The car would not start when I went to pull out of garage. The car was stationary. On the 8th attempt it started and I drive it to work. It felt like it was going to stall out when I stopped or slowed down. I put the key in ignition it would go on but not start and turn off. The epc light went on. This is the first and only time this has happened however it still feels like it is going to stall out when I am in pro or stopped at a light or when I slow down under 10 mph. I took it to the Audi dealership and was told it was the timing chain which is a 2600. 00 repair.

Transmission shift gears very bad, while breaking, from 2 gear to 1st gear car "jumps" forward, I seen a lot of people complaining about it. Somethimes when I put in to reverse, it takes a minute until it start driving.
After having done the epa & carb approved emissions modifications 2014-2016 3. 0l tdi (generation 2 pc) emission recal 23v4, the car developed a lurch or hesitation between 30 and 40 mph. The service advisor at the dealer said there's nothing can be done. This is a safety concern because I'm afraid the car will eventually stop in the middle of the road, lose control or cause a crash.

The sunroof has a leakage which as causes damage to sunscreen. The water from the sunroof has leaked into vehicles electrical system and has caused back up camera, parking, the stereo system to malfunction. Water from the roof has also affected the engine's blower it has short-circuited so that the ac and heater no longer put out air.

Vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. Happened [intermittently] when decelerating; instead of gearing down to idle/stop, the engine continued to rev. . . I had to lean heavily on the brakes [which then felt mushy] to continue to a stop.

While driving down the expressway in chicago, transmission, and all safety features completely shut off. Pressing on accelerator had no effect, and with limited steering was able to pull to roadside barely missing high-speed traffic. Expressway roadside is narrow, so was nearly hit by many cars while waiting for tow service. Car would not restart and with full electronic transmission, no ability to put into neutral. Audi roadside assistance did not provide timely tow service. Extremely dangerous and unsafe.

Oil leaks badly from rear main seal and timing cover.
Purchased a 2018 Audi Q5 in July 2017. The engine lost power or acceleration when making a turn. Took it to the dealer 2 times for the same problem and cannot reproduce the problem.
At 62000 miles there is a faulty bearing in the transmition that is causing noise to resonate in the cabin. I took the car to a reputable independent mechanic in san francisco and his diagnosis was that it was a manufacture defect, and I should not accept this from Audi since this problem should not have occurred at such low mileage.
I was driving my car around some blind curves when I heard a clank kind of sound and clicking and then lost power fortunately I was close enough I coasted home. I was very lucky. I could not get the engine to start and had it towed to the Audi dealer he said, engine no start no power: found engine cranks without compression. Found timing chain stretched and jumped timing. Removed and inspected valves and found all valves to be bent. At this time we need to replace the cylinder head and timing chain and related parts. Parts: $4800 labor: $4835 total: $9635. 00 regards, I believe this is a problem that actually is so common that several mechanics have websites on how to protect your chain from doing this. I of course had no idea about any of this before. . . Because no one told me it was an issue!!!! or I would have done the preventative care. Also, I just read they are doing a class action suit with this in new jersey. I can tell you I am feeling very nervous about driving my Audi again!!! I have no confidence in these chains!.
Takata recall. The contact owns a 2010 Audi Q5. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign numbers: 16v660000 (power train) and 16v078000 (air bags); however, the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
The vehicle stopped at the highway at around 65mph due to coolant leak/water pump leak. Emergency stop to the side of the road was necessary as well as vehicle towing. Illuminator light to turn off engine was on. Weather conditions at 100+ fahrenheit had potential of dangerous situation if I would have had my little ones.
Unresolved engine issue. Recall that they will not fix. Unable to trade in vehicle anywhere because of the active recall. Feel trapped in an unsafe 'family' car.
I was driving at highway speed (~65 mph) today when traffic quickly came to a stop and I braked fairly hard. About when the car came to a stop, a "tpms malfunction" (tire pressure monitoring system) error message came on the dash and the car could no longer accelerate, as the engine was disconnected from the transmission. The gear shift lever was in "drive", but the engine was free-revving as if the transmission was in "neutral". I shifted to "s" (sport) mode - no change. I shifted to "park" and then back to "drive" - no change. Traffic on the highway had begun moving and I was stranded, blocking traffic. After another attempt, I shut off the vehicle and turned it back on. At that point, "drive" engaged properly and I was able to drive back home safely. My vehicle has been maintained properly at all regularly scheduled service intervals. I had not experienced this issue before, but, after reading through blogs, it seems like this is an issue that several Audi vehicles have experienced over the last few years and it's not clear if Audi of America considers this recall worthy. My perspective is that this is a significant safety concern and warrants further investigation, as it is intermittent and acute. In other words, it is unpredictable / recurring and can have a serious impact if it happens at the wrong time, unlike a normal wear-and-tear issue. Thank you for taking the time to consider this incident as one that is worthy of further investigation.
Transmission often jerks when slowing down below 10 mph, car jerks forward.
This has happened now several times, when the car comes to a complete stop or just about a complete stop, then trying to accelerate there is no throttle response instead of accelerating as expected. Is the abs system cutting power to the engine? the car is 'dead' for about two seconds and then power is restored. I was almost hit by oncoming traffic. Reportedly, this is apparently widely documented and ongoing since at least the year 2000, and not specific to Audi. . . What is the NHTSA doing about this???.

I purchased a certified preowned Audi Q5 last March 2013. The vehicle was running fine. No problems or concerns. I took the vehicle to an Audi dealer in February 2014 for an annual service and also in March 2014 for my yearly inspection/emissions testing. On April 2014, I had loss the vehicle due to an unknown fire that had started in the car. Yes, my car was engulfed in fire! prior to this fire, I had no problems or messages on my dashboard or smelled smoke while I had drove the car. The car was running fine up until that day. I have no idea what happend to my vehicle. The insurance company had investigated this vehicle, and they stated that arson was not the blame for the fire. They r/o an electrical issue that might of been the cause of the fire. The insurance company had also researched recalls and manufacturer defects, and they claimed there were no issues. I am completely stunned about this incident. The car was parked all day, and I just can't believe out of nowhere that the car had caught on fire. I've been in contact with the dealer where I purchased the vehicle, and they are as shocked as I am about what happen. Hopefully, I'll get an explanation as to why the vehicle had mysteriously caught on fire.
This is the third incident where the car came to a stop, with no throttle response, when I made a hard left turn (u-turn from a standing stop) instead of accelerating as expected. There appear to be several thousand similar complaints in your database, from many different makes, where the abs system cuts power to the engine instead of allowing a rapid acceleration from a standing start, when there is no traction problem, and cutting the power creates an immediate risk of crash by oncoming traffic. The car was 'dead' for about two seconds and then power was restored, allowing me to avoid being hit by oncoming traffic. But the bigger issue appears to be that the abs system will sometimes cut power for no reason, endangering the driver and vehicle. This is apparently widely documented and ongoing since at least the year 2000, and not specific to Audi. Updated 3/20/lj updated 03/20/2014.
The vehicle was purchased with 20,000 miles and has been burning oil since. The car is under warranty and has gone through the manufactures oil consumption test, both 1 and 2 which they are saying barely passed. The car is continuing to burn oil and has gone through phase 1 again for the second time and am being told it passed. Audi states an oil change is good for 10,000 miles and here I am at 7,000 miles having to put oil in it and taking my car to the dealership every few months to test it.
1. Q5 2. 0 has a very harsh downshift whether in automatic mode or in manual/sportronic. Specially 4->3 and 3->2 and 2->1. As a result the car comes to a stop and then jerk forward after the stop (2-1), causing accidents in parking garages specially in tight spots. Audi has acknowledged the issue, applied TSB-37-13-83 software update, even replaced the mechatronic unit but the harsh jerky downshift returns. Dealer says it is not a problem but a "characteristic" of this car. Escalated to Audi of America, and they confirm it is a characteristic of the vehicle and they say they cannot do anything about it. . Read more...
The car suddenly stopped not letting me start the engine or move the car again after two minutes. It was something very dangerous but I was lucky that no other car was behind us at that moment. When we had the chance to switch the car on again, there was an alert symbol shown telling us to drive carefully at very slow speed and preferably to take it to the dealer for service. The dealer had the car few weeks where they changed something in the automatic gear system and its software. This car had previously an engine change more than a year ago for problems in the oil consumption. All this happen in costa rica (not USA).
