Wiring Problems of BMW 335

Recall 17v-676: blower motor wiring was preformed several years ago. Today the wiring connection added during the recall work failed and the blower motor stopped working.

The vehicle's wiring harness within the headlight housing are exposed, it no longer has the rubber coating that surrounds the wires. I afraid this could cause a short circuit or fire!.

Went to replace an obviously burned out brand new xenon hid ballast. Confused about why it burned up(failure rate of 1 per 1,000 quoted by the manufacturer) I took off the back cover for the housing. To my surprise, the power cable's that plugs into the hid ballast insulation was completely gone. Bare. Wires. This is obviously an extreme fire and safety hazard. Curious if my other headlight wiring was the same way, I popped the back housing of it to inspect for another hazard. Lord and behold, it was exactly the same way. Not just the power supply insulation on the wires for the ballast was chipping, all of it was chipping. The drl, angel eye and turn maker wiring insulation was all. . Gone. Someone had recently discovered this issue beforehand as there was electrical tape & solder on some of the wires keeping them together. ---------------------------- this is a fire hazard! ----------------------------.

The wiring harness for the headlights tends to rot overtime in these cars which then leads to bare copper wires making contact with each other and ends up causing a short and blowing the bulb. This is a safety hazard, not only for visibility but for fire prevention as well. This is a common issue in a lot of BMW's and it should be addressed. This isn't something that should have to be replaced and it is very challenging to do so. I took a look at this as my headlight bulb blew last week while on the road. Like I had mentioned earlier, this is pretty common and is even occurring in their newer models. The insulation over the wiring just flakes off and the dealerships show no care when the issue is brought up.

Blower motor wiring caught fire and spread throughout remainder of car. Initially saw smoke coming from vents while vehicle was coming to a stop in a staples parking lot. Fire spread into engine and interior of car, burning my hand and bringing car to a total loss. Existing recall number: 17v-676.

After almost a year, BMW is still not ready to �remedy� and provide a fix for safety recall 17v-676 (blower motor wiring).

I was stopped at a traffic light when smoke began arising from my right front wheel and was followed by flames. . . I had had my car in for ac malfunctioning earlier in the the summer and asked about the recall relative to motor blower wiring. . They said at BMW not the problem and no fix yet available . . My car was totally destroyed. . . I have video footage.

For the airbag recall, I have constantly been told by midtown (houston) BMW that the replacements are unavailable. This has bee for two years now. 2 - on the new recall, the wiring recall, I have yet to be contacted by BMW or my local midtown BMW dealership.

October 25, 2017 | recall campaign no. 17v-676 blower motor wiring to date there is still no remedy for this recall issued 5 months ago. I'm not sure what constitutes a 'reasonable period of time' for a recall like this but it seems like it has been a while, especially for a recall that could potentially cause a fire. .

My 2011 BMW 335d sedan has a recall on the blower motor wiring harness that could catch fire anytime, even when the car is parked and off. I have been unable to drive my car for over 2 months at this point, (while still making my high car payment) and parts are still not available, and no idea when they will be. Do I have any recourse for my loss? BMW north America says no, they are providing an enterprise rental car which is all they can do.

The above VIN is only one of several BMW's sold last month without the dealer repairing the NHTSA BMW us blower motor wiring harness recall. Wiring harness recall warning was 10 months ago. Dealership says no part is in yet. Every nite I wonder if my car will catch fire n my garage. They need to fix or give a loaner or something to get this taken care of. This is the 3rd attempt to get a response from you guys who aren't mush better it would seem. Get something done soon, please.

Blower motor wiring: this recall involves the wiring for the system, known as the blower-motor, that controls air flow for the heating and air conditioning system. Over time, the connection between the wiring and this system could deteriorate and, in rare cases, could lead to overheating. The blower system also leaks some type of oil which my mechanic indicated could also lead to a fire with the blowing motor wiring short circuiting. A few months back the heating/air conditioning system suddenly stopped functioning, it sent a strong smell of plastic and rubber burning throughout the vehicle interior. Also I have not received any letter regarding the recent recall from BMW, which my vehicle is also listed under that recall. Haven't I done any research on this I would still be driving my car around putting my life and family's lives at risk.

Strong smell of burning electric wiring while driving. Turn off ac. Afterwards ac stopped working. Upon inspection, ac blower motor had burned wiring to the point that it was broken. Had to get blower motor and connector replaced. No visible smoke or flames. Strong smell of plastic/electronics burning when it happened. Wiring damage pretty bad. Vehicle was in motion in city street when it happened smell continued for several minutes even with windows open.

Head light wiring sheathing is deteriorating , it is flaking off causing wires to touch, it has caused an electrical short and fried my lighting ballast and blown headlight bulb.
