There is a current recall on the vehicles for the flange around the fuel pump leaking. The repair does not fix the problem and it will reoccur. Audi will only fix the car once. Next repair is on the owner and costs $1,000 to repair. Audi repair facility admits it is the very problem affected in the recall and that my vehicle is leaking so much fuel it is in imminent danger of catching fire. They will not even let it leave the facility unless it is towed only because of the severity of the leak. Vehicle was taken back to Audi on several occasions after the first recall repair was done saying their was a fuel smell only to have the car returned saying it was normal. Once the warranty expired now they say it has a fuel leak and refuse to pay for repairs.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Audi Q7. The contact stated that the odor of fuel was present inside and outside of the vehicle and the average fuel mileage had decreased while driving the vehicle and the driver discovered a puddle of fuel under the driver side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump flange was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer concord Audi(1300 concord Ave, concord CA) was notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The contact indicated that the vehicle was previously service under the NHTSA recall campaign number 16v66000(fuel system) in November 2016 but the failure still occurred. Mileage was 100,000 . Jft.
In January 2019, while I was driving on CA 110 in excess of 60 mph, the Audi Q7 tdi's glow plug indicator light came on, I lost acceleration and a few minutes later, my engine shut off and I was stuck in the left lane. I had to call 911 and have chp stop all traffic and push my car to the shoulder while I awaited a tow truck. Audi dtla told me that the high pressure fuel pump failed and that there was metal shrapnel in my fuel line and it all had to be replaced. They said this was a diesel warranty covered issue and we did not pay any charge. In June 2019 while driving on interstate 10 in az, the glow plug light came on again and we lost acceleration while driving over 60 mph. We immediately exited the highway and shut off the engine before the engine shut down on us, as it did in January. We waited an hour in 105 degree heat in the middle of nowhere, until we were towed 80 miles to Audi peoria, who claim they cannot identify the problem. They told us to ride in the car on top of the tow truck. We believe there is either an ongoing hpfp issue, or perhaps something related to the diesel modification, or that this particular car is a lemon - 2 breakdowns in 5 months, within 11,500 miles. The scariest part is that we were driving at highway speeds with our children in the car when the car lost acceleration. We were lucky that we did not get hurt or cause any accidents, but the Audi Q7 tdi, whether it's just this vehicle or all 2014 Q7 tdis are not safe. Audi America, inc. Has refused to repurchase the car or provide any other assistance or remedy. We refuse to ride the car because we are scared of another incident. We have warranties on the car, but that only covers repairs, it doesn't prevent you from getting killed on the highway when they cannot identify the problem with the car. No one at Audi has diagnosed the June 2019 problem we experienced.
I have a 2009 Audi Q7 diesel bought from dealership March 2019 after it had been sold to the public once Audi did emissions recalls , after I bought this vehicle had issues with it 10 days after I bought it I took it back dealership wants to have nothing to do with helping me even though it still has an extended warranty for 4 years more from the manufacturer, I have a flashing glowplug and limp mode vehicle that when driving it and glow plug goes on while I am on the road vehicle slows down from going 65mph to approximately under 15mph in just seconds engine loses power and its a safety hazard while on the freeway . Audi dealer claims I have fuel contamination but when asked to prove to me this through fuel being sent to the lab they have no such lab results . They just claim I had this in order not to honor my warranty which is very fishy since I bought vehicle once they sold it out to the public after recall had been supposively fixed for emissions. I had fuel pumps replaced fuel pressure regulators and injectors as well all paid out of pocket vehicle still states code poo88 and code p0087 changed fuel filter also and now catalyc converter code is on also I feel they need to honor my warranty since fuel was never tested through a lab and its just by word of mouth that they claim I had contamination . Vehicle still being worked on but all costs out are out of my pocket eventhough my warranty booklet from the manufacturer states I should be covered for fuel rails, pumps, catalyc converte etc. .
High pressure fuel pump (hpfp) failed while driving. Car stopped instantly in traffic and would not start creating a very dangerous situation. Car has only 46,xxx miles and this is a common failure with tdi vw cars.
I was driving on the highway at 55-75 miles per hour. I saw an orange indicator light for the glow plug system appear, with no previous warning. I continued to drive for several minutes, but felt a loss of power. The accelerator when depressed did not respond with power. I was in the left lane of traffic which slowed down to a standstill, but when traffic picked up, my car stalled and stopped completely. I tried to restart the engine unsuccessfully. I was stuck in the left lane of traffic and blocking oncoming traffic at high speeds. It was very dangerous and I had two children in the car. I called 911 and the highway patrol had to stop all lanes of the traffic to push me to the highway shoulder. We called Audi care and even the police urged them to send a tow truck immediately, they gave me a 60-90 min window, which they then pushed up to 30 minutes, after already being on a call with them for 30 minutes. Ultimately, the police flagged down a aaa to send me a tow truck since I also had aaa. The Audi dealer said this was a known problem of the fuel pump going bad and sending metal shavings into the diesel fuel system, which they replaced completely under the Audi manufacturer's warranty with no charge to me, but it was a potentially fatal incident as it occurred on a high speed los angeles freeway with no warning.
Fuel line leak occurred during operation of the vehicle on 11/24/18. First a fuel smell was detected in the vehicle at a traffic light at washington rd and rt 1 (this smell was at first associated with a tanker truck refueling an adjacent service station), then on the highway engine knocking began to occur with a blinking check engine light when accelerating. Upon parking the vehicle, a pool of fuel was immediately detected below the engine block from fuel dripping off of the engine block. Upon opening the hood the engine block was covered with fuel - identified by touch and smell - additionally the insulation on the ceiling of the hood had a wet spot 1 ft sq darkened by saturation with fuel. Restarted the engine and noted fuel was spraying from the fuel pump towards the front of the vehcile and upwards towards the hood. The engine was immediately cut off and the vehicle was towed to an Audi dealership for repair.
Strong gasoline smell inside the passenger compartment and outside the car upon exiting. No leaks on ground. Suspect cracked fuel pump flange.

Hi, my car was found has bad gas smell back on Sep 27th, and we brought car to midas auto service to check it up. Later they called me the fuel pump is cracked and fuel is leaking which need be fixed ASAP to prevent fire risk. Then we ask them to do it. They finished the fix on same day and we paid $943. 38 . Later afternoon, we picked the car and went back home. We checked online to see if there is any recall for it. And found it has recall! so, we call the Audi recall service department at 1800-822-2834. The representative alaina told me to email requirement repair doc and payment doc to them to start the reimbursement process. I emailed to right way. After that, we didn't hear from them fro almost 2 weeks and we called them again on oct 13th. They told us that Audi declined our request and mailed us a letter on oct 12th which we didn't receive yet. The parts has problem and we don't know the recall before the gas pump is cracking. Audi should take responsibly for the repairing expense. We need your help!!! invoice and payment prove are attached for your reference. Thanks! lishan.

Strong fuel smell emitting from outside of vehicle and inside after running engine. Fuel pump located under 2nd row passenger seat spraying fuel through plastic cap which is cracked. 2009 re-2012 recall does not cover 2007-2008>???.
Fuel pump recall rubber band fix is inadequate. My model got repaired last year for the recall. This repair is inadequate and put my family's safety at risk. The gasoline melted the rubber band and leak. We started smelling gasoline inside our vehicle and while the vehicle is parked in our garage.

My Audi Q7 was conducted safety recall (NHTSA: 16v660) last 2017, but after recall the condition was same as previous. The condition was gas smell inside passenger cabin, and outside (in way of exhaust pipe. . ). When I drive couple of minutes, I felt headache and can't drive continued. I had visiting dealer shop located in spring in texas, and explanation my car condition, but they said that they can not do again due to already one year over. So, I've checked their reporting, but I couldn't located any changed any repair or changed parts (I. E. , seal, packing) for fuel pump system. Please see attached. I believe this is very important for my health due to very strong gas leak. Please consideration of my situation. Thank you so much.
There is a fissure crack in oil tank located under the engine also fuel pump leak which causes the electronic control board to mishap also the trunk electric doors smashed my head a few times I have take the car to only authorized Audi mechanics.
Car stalls and has died while driving; took to deal for repair they claimed bad fuel and emptied and cleaned tank. Same issue 2 months later and now car has been in shop for over a month they say could be bad fuel again (it's diesel, I have only bought fuel at bp since repair) or high pressure fuel pump. Car has $56k miles.
Vehicle has a very strong gasoline smell after the vehicle has been turned off. The odor is especially strong in a confined space such a garage. The source of the odor is near the driver side rear tire. Living in a very warm climate, I fear that a fire may be caused by the strong fumes coming from the vehicle. The dealer stated that they are aware of this concern and are 90% curtain that the source is the fuel pump. When asked if a safety recall has been issued for this concern, they stated that nothing has been reported.
The contact owns a 2010 Audi Q7. When the brake pedal was depressed and released, there was an abnormal odor of fuel inside the vehicle. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump cap needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
According to Audi atlanta the high pressure fuel pump (hpfp) exploded. This small but contained explosion was centered within the high pressure fuel pump itself but then sent small metal fragments thorough the fuel system from diesel fuel tank through the injectors. Due to this 10k+ in parts and 4k+ in labor was required to flush the system, replace almost all of the parts in order to repair the damage.
I have noticed a fuel smell in my garage and at first I thought it is my mower. The next day it has got stronger and I start getting nausia and headache. I took it to a repair shop and the showed me there is a fuel leak on the tank. They told me it could be the fuel pump. I do not believe it is the fuel pump. It leaks like there is a whole or some thing is broken inside the covered area of the tank where there is no visual access unless it is opened. I think it is a major issue that they have to fix before someone burns alive.
Lost acceleration, would not take any throttle input. Started to slow down, epc lite came on an started flashing. Speed continued to drop for the next 10 miles. Got off at the first exit that came up on the i5. As I came off the fwy I was down to 25 mph. At the first lite I had to stop, the engine quit, I then turned right it was down hill so the car glided with no power steering or brakes. Made it into a parking lot to a safe place to park. Car would not restart. Had it taken by flat bed to our Audi dealership 107 miles away. Dealer said that the high pressure fuel pump failed and contaminated the complete fuel system.
Tdi high pressure fuel pump failure while accelerating from red light. This resulted in loss of power steering, power brakes and steering wheel locked while pulling car over. Had car been traveling at high speed or less experienced driver it would have resulted in an accident.
This is a tdi version of the Q7. The high pressure fuel pump failed during normal use and sent metal parts through the fuel lines, through the fuel filter and into the combustion chambers. As a result, the engine ceased and we were left stranded in the middle of the road on a winding canyon road. The engine block was damaged; the crank shaft bent, the pistons damaged the heads and many other parts were destroyed. The car was repaired by an Audi dealer and required all new fuel components (bumper to bumper) and a new engine. The car was in the shop for over a month.
