.
