I have a 2010 Audi Q5 that is leaking gas on the ground while engine is running while sitting still or driving down the road. . I removed the passenger rear seat which is directly on top of where the leak is coming from. I then removed the access panel for the fuel pump . Gas was sitting on top of the fuel pump in puddles. I decided to start the car with the access panel removed to see where exactly the leak was coming from and how big of leak it was. Upon starting the engine gas sprayed directly out of the top of the fuel pump's white plastic dome top, not the fuel pump flange. Perimeter. It is a large leak, it sprays like a geyser unhindered hitting the top of the access panel and running onto the ground. You can see visible cracks in the top of the fuel pump. My gas mileage which was 21 mpg per tank is now14 mpg on last fill up so my guess is about 7 gallons of gas leaks onto the ground per fill up. I am afraid to drive the vehicle in this condition and the fumes are overwhelming in the cabin of the vehicle and if you roll down the window the smell gets worse. . . In the pics uploaded you can see the spray and visible cracks.
My car started to smell like gas and when I took it to the dealer the said it was the flange/ fuel pump and that the recall was already done but the same issue persist. The yet me drive home with gas pouring out of my car after seeing it and want to charge me 1800 for a recalled part. I was terribly scared and cannot drive an unsafe car.

Tl the contact owns a 2010 Audi Q5. The contact noticed a fuel odor inside the vehicle after it was serviced per NHTSA campaign number: 16v660000 (fuel system, gasoline) at inskip's warwick automall (1515 bald hill rd, warwick, ri 02886). The vehicle was towed to Audi natick (549 worcester st, natick, MA 01760) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact researched the failure online and found the recall. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the vehicle had already been repaired per the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.
My vehicle was recalled for a fuel pump issue which was repaired with tape in 2018. The fuel pump is now leaking fuel causing a fuel smell in the vehicle as well as in my garage and house while the car is parked in the garage. When I took my vehicle to be inspected and repaired I was told the original repair was not substantial enough to fix the original defect. Audi reports no new recalls on the vehicle and that there was a recall on a small selection of vehicles in the original recall. This is a hazard and could cause a fire. All vehicles in the original recall should be recalled again and repaired properly, with more than tape.
High pressure fuel pump has been leaking gasoline into my engine oil. It has caused issues when starting my car. This has been going on for a while .

Well first it was the takata airbag recall, but the one I'm complaining about is the recall for the fuel pump and also the fuel pump wiring which was also removed from our vehicle, and we're like two about how it was part of the recall for the fuel pump . Anyway I've already put a complaint about this and how it has malfunctioned other important components of our vehicle including the fuel pump flange which was also replaced coils spark plugs sensors etc. What I'm complaining about now is I've contacted Audi USA and they have string us along for almost a year going back-and-forth to different Audi dealerships and getting different responses or different diagnosis of what is wrong with the car. Recently we had our Audi Q5 2011 fully diagnosed and now we come to a whole new dilemma and malfunction of our vehicle. We knew the fuel injectors were going bad because of the wiring which was not properly installed for the fuel pump which caused the alternator also to go bad and the sensors and not to forget about the spark plugs and coils. We thought we finally were going to get our car fixed at no charge to us even though we I knew that our warrantee was outdated, but we thought maybe since the recall had a lot to do with it Audi would take care of it. Well almost a year and guess what Audi declined the work of replacing the fuel injectors. When I asked them why they continue to give me the same response which I already know, that my vehicle is out of warranty, tell me something I don't know, we were only asking for the right thing to be done and what seems fair. Last time I ever buy an Audi.
Tl the contact owns a 2012 Audi Q5. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v660000 (fuel system). The vehicle was taken to Audi west houston (15865 katy fwy, houston, TX 77094) to be repaired. While repairing the fuel pump flange, the dealer cut the fuel line, which prevented the vehicle from being driven and allowed fuel to leak in the back seat. The dealer did not claim responsibility for the failure. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 130,000.

2011 Audi Q5 wouldn't hold idle, wouldn't accelerate on city street, stalled at a turn check engine light came on and it wouldn't start back up not even turn over. It had to be towed to the mechanic. Fuel pump electronics faulty, they replaced the fuel pump module. Audi has 96k miles.
"fuel pump" while driving home after a road trip on the highway (in the left fast lane) my car suddenly lost power and would not accelerate when pressing on the accelerator. The "ecp" warning light came on and I had to ease the car to a stop on the left shoulder. After about 5+ minutes, I was able to start the car again and move it over to the right-hand lane when the car stuttered and shut off again. This time I was on the right shoulder. After another few minutes, I was able to start the car again and called ahead to take it in the nearest Audi dealership (in the town I was returning home from). The car had seemed a little hesitant to start. The next day (just before closing), that Audi dealership's diagnostic tests determined the error code to be '2043758/8 punch 2 & 3' which required replacement of the fuel pump. Four parts needed: fuel pump, cap, washer and 'repair set'. Since this dealership couldn't explain what the 'repair set' was needed for - the most expensive part - I called other Audi dealerships and searched the internet for information. No other source mentioned a 'repair set'. Also, all but one other parts department said that the fuel pump part was backordered by 1-2 weeks due to many recent issues with the this part. Since it seemed that I was being taken advantage of by that first dealership, I purchased the 3 parts (pump, cap & washer) at the only Audi dealership that seemed to have the pump (about an hour away from my home town) and made a service appointment at another dealership near the town I was visiting. A convoluted process to get my Q5 fixed but due to the number of reported issues with the fuel pump according to the Audi mechanic, there is a problem with the Audi fuel pump in addition to fuel pump flange recall.

I hear (Volkswagen) is recalling certain model year 2009-2012 Audi Q5, and 2007-2012 Audi q7 vehicles equipped with gasoline engines. The fuel pump flange on the affected vehicles may crack, allowing fuel to leak. My Q5 have the same problem I don't know why I didn't get the recall.
Takata recall - this recall was started in February of 2016 yet I was never informed by Audi that my vehicle needed the air bag fixed and the Audi website states that a solution is still pending. I also have a second recall related to the fuel pump that began in September of 2016. I need to know if the vehicle can already be fixed for the takata recall and until what date I have to take it to an Audi dealer for repair.
Takata recall. . Nothing. . . Has happened, and I have been notified of this issue by Audi. . But wanted to record that nothing has need done. There is also a fuel pump flange recall that has not been addressed. No issues at this time.
Takata recall with no fix, also a problem with the fuel pump which the car can light on fire there is also no current repair. The dealer said we are screwed there's nothing they can do. My wife got into an accident with the loaner car if it was our car that is plagued by the recall things could have been worst.
Takata recall and fuel pump flange remedy not available in timely manner.
Horrified mother of 2 small children. Recently noticed when driving the vehicle, a gas/fuel smell consumes the entire car. The smell was so bad it made me sick as well as set off the carbon dioxide alarm in my garage. My toddler son sits on the side where the tank is and of course that is where the smell is the strongest. I feared that a explosion would happen in my house due to smell being so strong. . . We finally took the SUV in and repair company stated that I had a fuel leak. He stated that the pump had a crack in it and was spraying fuel all under the car. Repair has cost me $900 to replace the fuel pump, adaptor, and rings.
Takata recall head curtain bag recall fuel pump flange recall I've had no accident or malfunction as yet, but want the products to be replaced in my vehicle as soon as possible. I've contacted the dealership and in the last 6 months they have not been able to schedule any time for the recommended repair.
The indoor odor of the car smelled strong of gas. The area around or under the car was completely dry. The smell was prevalent while moving or parked. The gas tank was dry at the nozzle. I drive my family in the car, including my grandchildren. I was concerned for our safety so had my local mechanic evaluate. They discovered a pin hole leak in the fuel pump under the rear seat and gas was all over the gas tank. Any spark would have set the car in flames and possible explosion given the location of the leak. This repair cost $1131. This obvious flaw should be identified by Audi and a recall should be in place to replace this defective part.
My wife called me while I was away on business and said that there was a smell of fuel in the house. I asked her to make sure to check the oven and she said it was not that type of gas and that it smelled like auto fuel. I came home and we had appointments to check out new homes and we noticed that the inside of the car smelled like fuel and I had to drive with the windows down and no a/c because we have two small children as well and the odor was stronger when we had the a/c on. We park our 2010 Audi Q5 in our garage and when we got home from our appointments I could smell a very strong smell of fuel coming from the rear passenger wheel well. We have not overfilled the car and there must be some kind of leak. This is my wife's car and she has been complaining of bad headaches and nausea over the past couple of weeks and my children ride in this car as well so this to me is a health concern that if the fuel pump or some other function of the fuel system fails that harmful gasoline fumes could enter the cabin or even into our home and cause damaging effects to my families health. I will be taking it into the dealership in reno nevada and will update you on what the outcome is.
The contact owns a 2009 Audi Q5. While driving at any speed, there was a strong fuel odor emitting from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the plastic fuel pump in the fuel tank was fractured and released fuel beneath the vehicle. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 50,000.
My Q5 had over the last 4 weeks a funky gasoline smell on the interior /exterior of the vehicle while parked or driven. My concern raised when I have seen my fuel consumption going up, so I had it checked by my local mechanic. He found that the cover of the pump assembly was cracking the top part of the fuel pump canister and gasoline is sitting in the assembly. So the smell interior and exterior is coming forth cracked fuel assembly. I had no accident or impact to the car that could cost this problem and reached out to Audi USA to hopefully adress this issue . In the meanwhile I'm not driving the car since it is a fire hazard and could blow up in front of me. See picture attached.
I am very concerned about my safety at this point , the recall is the sdi driver frontal air bag and fuel pump flange, for the airbag it has been over 8 month and the parts are still not avaialble??????????????? what?.
I purchased vehicle July 2015 after 1 month I would smell gas fumes over time it became aggressively strong I took vehicle in for servicing where I was told they didnt find anything. . . 1month later took it back demanded they fix it I had to contact corporate found out they had to replace fuel pump & gasket in tank. . . In addition, oil consumption is an issue which is still a big problem. From 10/14/15 to 7/4/2016 the oil indicator asking for 1 quart. This serms to be happening 1x month. The service tech. Inforned me there was a recall regarding this & my vehicle may not have been serviced for this. Im not a person who drives long distance or highway I travel to work and occassional errands nonetheless this is a nuisance not to mention the financial obligation. Why am I paying so much for a luxury vehicle that I dont enjoy.
Drive 2012 Audi Q5 2. 0t premium plus. I was driving back home and malfunction indicator light (mil) showed up. The engine is making whistling sound. I took my car to Audi dealership and they informed me that the high pressure fuel pump and some other parts would need replacement. I got a letter from Audi about warranty extension for fuel injector to 120k miles. As per the dealership, this is a different issue. When researched online, this is a very known issue and alot of Audi 2. 0t engines have come up with this issue. My car just went out of warranty and is at 54k miles, this is upsetting that such a known issue and I've to pay for this.
Drove on hawthorne boulevard close to torrance boulevard less than a mile away from Audi dealership when the car start to shake and almost got rear ended. I was able to pull aside and after few seconds the engine was working fine but a message on the board mentioning the auto stop start function was not working properly and the associated symbol turned on on the dash. I took the car to Audi dealership and they confirm that the fuel pump needs to be replaced.
The vehicle had been running rough for a week or so. Then we noticed a strong gas smell coming from the car. We brought the car in for service and it was discovered that the plastic fuel pump in the gas tank had developed fractures and was spraying fuel under the car beneath the rear passenger seat. The mechanic related we were very lucky that there wasn't a fire. When he replaced the pump with a factory replacement part. He noted that he could feel the plastic top of the new fuel pump pulsating. He contacted Audi to see if there was a recall and there was none. The mechanic feels the part will fail again. You can see tiny fractures in the top of the fuel pump. I still have the old pump if you need it I will be happy to send it to you. This is one of the worst fuel leaks the mechanic has seen and feels it is potentially very dangerous. The mechanic felt so strongly about this that he suggested making a complaint to NHTSA and to get rid of the car.
My car (2011 Audi Q5) engine abruptly shut down at low speed twice on the same day, once at a stop sign and second time while backing out of the garage. About 2 weeks ago, the car stopped while trying to pull out of a parking lot at speed of about 10 mph or less. Fuel tank was more than half full and battery is good too. Car is less than 3 years old with service date starting may 2011. Vagcom analysis when connecting the car obdi port to my laptop indicates fault codes 4732, 4735 among several others relating to misfiring cylinders and faults in the fuel pump circuit/electronics. A cursory search on the internet indicates several such incidents with many other car owners where the car had to be towed to the dealership service department to get it fixed. This is a dangerous situation in which car can come to stop in the middle of the road and I hope Audi takes leadership in proactively solving this problem before a serious accident/injury happens to someone.
