Fuel sensor not working properly; while having gas, once tank meter reads 1/2, the engine shot-down, incorrectly telling that the tank is empty. Same issues with the cathalytic converter system. Engine's transmission wearing fast; pushing back and fort while accelerating.

Erratic shifting and sudden shifting to neutral with dsg gearbox, while driving. Dealer found faulty mechatronics unit. Similar complaints led to an investigation and recall in 2009 but unsure if our vehicle was covered(depends on production date).
I've experienced issues when trying to shift gears, most recently when putting the car in reverse from drive, the dashboard started flashing and it lost all power as if it were disengaged or in neutral. I took the car into a dealer as this is a safety issue and was told that there was a recall on this issue for my VIN ( campaign 09v333000), but that it had already been repaired prior to my ownership, which does not seem to be the case.

While driving on a city street in ann arbor michigan, the manual transmission shift lever snapped off. The lever detached at the base right above the spring assembly that allows the shifter to be moved into reverse. I was stuck in third gear and had to feather the clutch and keep the revs high in order to get through a traffic light and pull into a parking garage. The part required a complete replacement (completed myself).

While driving down the freeway the transmission shifted to neutral and the car would not go back into drive. Fortunately the traffic was not heavy at this time and I was able to pull off the road without an accident. The neutral problem now occurs quite often and I now have the car in for repair. The transmission is a dsg automatic transmission and after reviewing information on the internet there have been a lot of problems with this transmission in all model years and Audi has only had a recall on later year vehicles with this transmission. I am not sure why the recall would not cover all earlier vehicles with this transmission as this is a serious safety issue and is also an expensive repair as the temperature sensing unit and the mechatronic unit have to be replaced and these were the items covered in the later model year recall. Please let me know why all defective transmissions are not covered.

While driving on the freeway, the transmission suddenly went to neutral. With no power and at 70mph, I was forced into an unsafe maneuver, cutting drivers off in order to get onto the shoulder lane. I was towed to a nearby Audi dealership around 11:00pm. 3 business days later, they called me with the results; the mechatronics (transmission computer) was faulty and was estimated to cost $2800 for the repair. This issue with vw's dsg transmission is widespread as owners at various mileages have reported broken mechatronics units. My vehicle has 65k miles and replacing a transmission at that mileage is absurd.
The contact owns a 2004 Audi Tt1. 8 coupe. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the vehicle would jerk in between gears and stall. After the failure, the vehicle could not be shifted in or out of any gear. By turning the engine off and then restarting, the failure would correct itself but would recur after several minutes. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who advised the contact that they needed to replace the transmission. The manufacturer was notified of the failure who offered to buy the vehicle back but the contact refused. The failure mileage was 70,000.
The contact owns a 2003 Audi Tt. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle began to jerk forward. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostics. The technician stated that the transmission would have to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was unavailable. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000.

My Audi Tt (2002 model) with only 25k miles has had serious drive train failures. The first incident was when traveling at 60 mph my front left axle fell out of the drive system, and my car was thrown into a spin. I barely missed several other vehicles as well as a highway divider. I was told at the service center the axle never was pinned in place properly. The second and more recent incident involves the transmission. While driving in moderate traffic, as I shifted through the gears, nothing happened, and then finally when it felt like the car shifted into gear, the entire transmission froze up, and I almost was hit from the back . . . Once again the car was towed to the service center for more repair . . . Besides these issues, in the last 2 years I have had the car in for numerous other issues regarding the drive system also. This is just not a safe car.
