Check Engine Light On problems of the 2008 BMW 328

1 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/04/2020

While driving and vehicle in motion even during acceleration, with no warnings vehicle just stalls. Engine shuts off and loss of power steering. Power to rest of vehicle still works fine and not interrupted. This has happened on city streets but luckily was able to muscle off the street into safety as car still glided. Unknown to components causing issue as check engine light goes off after being able to restart vehicle. Had vehicle scanned and nothing comes up. All recalls have been performed according to BMW website.

2 Check Engine Light On problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2015

The contact owns a 2008 BMW 328i. While parked, the vehicle failed to start and the battery and check engine warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the battery and the positive connection cable needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. In addition, while driving at 35 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The engine warning light illuminated and engine malfunction was displayed across the message board. The vehicle was towed to another independent mechanic who diagnosed that the valve coil, the spark plugs, and the valve gasket covers needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The contact was aware of NHTSA campaign number: 13v044000 (electrical system); however, the VIN was not included. The failure mileage was 73,025. The VIN was unavailable.
