Equipment Problems of BMW 528 - part 2

Last week I was on the NJ turnpike when all of a sudden my car stall and lost power, I barley got off the turnpike when the car came to a completely stop. No warning messages or noises just stopped. Fortunately no accident occurred due to this but could have been an ugly one. The car would not start and was towed to the BMW dealer. The car was inspected, oil was clean, no water damage, however they tell me I need a new engine (13k) has the engine seized without telling me what caused it. The car has 83k miles. I've been a BMW owner for 19 years. I now have mixed feelings about BMW and the way I feel now I will nevery buy another BMW as I'm not getting the attention I thin I deserve. Any advice is greatly appreicated!.

While I was driving on the highway I heard a loud bang and had glass rain down on me from my just exploded sunroof. I thought it might be from a rock being ejected from the truck in front of me but I followed the truck until they stopped and their load was empty.

Doors are getting lockdown sporadically even after your car is at complete stop and parked, unless you press the central unlock switch in the panel you are locked down in the car, it took 15mins for me to figure out how to unlock the doors and come out. If this is an emergency situation then I would have been dead by now. There are 1000s of people posted online with this problem, I am surprised there is no recall from BMW on this. My name is tomas j. Peribonio, I am living in buford - georgia, USA. On Thursday, April 12, 2018, at 17:00 p. M. , 75� f average temperature of the environment, I was driving my 2015 BMW car, model 528i sedan, VIN: wba5a5c5xfd519160, on I-75 in the state of georgia, USA. The speed of travel was around 70 miles per hour and I was 200 miles south of atlanta. At that time, 17:00 p. M. , I felt a very loud noise on the roof of the car and then a flurry of strange elements that hit the roof and back of the car. When I parked, I noticed that it was the sunroof of the car that, for no apparent reason, exploded into millions of pieces. When I was driving, there was no one in front nor the side, so I rule out that a stone hit. The next day I took it to the dealer where I bought the vehicle, they are checking it for repair. They gave me a replacement car until the repair is ready. In addition to the fright and high risk that I had on the highway, I am fine, but very worried that this will happen again. I travel normally every 60 days approximately 1,000 miles and I do not want to go through this high risk to my integrity, companions and cars nearby. Glasses scratched the paint on the back of the roof and the trunk. I hope you can assure me that this will not happen again in the car. I was very lucky to be driving with the inside window of the roof closed, otherwise I would be telling a very serious tragedy. The car is currently in the service department of BMW of gwinnett place, 3264 commerce Ave. Duluth, GA 30096, waiting to be repaired and to inform me about what happened.

I own a 2012 BMW 528i (oct 2011). While driving various speeds, the engine suddenly stalled and became inoperable. The failure occurred while driving on the freeway. The vehicle was taken to an BMW where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump module was faulty and needed to be replaced. I was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v746000 (fuel system), although the vehicle experienced the same failure listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 63000. This is illegal and unfair.

Recall campaign no. : 17v683: pcv valve heater on January 22, 2018, while traveling westbound on the 10 freeway, my vehicle began to smell of burning plastic. I pulled over, turned my car off, got out of the vehicle to find out what it was. I opened the hood and observed smoke coming from the engine compartment which turned into fire burning the entire front end into the seating area of the car. The pcv valve heater melted causing the fire. The fire department was called who put the fire out and the vehicle was towed to the tow yard. Recall notice was received from BMW, however, no instruction provided on how to file a complaint on this loss. Was informed "remedy unavailable".

The driver's side door handle and/or actuator fails and does not open from the inside without pressing the electric button on the dash to unlock all doors. Upon pulling the inside door handle, the door lock pin slowly moves up and then recedes back down into the lock position when releasing the handle. In an emergency where an occupant would need to exit the vehicle quickly, or where the electronics have failed in the car, this could present a significant safety hazard, ultimately trapping an occupant in the vehicle.

Found recall info online. Told recall notice would be sent in December. No notice as of yet! don't want to die because of BMW's negligence!.

In December, 2017, BMW sent a recall notice, retail campaign no. 17v-683: pcv valve heater. When will BMW fix this issue, which could lead to a fire in the vehicle.

My car is shutting off while doing 55 mph on the highway.

Vehicle engine died on the highway while moving in 55mph traffic. Could not get the vehicle into neutral to move it to a safe location. Almost hit by several vehicles. Very very very dangerous! the tow operator could not get the vehicle into neutral to tow it.

At 2:30am on 4/29/17 Saturday morning, we heard a loud bang while driving 70mph on the interstate. . . Turns out that the sunroof exploded out of no where. . . Glass was all over us. . . Very scary situation.

This car does have systems issues involving fuel pressure under hwy speeds and during hard acceleration. There is a orange warning light that comes on intermittently why the car is trying to pull vacuume and get up to proper speeds. There have been several recalls but not all models are involved. I would suggest replacing the o rings and or injectors as preventable measure and for better fuel economy. If the dealer can't help you then reach out to the area rep in your sales city.

The driver door sometimes will not unlock and I have to puch the main button on the dash board to unlock the door. The door sometimes will not close because the lock mechanism does not unlock after I get out of the car. I have to push the main unlock mechanism on the dash. This happens when I park the car and get out of the car to close the door. Only the driver's side door does this. If I were in an accident and could not reach the button on the dash I would not be able to get out of the car. I wonder if this is covered under a warranty as a safety issue. This started happening last winter in December. It has continued ever since but not every day. Cold, hot and medium weather. I am taking the car in for service to see if it can be fixed.

My BMW caught on fire while turned off and parked in my garage. The fire spread to another car as well as our house. The fire started about 45 minutes after it was parked.

On September 22, 2016. My 2015 BMW 528i vehicle had a drivetrain malfunction. The car died on the 95northbound and I was in the speedlane in motion going over 70 miles an hour and the car when into a dead stop and almost caused over a 30 car pileup. I was almost killed! this car is 1 years old and should have not happened. I do not feel safe in this vehicle and cannot get back in it. BMW is insisting that it is safe and they fixed the problem. I cannot put my families life's or my life in jeopardy. BMW is insisting that they fixed it and will not switch out this car for a different model. I do not want to keep this car I am in a lease with them and they will not do anything to switch out this car to a different model or vehicle type to ensure my safety. I have also researched and read online that BMW has had several incidents with the engine stopping for no reason and now my car did the same. This car was also serviced with the BMW dealership 5days prior to the incident. Can you please assist me? I am putting my life in danger as well as the other drivers on the road. Thank you so much in advance for your assistance to this matter.

As of sept 2016 all BMW connect drive features have been disabled by BMW of n America. This means if you hit your sos button it may call a local 911 line ??? there is no way to send information to car you cannot locate your car remotely driver is unable to send location of car to anyone and BMW has no upgrade for a 2011 BMW 528i.

While driving down the street at 40 mph I heard a loud explosion type sound. I pulled over after making sure it was safe and noticed my sunroof glass had shattered into a million pieces. It looked as if it had exploded from within the car outwards. I contacted the dealer and BMW of America and both said that it was not recalled and they had not heard of any incidents such as that. BMW of America suggested I take my car into the dealer and have them examine it at my expense.

We bought a 2011 BMW 528i while it was under warranty. We started to have issues right after that. Pulling right, electronics freezing, can not unlock the doors with key fob, can not get out from car because door handles do not work time to time and our 2 year old son got locked inside(car locked by it self) and we had to break the window which took almost 30 minutes. BMW said they could not find any problem and went even further some of the issues are features of the car. Our kids getting locked in the car is a serious issue, can not getting from the car is another serious issue. What if car catches a fire in an accident and we get stuck in the car. Please take a look at it. I do have video recordings in multipliable occasions. Even BMW service took the car for the same issues and confirm it was an issue. But could not provide any solution. If something happens to someone because of the issues, it will be on you guys if you do not take action in the issue.

My BMW 528i 2012 I bought used in April 2015. In November 2015 my check engine light came on. Then it went away , but a week later it came on and another light saying the coolant was low. I took it to be topped off that did not work. My car went from yellow zone to red severe when driving home with my kids on a busy street. My car begin to overheat . I took it home immediately . The car loss all power it would not drive faster than 25 mph . I knew what ever it was going to be costly. My car sat for a month until I thought I had enough money to fix. Low and behold I took it to a BMW dealership there have been one campaign for thermostat and one recall on the oil filter housing. There has seem to be an issue I was unaware about. The dealer is saying because of the coolant mixing with oil and the car overheating there is possible engine damage. 20k worth of damages . I hoping BMW helps because my car is at the dealer still because of this horrible malfunction. I have attached a thread I found online that BMW sent out to all the consumers in July 2015 that I was not made aware of.

Car gas haven't been as usual took car for oil chang rotation of tires. Discovered gas leakage. Looking at possible fuel line or pump.

When driving on freeway, with a loud noise, the sun roof shattered into pieces. The weather out was little warm but not hot (the outside temperature will be around 90 f). I am driving the vehicle from mountain view and have been driving for almost 45 mins with my a/c on. I didnt notice any pebble or object hitting the car. I pulled to the shoulder and did a visual inspection and found absolutely nothing hit the car/wind shield/or body. The sunroof just shattered. . I took the car to the dealership and they denied anything wrong with sun roof.

Hello I'm reporting in regards to an issue with my vehicle. For approximately the past month I have an issue with a gasoline smell coming from my vehicle. I first thought I was over filling so changed the amount of gas I put in the vehicle. That still didn't stop the smell from coming back. So I decided to schedule my vehicle for an appointment. As a result the service advisor stated they smelled it but was not able to find a leak. I drove home without a strong smell but by the time I arrived to the destination it was evident again. I contacted a few other BMW authorized dealers and talked with service advisors and they said they never heard of such issue/concern. At one dealership the advisor hung up on me while I was explaining it. I read a few articles where other BMW owners experienced the same issue, some who cars caught on fire. This made me believe there is a defect that causes this issue. So I contacted BMW of north America and was told by joey there is nothing they could do. I explained to him that I can't keep paying diagnostic fees for them to determine nothing is wrong. I had it escalated and was told by kayla that I need to take it to a dealership. Never was I offered to have it checked for free. I understand I'm out of warranty but to be responsible for paying for diagnostic procedures without being told an issue exists is robbery. I just want my car concern resolved before anyone is injured or harmed as a result of the issue.

Engine shut off while driving from upland CA in route to las vegas nv using highway i15 frwy. Time was around 700 am the temp outside was apprx 12 degrees.

Day after raining, passenger side floor mat getting wet. We also found water leaking from out side to passenger side floor. We complained to dealer and maker for several times. They are not fixing vehicle. When they said found problem and fixed, it has same problem over and over.

There is hesitation or delay with this vehicle upon initial acceleration and when it finally does accelerate it almost gives you whip lash. This is dangerous because you are at intersection and unable to proceed through it initially and then you accelerate at a significant rate. It is so frustrating. And I do not feel safe driving this car. I hope I do not get a neck injury from taking off so suddenly and I pray that when I do accelerate, it is not into the vehicle in front of me.

On 9-2-14 surround 11:30 am ac unit stopped working, compressor on the ac unit is in function, however the ac fan is not blowing air, there is no malfunction on fuses or relays, there's might be an indication of the fsu or final stage unit as other people are having the same issue with this part.

My 2008 528i has a delay in acceleration when making a turn into traffic. The car will start to shake and jerk as I lightly apply the gas pedal. The enigine light has come twice during an acoourence and then went out as I continued to drive. Just had the car at the dealership and they found no faults with the car or any codes. I find it to be a safety hazzard because as I stated before, I'm in traffic and as I turn left/right, im unable to move while the traffic behind me is apporaching.

This 2012 BMW 528, while standing still on a city street, was struck from behind on the left rear corner and the active headrest restraint system was activated striking the driver in the head and causing a traumatic brain injury.

Driving about to parking when the car just stop working completely my children and I where stranded in the middle of the street . Then it would turn on but I was unable to put gear in drive or reverse . Had it towed we thought it was the transmission because transmission light went on but took it to a repair shop the tech stated that it was not the transmission but the problem could possibly be the shifter .

Purchased a brand new 528i BMW and within months I had a coolant signal indicating low coolant. Subsequently, the coolant signal came on every six weeks, despite having it topped off at dealership. Car had inadequate power and felt like it dragged. BMW service center repeatedly failed to identify a problem. Eventually, the signal came on and an intolerable fuel odor emerged upon turning on the car. Fuel and chemical odors remain. I have read of other similar complaints online and believe there is a manufacturing defect that makes the car unsafe. The exposure to carcinogenic coolant fumes and the gas fumes are dangerous. Coolant may be leaking into the engine. Other mechanical issues may be causing the drag and continued loss of power. In one instance I left the vehicle at the BMW service center with a full tank and when it was returned to me, the fuel level had dropped significantly despite having been driven a very small amount of miles by the service people. I am very concerned that these problems pose a safety hazard to not only myself, but the general public and other BMW owners who may be unaware of these issues. I feel the car is compromised by the manufacturing defects and that efforts to repair the problems continue to exist. I feel the car is unsafe and poses a safety and health hazard and that BMW is unwilling to investigate how pervasive the problem may be. I want an investigation and feel the vehicle is unsafe to drive. This is not "the ultimate driving machine. " please investigate these problems and help prevent others from being unnecessarily subjected to toxic fumes and chemicals which may compromise the public's health and the safety of people on the road.

Went on data base NHTSA that says my vehicle has 3 recalls . What do I do n go to fix these problems.
