3 times while driving engine stalled. Car will restart after coasting off road & restarting it. Been to two Audi dealers under warranty. Car displayed no fault code. Only happens occasionally so neither dealer has seen the problem to fix it. My wife has video of the last engine stall but still no fix. We don’t trust or feel car is safe to drive.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #2

Vehicle had first oil change at 10k miles on 1/1/2023 in April of 2023 started noticing smoke and a burning smell coming out of the engine, took car in to dealership. They stated on 4/25/2023 that there was a "small oil leak," and that they repaired and cleaned up the leakage but they wanted to drive the vehicle once more before they released it to me. I have this all in a text message. 12/20/2023 took vehicle in for 20k service and they said there is a major leakage they said in a video they sent "found lots of oil on top of the engine, the bolts that hold the cambridge (not sure if thats what he said/spelling) down are loose, so we will be pulling this all apart and resealing and replacing all those bolts to fix those leaks".

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #3

The vehicle’s engine failed and ignited a fire. There is an active safety recall for the engine connecting rod of this vehicle. Nhtsa recall number, 22v753. My husband was assigned a loaner vehicle owned by Audi ontario with an active manufacture safety recall. The dealership was aware of the recall. The recall was not disclosed and the defective vehicle had not been inspected or repaired by Audio ontario. My husband and my 3 year son were in the defective vehicle on the freeway when it malfunctioned. The engine burst into flames and began to lose function while driving in the carpool lane. The engine ultimately exploded on the side of the freeway with my husband and child nearly escaping with their lives. This incident resulted in both sustaining injuries and trauma. Audi ontario’s negligence was reckless, dangerous, and displayed a complete disregard for human life. I believe Audi ontario’s should be thoroughly investigated due to the threat they pose to public safety and recall laws they ignored. Audi ontario breached their duty to provide a safe vehicle as a loaner, failed to disclose the defective’s vehicle recall or repair status, continuously loaned out an unrepaired recalled vehicle, committed gross negligence resulting in injures, trauma, and child endangerment. The dealer still has not disclosed recall status or repairs of the defective vehicle. I believe the dealer is trying to cover up their negligence and safety violations. It is unknown if the vehicle has been inspected by the manufacture, police, or insurance representatives. Shortly after entering the carpool lane, my husband noticed the “check engine" light come on and the vehicle began to smoke. The engine burst into flames and began to lose function while attempting to exit the freeway. Once parked on the shoulder of the freeway, the vehicle was immediately turned off. Shortly after the engine exploded.

I'm concerned about the engine connecting rod recall. I'm not too faithful of a dealer replacing the engine if that's what needed. If it is and we have problems, I will want a new Q5.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #5

I had recall 22v573 performed in November 2022 (see attached service record), and they found no evidence of metal in the engine. Approximately 1,000 miles later my car stopped working suddenly on the highway while driving 65 miles an hour with no warning, except 30 seconds before when some warnings flashed and back smoke started coming out the back. It was completely inoperable. This is extremely dangerous as someone could have run into me from behind. I had to push the vehicle off the highway, which is also extremely dangerous. Audi roadside was "not available", and I had to walk to a safe area for a tow truck that took 5 hours. The recall "repair" is not enough. You cannot just look to see if there are metal shavings, and if not, assume the car will not have them in the future. All the engines should be replaced unless they can develop a repair for the problem that guarantees this will not happen in the future. Who is to say this won't happen to someone in a year? my car has 9,000 miles and there was no evidence of the metal shavings at 8,000.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #6

There is an open recall (action number 13i5) for this vehicle, and I've scheduled the appointment with the dealership in morton grove, chicago. But they said they don't how much time they can fix the issue, maybe a month or longer if the engine needs to be replaced. And they can't not provide me with a loaner because there is no one available. I contacted the Audi, and they also said they don't know how long will it take to fix the vehicle, which is ridiculous as no ones knows how long will it take to fix the issue.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #7

With just 800 miles on the vehicle after only having had it for 3 weeks after purchase, we were on the highway at 11pm at night and the engine started violently shaking to the point that the vehicle was undriveable; the emergency warnings on the dashboard came on, and the more we accelerated the more the vehicle shook. The longer we drove it to get to an emergency exit, the more it started shaking. Within about 30-60 seconds the car became completely undriveable. We were told conflicting things from the Audi service center and their technicians. We were first told that this was a complete engine failure that would need a new engine. We were told cylinder 3 lost pressure and was unresponsive. Then we were told it was just one faulty spring that needed to be replaced, and the vehicle was supposedly fine to run. Simultaneously, and in one-on-one conversations, we were privately told by our service adviser flor fuentes that she had no confidence that the underlying engine issue was actually fixed, and that she felt the service center got lucky in identifying one temporary patch to the problem that got the engine running again, and that she herself would not feel comfortable getting in this car pregnant or putting a newborn child into this car. We then retained a senior independent Audi service technician to make an assessment of Audi’s repair work, and they found several corners were cut in the process of allegedly fixing the vehicle, not least that Audi did not follow its own test driving protocols before trying to hand it back to us. The independent technician also advised that he could not assure our safety based on the path the dealership took in the alleged repair and the corners cut. We also have a recorded conversation with the head of Audi service at Audi central houston where he acknowledges they didn't follow their own safety checks and standards in the process. I have service center repair records and correspondence but your upload portal is not working.

Engine And Engine Cooling problem #9

On June 1 2022, driving at a speed of approx 20 mph, the car brakes came on suddenly, 4 windows came down and the vehicle came to an abrupt halt in the middle of the road. A message came on to the effect that the electric system had failed. The vehicle was not driveable and was towed to the Audi dealership (south coast Audi, santa ana, CA) the same day. I was very concerned about this issue and so contacted both the dealership and Audi USA to request that it be investigated without delay given this issue could endanger lives or cause serious injury. Despite calling the dealership and Audi USA, the vehicle has not yet to my knowledge even been inspected. The dealer advised me that because they are so busy they may not even look at it until June 20 (20 days after the incident. I called Audi USA and advise them that this is a safety concern that they must investigate. Audi USA contacted the dealer but simply advised me that they had made a request to the dealer to keep me updated. Audi has otherwise failed to take any action to investigate the cause of this.

Car jerks strongly when slightly accelerate on an incline. This jerking happened 2 more times. After 10 minutes driving on highway, car dashboard shown electrical system: malfunction and forced immediate exit off highway. We were on road trip and have to disable hybrid system and hoped no more car malfunction for the next 600 miles home. Took car to 2 service dealers and none could find error codes. . Read more...
