Side/window Air Bag problems of the 2006 BMW 330

14 problems related to side/window air bag have been reported for the 2006 BMW 330. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2016

Takata recall. Concerning NHTSA recall number 15v318. Vehicle BMW 330ci 2006 driver's front air bag. On June 17, 2015 I took my vehicle in to the BMW dealership, jackie cooper BMW in edmond, ok, phone number (405) 755-3600 and they replaced the passenger side air bag pursuant to BMW recall campaign number 14v-428. However, at that time they said "we don't have the driver's side front air bag. As of August 2, 2016, this dealership (a BMW dealership) is still telling me "we don't have the driver's front air bag and don't know when we can get it. Sorry. " they are offering no further explanation or referral to another source to get this air bag replaced. I have uploaded a copy of my registration.

2 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2016

Drivers side seat belt buckle/tensioner failed and would not hold onto seatbelt. This caused the seatbelt alarm to sound as well as deactivate the drivers side airbag.

3 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/03/2015

My passenger side air bag sensor mat has failed. This is the second time this has happened on this vehicle. Other models of the 2006 BMW 3 series are included in a passenger air bag sensor recall. I feel my vehicle has been wrongly left out of the recall.

4 Side/window Air Bag problem

The contact owns a 2006 BMW 330xi. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the passenger side air bag sensor light illuminated, indicating that the passenger side air bag system was faulty. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 13v564000 (air bags). The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 101,000.

5 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/24/2014

The contact owns a 2006 BMW 330i. The contact stated that the air bag sensor illuminated on the front driver and passenger side. The sensor on the driver side remained illuminated for an air bag malfunction error and the front passenger side air bag sensor indicated that the air bag was off. The dealer stated that the passenger seat sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v428000 (air bags), NHTSA campaign number: 14v348000 (air bags), and NHTSA campaign number: 13v564000 (air bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 109,000.

6 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2013

Passenger side air bag error consistent with front passenger seat pressure mat recall notice. BMW online recall check revealed that this vehicle identification number was not included in the recall.

7 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2013

Vehicle airbag warning and passenger seatbelt warning lamp are displayed simulataneously with passenger "airbag off" lamp illuminated. As a result, front passenger side airbag is disabled in case of a crash. BMW has issued a partial recall on other models (NHTSA campaign 13v-564) citing a defect with regards to the seat occupancy sensor mat but will not honor a recall on this particular vehicle, which is clearly affected by the issue. Without repair a crash may very well result in undue physical harm to a passenger.

Passenger side air bag error consistent with front passenger seat pressure mat recall notice. BMW online recall check revealed that this vehicle identification number was not included in the recall.

2006 BMW 330xi. Consumer writes in regards to passenger side air bag error consistent with front passenger seat pressure mat recall notice. BMW informed the consumer, his vehicle identification number was not included in the recall.

The contact owns a 2006 BMW 330i. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag warning lamp illuminated with the passenger seat occupied. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. The failure mileage was 110,000 and the current mileage was 115,000.

13 Side/window Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/13/2011

Passenger seat occupancy recognition sensor is faulty (error code 93c3), preventing the passenger side airbag from deploying in the event of a crash. BMW has refused to repair this item at their expense despite the fact that that the same(or similar) part has been recalled for other 2006 3 series vehicles.

I own a 2006 BMW 330i 6cylinder engine. My car has 68k miles and has developed a problem iwth the passenger side air bag sensor causing a malfunction. Although this vehicle has been listed as having this problem, BMW denies my particular VIN was included in the recall and wants to make me responsible. There are tons of 2006 BMW 330i owners with the same issue listed on this site who's safety is in jeopardy. Please make BMW responsible to make our cars safe.
