1 Structure problem of the 2005 Audi A4

Failure Date: 10/18/2010

2005 Audi cabriolet convertible. The rear window is parting from the roof. The glue is not holding. This is a major safety concern as the window could leave the vehicle at high speeds and crash into other vehicles. Audi refuses to take responsibility. This is the 2nd Audi convertible I've owned (prev 2003) and this was a problem then as well. Something needs to be done before someone gets hurt.

Found info on-line regarding several other owners experiencing this problem Audi of America refuses responsibility while Audi germany accepts full responsibility. This is a safety hazard. I'm afraid the window will fall out while on the highway.

3 Structure problem of the 2008 Audi A4

Failure Date: 07/28/2010

I recently purchased a 2008 Audi A4 3. 2l cabriolet. About 4 weeks ago, while driving, I noticed it sounded like one of my windows was open, as I could hear other vehicles driving by louder than normal. I tried rolling up the windows several times with no change in sound. All windows were up. Once I arrived at home, I did a walk around inspection of my car, and saw that my rear window was detached from the convertible top. There was no damage to the window or convertible top, just the glue/sealant had worn off (after only 2 years!). There was very little adhesive left on the top-center of the window. It was hanging on by about a 2" strip of adhesive. This trip home was 26 miles on the highway at speeds of >55mph. Had there been a little more wind or the need for evasive maneuvers, this window could have easily detached fully, and hit other vehicles. After doing research online, this is a common problem for this vehicle. The only Audi dealership on island couldn't get me in for >2 weeks. Due to not wanting rain damage, or the window to cause a mvc, I purchased some silicone adhesive/sealant and put it back on myself. I can no longer put my top down without the window separating again.

5 Structure problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 04/28/2010

When I purchased my pre-owned 03 Audi A4 cabrio in may 2010 failed to notice that the bottom left and right corners of the rear window was separating from the fabric at the top. Fast forward to may 2011 its now spread enough that you could reach a whole hand into the headliner. When it rains part of the back seat, rear deck and areas of the trunk get very wet was separating from the fabric at the bottom left and right corners of the rear window, enough that you could reach a whole hand into the headliner. When it rains the headliner around the rear glass, part of the back seat, rear deck and areas of the trunk get very wet. With the smell after it dries, im sure I have mold and mildew issues as well.

6 Structure problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 09/18/2009

2003 Audi A4 cabriolet, the car is practically new, only driven in summer months. The rear window has separated from the roof, apparently the window is only sealed to the roof with a layer of glue. The window can fall out at anytime as a result of the glue loosening. The only alternative is a completely new roof.

7 Structure problem of the 2009 Audi A4

Failure Date: 04/28/2009

New car purchase 2009, wheel shimmy noticed in first few days. I asked two other people to drive the car and no one ever felt the shake. I decided to wait until the first check in at 5k, of course the shimmy was more noticeable. The diagnosis is the control arms are faulty and redesigned parts are due to be installed w/in the week. I am not certain how dangerous a faulty control arm is, but I've been pretty disappointed that the car was not perfect.

8 Structure problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 07/18/2008

Rear window came unglued and could not be repaired on my 2003 A4 cabriolet. Audi dealer replaced top. My cost was 4000.

9 Structure problem of the 2003 Audi A4

Failure Date: 09/11/2007

The adhesive which holds in the rear window on my 2003 Audi A4 3. 0 convertible came unglued, resulting in the window gradually falling away from the roof. I had to duct tape it in as I didn't want it popping out completely while driving, and to prevent rain / moisture from getting in. This could be a serious driving hazard should it dislodge while operating. Fyi, the car had been babied since day one; garage kept and hand washed. Audi of America did finally agree to pay for a new top (about 6k retail) but could not tell me if the new top had different adhesive (I don't want a repeat of this circumstance a fews yrs down the line). I researched this, and there are several other owners w/ this problem. Most cars were 03's at about 40-50k miles. In my opinion, Audi needs to acknowledge there was a defect w/ the adhesive and offer replacement at n/c. If you have an A4 or s4 convertible, monitor where the glass fits in the top. Listen for a "flapping" noise at highway speeds. The main mechanic said in addition the adhesive coming undone, there also appeared to be shrinkage of the top. I do not know, from an engineering standpoint, if the shrinkage was the main problem (I. E, the "pulling away" from the top) or if it was a combination of both problems that culminated in the end result. Regardless, Audi needs to address this before there is a serious problem w/ the window flying out at freeway speeds.

10 Structure problem of the 2001 Audi A4

Failure Date: 12/31/2003

Location of cup holder on the dash is a defect in design, should of been placed lower on the dash. Open sprite can spilled onto the left side of the climate controls, and the controls now stick. Either you can push them hard and get them to turn on, but if you do, then they won't release. Possible cause for accident as front and rear defogger will not operate.
