Letter from Audi customer complaint reimbursement service action regarding ignition coil inspection/replacement letter dated July 2009 was received and still waiting for Audi of America inc. To notify me if parts are available at the local dealer and since then have not heard from them. Please look into this matter. Thanks.
2003 Audi A6 had problems with the engine light, smoking, and little to no acceleration. Consumer states that after a few repairs the problem is not solved and wants to be refunded her money. The dealer informed the consumer the #1 and #3 coil needed to be replaced. The consumer drove less than a mile and the check engine light came back on blinking and the vehicle was moving very hard. When the consumer returned to the dealer, they diagnosed the vehicle again, the consumer was told the #6 ignition coil needed to be replaced. Because no one ever test drove the vehicle when it was suppose to be fixed the first time, the dealer replaced the #6 coil for free. The consumer left the dealership again only to have the engine light come again, but it wasn't blinking. The dealer diagnosed the failure and stated it was the torque converter clutch circuit performance.
I have a 2006 Audi A6 3. 2 quattro. It has 53,215 miles on it. So 3,215 miles after warranty expires so does the ignition coil which has been recalled on almost every model year up 2005 for the last 5-6 years. But it's not on recall for my car yet. To me if they have had a known problem with these coils that they should take care of the problem or be responsible for the repairs. They said because there is no current recall there's nothing they can do, and the fact that they have had a recall for all there cars for the last 6 years means nothing. . . So I paid to have the coil replaced myself since there would be more damage done to the car if not corrected.

Faulty ignition coils (so far 3 out of 6 cylinders went bad). On three occasions after starting and putting the car into the gear, shaking ensued and the "check engine" light turned on. The car had to be towed each time to the dealer where the faulty parts were replaced.
2002 Audi A6 breakdown. Nar 06/26/2003
the consumers vehicle broke down and had to be towed to the nearest dealership upon arrival all of the ignition coils had to be replaced. However, the Audi dealership did not make the customer aware of the ignition coils being inoperative until the incident had occurred. The consumer was very dissatisfied that Audi did not make customers aware of the vehicle defect. The consumer would like further investigations on any updated defects to date.

Ignition coils are defective and are reducing the performance of vehicle. Consumer received a letter from the manufacturer acknowledging defective coils, but will only replace when they fail. Ph.
The ignition coils have failed on three separate occasions, which is not only inconvenient but dangerous as the car loses power without warning. Audi admits that the coils are defective but will not replace the remaining three until they actually fail. This makes the car unreliable as well as dangerous as the car loses power without warning. Audi acknowledges that the ignition coils are defective but will not replaced them until they fail. As there are six of them on my car, Audi acknowledges that the remaining three may also fail (one ignition failed twice so four more may fail). Accordingly the car is unreliable as well as dangerous but Audi refuses to put in non defective ignition coils. ****dimsii ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*****770841****.
