My vehicle was parked in the driveway in front of my house and had not been driven for several days. I walked outside and noticed the engine fan was running so I opened the driver‘s door and noticed white smoke coming from the glove box compartment. I opened the glove box and noted a small fire which within a matter of approximately five minutes had turned into a full-blown fire throughout the vehicle I was able to call 911 and have a fire department here before my house caught on fire although it did damage the siding on the front of the house and the tail light and rear passenger fender area of the polaris razor.
Vehicle steering lock malfunction - car does not start and stuck in park. Cannot move steering wheel which is locked. This is a design defect that needs to be addressed. Vehicle is rendered inoperative! cannot move or start it! approx. Mileage 105k. This is a new problem besides the current recall which has not been available yet. I've also been locked out of this vehicle and had to climb out of the window, thank god it was not a fire or flood! I was able to fix that problem myself. Note: steering lock malfunction is a widespread problem! dealers want to replace the entire steering column in these cases at a very high cost. Thanks, john galvao.
I'm starting to lose gas mileage and a very strong smell of gas inside and outside of car .
Have had the car less than two months and I have been experiencing non-safe situations. The car just one day suddenly doesn't come out of park. It finally got out of park and when I try to drive and it reverses and make alot of noise and when I sometimes try to reverse. It drives. This is not safe. I've nearly gotten myself killed due to this faulty bad car. I tried to call for a trade or a refund and the company was rude to me. This car takes my girlfriend and I to work and this is the only care we have. It hasnt been a year and the car has so many issues down to car not reading gears, bad spark plugs , hole underneath, faulty airbags, windows not working, tire pressures unsafe and much more that no one would want to experience.
I have a recall on the heater devices, not quit sure what that is but it can cause my engine to overheat and catch fire. I've already replaced the coolant system because of over heating I'm very scared of driving the car. I would like to get it fixed a soon as possible, its nice car and I've put a lot of money in it already, trying to keep it on the road, its my work transportation.
I was sitting in class when a received a call that my car was on fire and the fire department was there to put it out. They opened my car with my keys and put out the fire as I rushed back to my house to meet the fire department. The damage is unknown at this point along with how it started. The car had not been driven for two days and was parked on the street outside of my house. The fire started under/in my engine and they luckily go there fast enough where the only visible damage was some melting within the engine. The car had not been giving me any problems prior except for going through oil a little faster than normal, but it is high mileage so that is not a huge concern.
I was trying to wait until a remember was available but I'm pregnant and now these issues have gotten worse and are more imperative my car is now smoking as I drive the power steering is now affected I just purchased a new battery and the battery light came on it stopped randomly in the middle of the street all issues which arent acceptable period but are worse given my current physical state.
I believe the seat sensor in my 2006 BMW 325i front passenger seat is faulty. The majority of the time, the light comes on that shows that my front passenger airbag is not on and also that the passenger is not buckled, whether they are buckled, or there isn't a passenger in that seat at all. Whether I am stationary or driving/moving at any speed, those warning lights are on, and will intermittently go off for short periods of time, then they come back on again. I am in a carpool so I frequently am the driver and I have someone in that front passenger seat. I am concerned that if in an accident, the airbag will not deploy causing injuries in the case of an accident. Newer models of the same car have this seat sensor on recall, so the 2006 should also be recalled.
Takata recall: I just received a notice today 28 Dec 17 that my vehicle needs to be recalled for the following issues the driver side air bag and the blower motor wiring system.
Doors get locked and can not be opened from inside. Once the doors are locked the driver side door can not be opened from inside or outside with remote key buttons. If you are inside the car only way to get out is break the window or lower the window and then get out. Exactly same thing happened to my friend in his Ford Lincoln when they were trapped inside after an accident ,car caught fire and he, his wife and 12 year old son were all burnt alive. We raised the other son who was not in that deadly car. This BMW 315i car is totally unsafe and the problem is known to them but there was no recall to fix this faulty, unsafe car. I noticed the problem when the car was parked in a parking lot. I had to take out the hard key from the remote unit and opened the driver side door but could not open other three doors from inside or from remote unit. Now the car is with BMW of fremont dealership in 44175 auto mall cir ,fremont, California 510-659-7902.
Blower motor recall, called BMW steven creek dealer, san jose, CA, no parts and no schedule to fix, called customerrelations@bmwusa. Com or at 1-800-525-7417. The answer is they don't know the schedule and no remedy to repair. BMW is very passive on this recall. Do not want to give the BMW owner a schedule when can they service the recall repair.
BMW issued a recall in oct 2017 for a potential fire hazard but in July 2018 still say they do not have a remedy available so I can not put my daughter in a vehicle that has a potential fire hazard and BMW has not offered a rental until the repair can be made.
Driver's airbag module recall replacement keeps getting postponed for a future date from BMW of henderson deal.
Front passenger side door lock malfunction. Will not unlock and unable to open the door. Rear driver side door lock malfunction will not unlock and unable to open the door. We have three children under 7 years old and this is very concerning. Our children will not be able to exit the car in case of an emergency through the rear driver side door. The malfunction was not a result of any damage done to the car and it happened while the vehicle was stationary.
The valve cover gasket keeps leaking oil. I have fixed this twice in the last 30k miles. Now it is leaking again. Valve cover gasket should not go bad every 10k to 15k miles. If neglected it will cause engine fire due to oil.
"takata recall " I was trying to get off my car and my doors wouldn't unlock even when I put pull the door handle all four of them wouldn't open my kids were in the car with me so I had to get out to the windows.
My 2006 BMW 325i leaks oil. The manufacturer bolts are defective and there are others with similar issues. I'm concerned my car my catch on fire due to the oil leaks. My car has shut off in the middle of the highway due to this and almost caused an accident. I have seen others with the same vehicle stopped in the middle of the highway as well.
Air bag lights on without crash also seat belt light on.
The fuses for the door locks blew for some reason which made the passenger front and rear doors inoperatible basically trapping passengers in the car. The doors would not unlock using the main door lock or pulling the door handle once to unlock and twice too open and exit the car.
The window regulator clip has broken and the window does not hold in specific places. The car continuously reminds you about the situation while driving at any speed. Have to use a board as temporary fix.
The thermostat and the water pump both went out without any warning. Car started overheating and warned with a yellow light, after which a red light came on after 10 seconds of the yellow light being on.
Vehicle is equiped with automatic folding rear view mirrors. While parked the vehicle's right view mirror folded itself in the most forward position. Now the driver (me) is inable to use the right view mirror. This is definitely a safety hazard. BMW is aware of this problem in many of their vehicles, but their own solution is to replace the entire mirror at the cost of the owner. This is a hefty $750. 00 charge not including installation. BMW should take ownership of this problem and fix the issue at no cost to the customer. This is an issue that requires immediat intervention to prevent an avoidable accident.
My 2006 BMW 325i has dashboard warning lights that continue to come up after much time & effort has been spent to get them fixed. The airbag warning light, the seat belt warning light, & the flat tire monitor warning light have caused much stress & frustration due to the issues not being addressed after multiple attempts with the dealership as well as other independent companies. I am worried that if an accident does occur that my safety will be in great danger & this is something that every car owner understands. I am at a loss at this point & do not want to continue to spend countless dollars when the ends do not justify the mean.
4/27/2015, 4:00 am the car is sitting within 6 feet of my house and my husband and I awoke to an explosion. The BMW was on fire from under the hood and burning out of control. The car has been parked inside our garage since 4/25/2015 and it was only moved about 100 feet on 4/27/15. This vehicle has had zero modifications or repairs. The BMW's motor and front end of the car is completely destroyed and the vehicle is totaled. Our home would have been destroyed had I not used 4 fire extinguishers and a water hose on the car and house until the fire department arrived. Online there are numerous BMW owners with this complaint either the vehicle was sitting and some people were even driving them when they caught fire. Obviously there is an issue with some of the BMW's that are causing fires and putting peoples lives at risk. This BMW was my husbands and wasn't fully insured and I have a BMW that I loved until this incident and I am extremely fearful of driving now. I believe this should be a major concern for all BMW drivers to have this investigated and someone held accountable for the issues the BMW's are having. I would really like to know the statistics for BMW's that have filed fire complaints.

Vehicle had a yellow steering wheel and lock display on the dash when I tried to start my car. After multiple attempt to start the car in every possibly way, it still did not start. Put key in, pulled it out multiple times; locked car, unlocked car; wiggled steering wheel while trying to start the car (push start). Noticed when key is pushed into key hole, it latches, but does not give any electrical power to the car, or release the steering wheel. Steering wheel was locked. Car has no power to other functions in car. Car can't be shifted into neutral to move car. The car is pretty much unusable.
Vehicle rolled on flat surface while in park.
Took my BMW to the dealership because my battery had to be replaced (due to service light on instrument panel) and was told after I picked up my vehicle it also had two other service problems: 1. Oil filter housing needed to be resealed a $400. 00 job and 2. Alternator tensioner needed to be replaced a $650. 00 job. I did not do the repair. Came home, got on internet and did research. There are many customers who are complaining about these repairs, and they also stated that they were told of these same two items to be serviced after having a new battery installed in their BMW's. Supposedly, BMW is aware of this problem but don't feel the need to recall. I feel that this should be investigated because it doesn't make since that all customers who have to replace their battery is being told to service the same items.
My son turned right from a complete stop at the stop sign. He accelerated to the appropriate speed prior to the upcoming turn (25mph) he then let off the gas going into the turn to coast before braking. The car continued to accelerate up to 40-45 mph due to floor mat entrapment because there is no floor mat retention system. He was losing control of the car as he tried to move the floor mat away from the gas pedal. He then slid off the road while continuing to brake, overcorrected and went off the other side as well. All the while he was trying to stop the car.
Passenger sat in passenger seat and airbag light went off. Was told by dealer it was because of a bad sensor mat for my make and model but not my car specific.
Key fob failure.
Constant oil leakage under vehicle, no matter how many time I tried fixing and repairing it.
Windshield molding disintegrating into pieces , defective material - can cause the windshield to break or come loose.
Car only has 63,000 miles. The aluminum bolts for the valve cover and the head bolts sheared off while driving. Stopped at a red light and car starts to shake, check engine sign lights, oil sign lights, once I gave it gas. Oil is leaking from car. Car is towed and mechanic shows me damage. Broken aluminum bolts fell inside of engine. Bolt is wedged between timing chain and gear. The engine is destroyed. Known defect for 2006 models, but BMW north America will not cover damage. Have called BMW north America three times now. BMW switched bolt type in following years. Others reporting same problem. Safety hazard. What if I was on a busy highway when my car stopped? car will never be the same. BMW needs to admit to their mistake and cover the damages. A recall should be put in place for the bolts. Just ridiculous that a company known for quality will do this to their customers. I hope the dot takes it upon themselves to hold BMW accountable. Others with the same problem, please email me at [xxx]. Looking for a potential resolution. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Front passenger occupancy seat sensor mat/pad failure. Initial inquire with dealer resulted in no coverage of repairs due to VIN break. As of December 25, 2013 NHTSA shows that all effected BMW 325xi 2006 will be repaired at no cost to owner. Nhtsa campaign #: 13v-564.
