Body Problems of BMW 335

On Sunday, 6/18/2023, a little after 9pm, I was stopped at a traffic light outside the shell station at 600 s michigan st, seattle, wa. Whilst waiting for the traffic light to turn green, the sunroof exploded from the inside out! (traffic camera should confirm the sudden hole in my sunroof) it was an extremely loud bang and initially I thought someone threw a large rock at my cars' window. However, I didn't see anyone on the street. My second thought was that I was being shot at - and quickly made the right turn onto 6th Ave. S. I then got out because I was confused that I could hear glass pieces. Once I got out of the car I could see that the sunroof had exploded outward! thankfully I had the shade above my head closed, otherwise I would have been showered in extremely sharp glass bits. Weather: it was in between rain showers. The road was dry. The temperature was normal cool weather; maybe 65f. It was overcast. Warning indicators: there were no warning indications prior to the explosion. The car was running great. Service of the car was up-to-date! other info: I had the car serviced January 4th ~ 5th; everything that BMW suggested, I agreed to! to the tune of over $5000! safety: just a moment before the sunroof exploded, I was travelling on i5 - had it happened on the freeway, the sunroof might have been pulled out into traffic behind me. It would have caused a serious accident, especially if a motorbike was behind me. Thankfully I was stopped and other drivers were not affected.

Driver passenger door would not open when the car is locked from inside. Typically the driver can double pull the door handle which unlocks the car. When attempting to unlock, the pin goes up but comes back down. There are several documented complaints on BMW forums with many owners experiencing this safety issue. If a driver gets into an accident or if the battery dies, the door may fail to open at critical moments. A recall is needed for this safety defect.

I was in an accident yesterday at my job pulling into a parking space foot on brake pedal, when my car accelerated into a parked truck. I am still in disabled this happened. I know I did not bit the gas by mistake as that I wasn't using the gas pedal I was pulling in the space using the brake I drive with my right foot only and can't push two pedals at once. I turned the car off immediately and then started it again and backed off the truck . I've parked in parking spaces for years and never experienced anything like this before .

Driver and passenger door lock intermittently fails to open after being driven by pulling on the door handle twice. Only remedy is to use the central locking/unlocking switch on the dash to open the door.

Passengers door failed to open. Has a two pull mechanism, first pull of the handle unlocks the door and second pull opens the door. Door would not open on second pull from the inside or outside. My wife was essentially stuck in the car. This is a severe safety issue in the event of an accident or other. This needs to be fixed by BMW permanently because many other people have reported this issue and have had the mechanism replaced only to have it happen again less than a year later. All this happening on cars less than 4 years old and less than 30k miles. I have never had a door lock issue on any car until now.

Tl-the contact owns a 2007 BMW 335i. While drive 50-55 mph, the contact stated that they attempted to merge into the right lane. However, another vehicle drove up really fast. The contact swerved out of the way of the on coming vehicle. In result of this the contact crashed into a parked vehicle. The contact was not distracted. The air bags did not deploy. The contact did sustain injuries to their back, neck and head. The contact did receive medical attention. No other parties were involved in the crash. No other medical attention was needed. A police report was made. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not totaled. The vehicle was towed to the contacts home. They don't know how the vehicle would be repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The crash was not in relation to any recall. The failure mileage was 125,000. Jw.

I was traveling down the road today in my 2011 335i xdrive and my sunroof exploded! no rock hit me, it was like a shotgun went off inside my car, I'm retired military, a veterans of all the wars/conflicts from 89-2009 had mortars flying over my head and patriot batterys taking out scuds overhead. It's a good thing I don't have ptsd, because I could have caused a huge accident at 70 mph on the interstate! glass pieces everywhere, in my lap, mouth and in the car. There are two parallel lines of missing glass, I have taped all of it so it doesn't fall down. I called BMW if murray utah, they said they never heard of this and my warranty is past they said no recall is out for this.

Car caught fire parked in the driveway. Battery charger was connected. Unknown cause of what started the fire. Car had approximately 152,000 miles. Association to recall 17v676000.

Blower motor recall. My BMW caught on fire on 5/17/2018. I believe it may be related to the current recall concerning engine fires in several model lines. It was parked in my driveway. Had been turned off for over 1 1/2 hours. Damage was primarily isolated to the front and rear. Fire department was called and arrived within 3 minutes to extinguish the fire. Comments made by arson investigators were odd burn patterns. First thought was electrical related fire. They had to call back fire fighters due to worry the battery would reignite.

This car has been totaled out by my insurance company due to the frame being waped radiator busted suspension warped electrical issues with the blower motor this was the 1st first of my 4 Bmws to leave me owing money on a vehicle that isn't drivable location and issue unknown.

On November 18, 2016, at approximately 7:45 am, I was driving on seward highway towards west International airport road in anchorage, alaska and all of a sudden my sunroof exploded and glass shards fell above my head and all over the interior of my car. I called BMW corporate for a resolution but they initially denied my claim saying it must have been hit with a rock and I should be calling my car insurance instead. I contacted BMW corporate for the second time. They were able to escalate my issue and offered me a "goodwill" offer to replace all parts involved free of charge on my issue, but not labor. Labor charge is approximately $900 and they require it to be done at the dealership. It is absurd! I'm not paying for a damage which I'm not responsible. It seems like they are not considering this as a big problem and rather denying defects on their sunroofs. I was furious and exclaimed that it is a safety issue and I could have been injured, could have been killed, or worse, could have killed someone else. With their "goodwill" offer and the absurd labor charge, I don't think I could get this issue resolved without the help of NHTSA to press BMW to do further investigation. This issue has to be fixed ASAP before someone gets killed.

Feb 05,2016 manufacturer recall numberna NHTSA recall number16v071 recall status: recall incomplete driver's front air bag: during air bag deployment in an accident, the driver's front air bag module may produce excessive internal pressure that could cause the inflator to rupture. Even though recall begun a year and half ago, we still have not received our final notification letter yet from BMW. Everyday driving this vehicle, driver is at risk.

2007 BMW e92 335i - just took off from my home (car was not turned on since the day before atleast not after 8pm) 10 minutes into the road I turned on my a/c blower on max. On about 2 or 3 minutes, suddently it slowed down and stopped working followed by plastic burning smell. As I tried to pull over as soon as possible, smoke started coming out the dashboard and just like that the car caught fire on the glove compartment and so on. . . I stranger from an tire shop ran up and used an extinguisher to stop the fire. Saddly there was severe damage to glove comparmtnets, dashboard, electrical components like fuse box, passenger door, front and top interior. Plus some money I had stored in the (was my way to the bank to make a deposit and pickup my fiancee) im still waiting for my insurance descision. Im very worried since ive search around in forums and I've read about some other people having same problems and other electrical fires with no response/resolution from BMW. I've owned a Mini cooper and 2 Bmws. My cousing, aunt, granpa (e30) have Bmws. Any suggestions?.

I was driving on I-405n at around 70 mph, the pace of the very light traffic that night, and there were no other cars within 100 yards in front of me. There were no overpasses or pedestrians anywhere nearby. All of a sudden, my sunroof spontaneously shattered! a large piece of it broke off and then was blown backwards, bouncing off my roof and trunk, scratching the paint. The person driving behind me drove over the sunroof and shards of glass. Luckily, I had my sunroof sunshade closed which prevented the shards of glass from showering on me when the sunroof exploded.

The rubber seal around the frond windshield cracks and falls/flies off. I have had this happen on 2 different (2006, and 2010 with only 17000 miles) BMW 3 series. I have spoken to BMW and was told this is not a warranty item. Please look into this. It could a defective part that could cause great risk. Thanks.

Oil pump pressure went out on 36,000 miles after a recall was done on my car by BMW on may 2013. The recall was changing the electrical battery cables. Right after the recall was performed in my car I had this error on my computer: "engine oil pressure too low. Possible engine damages, switch off engine. Continued driving is not possible. Please contact the nearest bme center" right after the recall was made my engine start loosing power. I called and complain BMW of na and they denied my complains. I really believe this oil pump should be a recall since I got 2 recalls already on my car. First recall was the fuel pump now the oil pump. How many things will have to break in this 2010 335xi until they will recognize it as a lemon car? I believe that my oil pump was going out because of the recall that they had on the electrical battery cables.

One of the electric door lock actuators failed and caused a fuse to blow. When this occurred the driver door could only be unlocked with the metal key and not by the electronic lock remote. What was so dangerous is that none of the other 3 passenger doors could be opened either from outside or even from the inside with the door handle. Essentially all the passengers were trapped in the car and had to climb out through the driver door which could be opened from the inside with the door handle. Had there been an accident or fire or other emergency it could have taken too long to exit the vehicle. The 3 passenger doors did not begin working until the fuse and door lock actuator was replaced at a cost of nearly $700. BMW is aware of this problem. Si b51 19 07 factory service bulletin.

When the power door lock fuse is blown, passenger cannot exit or enter the car manually. You can't open the door using the inside or outside door handle. The car would lock you in. Only the driver side door can be open using the inside door handle. I have to let the passengers in my car climb over the driver seat to get out. This is a serious problem because if the driver door is jamb or block for any reason then you cannot open any other door to get out. It gets worse since BMW put an under power fuse for the door lock which cause the fuse to blown often.

I have a 2008 BMW 335i (e90) that lost both headlight washer covers while traveling on the highway. These parts struck the windshield with great force and likely hit the vehicles traveling behind my car. These parts likely littered the roadway with debris that could cause other vehicles to swerve to avoid running over them. This is a common problem/defect with newer BMW vehicle (see Bmwland and e90post websites for customer complaints).
