Wiring problems of the 2002 BMW 325

1 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2017

Tl- the contact owns a 2002 BMW 325i. The contact stated that wiring harness in the blower motor experienced a failure for the third time after repair. There were no warning lights illuminated at the time of the failure. The vehicle was not towed. The vehicle was taken to peter pan BMW service 1625 adrian rd, burlingame, CA 94010 650) 204-7600 where the technician informed that the wiring harness in the blower motor needed replacement. The vehicle was repaired but the failure occurred for a second time and was repaired independently. The manufacturer was not contacted directly. The failure mileage was 141,000. Akp.

2 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2011

The contact owns a 2002 BMW 325i. The contact was driving 40 mph when smoke was seen coming from under the instrument panel. The vehicle was merged to the shoulder where the small fire was extinguished. The fire department was not notified. The vehicle was then towed to a local mechanic who inspected the failure and advised the contact that the main wiring harness plug showed evidence of an electrical short, melting the batch of wires that connected the port to the main wiring harness under the hood. The contact's insurance company was notified of the failure who referred the contact to a local mechanic. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that there were no recalls for the failure and offered no further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 48,000.

3 Wiring problem

Failure Date: 07/09/2011

Tl-the contact owns a 2002 BMW 325i. The contact was driving 30 mph when he smelled a burning odor. The contact was advised by another driver that the exterior tail lights had failed. The contact then disconnected the wires for the tail lights. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated they have to replace the complete wiring harness at the owners expense of $1,300. The vehicle was then taken to a local mechanic who repaired the tail lights. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 130,000. Kmj.

4 Wiring problem

2002 BMW 325i rear taillights have failed on both sides due to the wiring on both sides of the harness have either melted and ground to the other wires or melted the tabs off of the male plug.

5 Wiring problem

2002 BMW 325 xi the warning light for a bulb-out or the fast blink for the turn signals comes on intermittently. Took to dealership and it's a known issue with the grounding of the tail lights. The wiring harness melts. Manufacturer refuses to fix outside warranty. Charge to repair - $450.
