I was driving hwy speed limit while my Audi A4 3. 0 2004 stopped running all of a sudden and I had to push my car on the side to safe from hwy traffic. I tried to restate the engine but I couldn't start. I found out my fuel pump stop working bc it was shaking and lost the power and shuts off by itself. It's cranking strong but not getting any gas to start so while I was sitting by the hwy for 3 hours I researched and find out that it is fuel pump failure as 2003 Audi and it's shame that it's general problem in Audi's 2004 A4 and there is no recall for that problem. So I request to recall for this fuel pump.

11 Fuel Pump problem of the 2004 Audi A4

Failure Date: 11/01/2010

My Audi A4 2004 quattro 1. 8l car recently stopped working one random morning. The car would not turn on at all. I had the car towed to and Audi specialist who informed me that the fuel pump on my car was bad and that in his personal opinion I should research this problem and contact Audi corporate. Upon researching this problem I found that the 2003 model of my car had a recall out for its fuel pump. Upon further research I found numerous complaints on the internet of people with the 2004 model of this car having the same problems with the fuel pump. I contacted Audi corporate and explained my situation they told me that since the recall was only for the 2003 model and my car was out of waranty that they couldnt help me. They explained that the fuel pump was only recalled on the 2003 model because they used a different part for the 2004 model. Well it doesnt matter if they used a different part or not because the fuel pumps are still going wide spread among the 2004 model. Audi needs to take responsibility for the fact that the 2004 model is having the same fuel pump problems as the 2003 model and needs to be recalled as well. Audi told me that they would make a note of my complaint but thats all they could do. Im stuck in a situation where my car which I payed a lot of money for and have been saving for most of my life now does not work because of a faulty part which Audi will take no credit for.

Fortunately, I was right at a gas station when it happend, so I was able to pull off highway and out of traffic safely. I see many many stories about this porblem. Car loses power as it travels . Has been to dealer for analysis and fuel pump replacement recommended. Checked and found recall campaign 07v375000 is active. Dealer refuses saying our car is not elegible even though symptoms are identical and make, model and year are same. They claim VIN is not in recall base. Who determines the accuracy of the VIN numbers eligible? we have spent several hundreds of dollars to try and fix the problem over the past year and after several diagnosis we are told it is the fuel pump. We just recently found out about the recall.

16 Fuel Pump problem of the 2009 Audi A4

Failure Date: 05/27/2010

I was driving my new 2009 Audi A4 which had less than 3500 miles on it at the time when first the transmission changes began to be very abrupt. I thought nothing of it at first and traffic on the westside highway in new york city was fairly congested so the speeds were not that high. Suddenly, the transmission stops shifting all together and all the lights car's dashboard turn on before the engine simply shuts off I roll to a halt in the center lane of the westside highway and use the battery to turn on my hazard lights. I repeatedly tried to restart the engine and it would start for about a second before the whole car began to vibrate heavily before the engine would shut down. The police were called and they escorted the tow-truck off the highway. The car was locked in the tow-truck depot until the next morning when it was given to the Audi service department where they ran tests and determined that the fuel pump had broken. They replaced the pump and the car was returned to me a few days later.

17 Fuel Pump problem of the 2004 Audi A4

Failure Date: 05/07/2010

My wife was driving on the 405 freeway at 60mph when the engine stalled and she had to go across 4 lanes to get to the emergency shoulder with no power. Other cars had to brake hard to avoid her so she could move over. We had it towed to the Audi dealer and they said the fuel pump had to be replaced at a cost of $551. I did some research and found out there was a recall for fuel pumps on 2003 A4 and told them that my 2004 has the same problem. They disagree and said the 2004 models are fine and I have to pay for all repairs since the car is out of warranty. This is a real safety issue that they refuse to acknowledge even though it's identical to the problem of the 2003 models being recalled. They offer no apologies and I'm stuck with the repair bill.

20 Fuel Pump problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 03/05/2010

My wife and I own a Audi A4 cabriolet that recently had to have the fuel pump replaced. The fuel pump was causing a very noticeable vibration in the fuel tank. Audi was called and told me that our vehicle was not in the group that qualified for fuel pump replacement. The car only been driven has 85,000 miles and in my opinion a fuel pump problem is premature and unsafe. Upon Audi's refusal to replace the pump I called my warranty company to pay for the replacement of the fuel pump. Continental warranty refused to pay for the replacement pump. The reasoning behind their decision is that the pump must have complete failure be fore they would honor my warranty. Am I supposed to stall at a railroad crossing or high speed intersection before the car is considered non-drivable?.

21 Fuel Pump problem of the 2007 Audi A4

Failure Date: 02/23/2010

Upon reading of a high number of failures and excessive wear on those yet to fail with under 50k miles on them, I check the "cam follower" inside the high pressure fuel pump of my 2007 Audi A4. Sure enough, it exhibits signs of excessive wear and well on it's way to failure - and expensive repairs and replacement parts. Audi has issued a technical service bulletin on the problem. I only have 6 months of warranty to go. Upon failure, repairs are approx $1,100. 00.

2004 Audi A4. Engine started making noise. Took to dealer for service and fuel filter was replaced. Seemed to be fixed, two weeks later on new year's eve we were driving to a party when the car started making noise again and then stalled and all power was lost. Luckily we avoided getting in an accident. Had it towed to dealer who informed us it was a failed fuel pump. 26 Fuel Pump problem of the 2004 Audi A4

Failure Date: 12/16/2009

Driving along at 55mph, car lost all power. I drifted to the shoulder, luckily there was a wide shoulder. After an hour waiting for a two truck I opened the fuse box to see if I could see an issue. Found that the fuel pump fuse was blown. Replaced fuse, car started immediately. This has happened 2 more times. Despite being under warranty, dealer says they can't do anything to help me because the failure does not "throw a code". For now I do not drive the car with my family in it for fear of getting stuck, or worse, having an accident on the highway or in an intersection.

29 Fuel Pump problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 09/21/2009

On 9/21/2009, my car was diagnosed with a fuel pump failure causing a constant moaning noise by the keys Audi dealership service in van nuys. I was told that the fuel pump is increasingly failing to distribute the fuel into the engine and will eventually stop fully functioning. In search of more information on the diagnosis, I have found a recall report on certain vehicles matching my car model, year, and engine type with similar problems that could present a risk of crash. However, Audi denied that my car is qualified for the replacement of the fuel pump free of charge. I am, on the other hand , suspicious of negligence on the part of Audi in full compliance for a recovery of such a vital defect that cause a stoppage a blood flow, in essence, in to a highly regarded Audi engine which falsely relied upon by the unfortunate loyal Audi customers like me. I strongly believe that my case deserves a further investigation. I hope that my complaint will bring light to the problem that other drivers like me can benefit and let the blood flow safely again. Thank you.
