1 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2017 Audi Q5

Failure Date: 02/12/2020

Front brakes appear to squeak loudly after initiation with moisture; more seriously there is considerable locking/sliding of the brakes when attempting to stop on snow and ice -- at a more dangerous distance than our other 2 vehicles in similar situations. Vehicle (2017 Q5) has 22k miles with the abs system/tires appearing to be in good working order. My wife and I have used multiple stopping techniques (pumping brakes, applying soft pressure, and also hard pressure) with the same result: on 2 occasions the vehicle essentially locked up and slid 1/2 way through an intersection. Fortunately no pedestrians/vehicles were nearby. I read several blogs regarding this with other owners citing the same problems. There appears to be vw/Audi observances regarding issues with 2018 vehicles with the lack of either a supplier-deficient caliper spray/loose bolt in the front braking area. We are kindly asking to review this situation to determine if others have reported the same problem. We will also be asking our dealer to fully inspect the vehicle. We are aware that snow/ice represent challenges -- but this vehicle has scared my wife/I multiple times by not stopping within a reasonable distance despite the adverse conditions.

2 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2018 Audi Q5

Failure Date: 08/09/2019

I have reported to sewickley Audi, my closest dealer, on several appointments that my brakes severly grind upon application. I would believe that the rotors are severly scorerd or warped. It happens upon first use every day, as well as a loud grinding upon every stop especially from highway speeds. I have been told there is nothing wrong with my brakes although I complained from my initial visit , my last inspection and recently brought it in specifically for that. The noise/ grinding is bad, but the lack of quality braking has me more concerned. I am going to take it to "midas muffler" or someone else to check. I believe other Q5 and cross linked volkswagens have caliper problems and I believe my car does as well but they are unwilling to repair it under warranty to save cost.

3 Brake Disc Caliper problem of the 2012 Audi Q5

Failure Date: 06/22/2019

When I replaced the front brake rotor and pad, I found the lower caliper guide pin bushing was stuck. It stuck so badly and took a lot of hammering to get it out. The bushing was heavily rusted. Since the caliper will not move with a stuck bushing, the outside pads will not fully engage with the rotor to provide adequate braking force. Noticed the inner pad is almost gone while the outer pads still have 5mm left. The bushing is such a small yet safety critical part, should be made of stainless steel. Audi charges more than $40 for spare, with that price, one would expect better quality. Yet it seems Audi puts profit above safety.
