1 Automatic Transmission Cooler problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2003

There appears to be a possible design defect that I believe merits reporting and possible investigation. I have 2001 Audi A6. The replacement of the oil filter at a jiffy lube resulted in damage to the oil cooler which cause me to suffer a $800 plus repair bill at the dealer. The dealer technician advised jiffy lube that they are aware of the potentiality of problems in replacement of the oil filter and as result have one mechanic secure the cooler with channel locks while the other removes the oil filter. There are no present warnings for shops of this method to assure no damage to the oil cooler. I presented a b. A. R. Complaint in CA. And took up a small claims action for recovery, jiffy lube stepped up but Audi refuses and denies any possible design flaw in their vehicle. As a consumer I cannot understand how it should require two technicians to remove and replace an oil filter.
