2 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2005 BMW 325

Failure Date: 02/04/2008

Each time I have had this problem the car has been parked for at least 6 hours. The car starts but does not engage in reverse. The car will roll back due to a slope of surface but when shifted to drive it only rolls forward but doesn't engage. I continue to push on the gas pedal and it finally "lurches" forward. This has happened 7 times randomly over the period of one year. The BMW service department has checked it twice and kept it a week last month. They told me that they had never heard of this problem before and they couldn't replicate it so they couldn't fix it. I am afraid this problem will put me or others in danger if I can't move forward or reverse.

3 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2003 BMW 325

Failure Date: 06/01/2004

Vehicle's transmission is not engaging when starting from a stationary position. The engine would rev up to 3-4000, but the vehicle would creep, lurch forward and speed up normally. This would usually occur when the vehicle sat overnight. The problem also occurred when backing up.

4 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2004 BMW 325

Failure Date: 03/01/2004

The BMW 325xit (automatic transmission) which I purchased on 2/5/2004 developed a problem with forward gear not engaging on a cold start. The vehicle had less than 1000 miles on it when I first noticed the problem. Typically on a morning when I back the car out of the garage, and then shift the gears from reverse to drive, the vehicle fails to move forward for 3 to 4 seconds upon releasing the brake. I would have to press down on the gas pedal and watch the engine revv to anywhere between 3-5k rpm before the gear would engage. The vehicle creeps forward until the gear fully engages. The problem has no far been rather consistent - it happens quite predictably every morning. I have not however noticed a problem with gear engagement once the car is able to start.

5 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2004 BMW 325

Failure Date: 11/20/2003

Cold morning start the vehicle revs to 2 -3k rpms with little or no forward motion. Drive is not engaging. Pulling out in traffic was terrifying. Dealer offered several reasons: 1) needed to be broken in 2) needs a software upgrade 3) needs a clutch pack part and finally 4) needs a new transmission.

6 Transmission Not Engage problem of the 2003 BMW 325

Failure Date: 11/02/2003

2003 bought brand new. Automatic transmission does not engage in the mornings. After parking car in garage overnight, the car is put went into reverse and backed out without stepping on the gas (driveway is sloped). After shifting into drive, the car lags anywhere from 3 to 10 seconds before there is any power to drive. This is specially dangerous when there is traffic.
