Exterior Lighting Problems of BMW 528

My driver headlight is constantly getting moisture trapped in it. It’s been replaced twice and the seals were checked, but it keeps happening and shorting out my headlight. It’s $4000 to fix. Just had it replaced 1. 5 weeks ago and it’s broken already. I took it to BMW the moment I noticed the moisture was back and they told me it was fine. This is a widespread problem and they are not fixing their product.

The head lights are frequently burn out although there is no break in the light covers. It is unpredictable and unsafe especially because alot of my driving is at night.

The contact owns a 2015 BMW 528i. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the front driver's side headlight flickered, and the contact pulled over to the side of the road and discovered that the headlight housing was full of water. The failure had occurred on several different occasions with both headlights. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was determined that the front driver's and passenger's side headlight housings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

Both of my headlights had moisture. I replaced the driverside first because you could literally see water sitting in the headlamp. Then I replaced the passengerside a year later because it was doing the same thing that the driver side started doing. I have not had any accidents nor has there been any damage to the front of the car. It appears that this is a known problem. My adaptive part is still not working, but the headlights are working. I have replaced my timinig chain and I keep getting a drivetrain malfunction warning. I am not getting a real answer as to why this is occuring.

Headlights fill with condensation and cause short circuit and headlight and turn signal malfunction. Headlights fill with condensation and moisture even on sunny summer days. No warnings prior to headlights and turn signals malfunctioning. BMW says to drive with headlights on to dispel condensation but the headlights produce no heat to do so and do not illuminate because circuits are damp and not working.

The contact owns a 2013 BMW 328i. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 24v608000 (engine and engine cooling, electrical system) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the headlights fail to illuminate when there is rain or when washing the vehicle. The blinkers fail to signal the intended turn. The warning lights indicating an electrical failure would illuminate. The failures occurred intermittently. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 119. 000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

The vehicle has had no accidents or front impacts but has extensive moisture/condensation build up in both front headlamp housings. I intermittently receive a "adaptive headlight failure "warning in cold temperatures until the vehicle warms up. Night driving visibility is being affected as a result of the lens being covered with said moisture/condensation. I see many 5 series vehicles with the same problem.

Issue with water penetration into adaptive headlights (sealed system) while driving lights can shut off and signals are disabled. Potential major safety issue.

Adaptive lights and turn signal failure. There seems to be a widespread issue with Bmws across all makes and models. The failure of the turn signal creates a safety hazard in that the car is unable to properly signal a change of lanes or turn at stop signs or stop lights. BMW is aware of this defect but has failed to act.

My front left and right headlight assembly went out. Went to take a look to realize all the wiring inside the assembly was exposed and sparking. Come to find out this was a common issue in this year make and model. They are charging $2,500 per assembly for a factory issue that could start a fire. Needs taken care of ASAP.

I parked my car in the garage and 15 minutes later my garage is up in flames. The fire department did an investigation then came to the conclusion that the fire started from my cars front passenger side headlamp area. Doing a little research I find out that I’m not the only one that has had that same expierence.

Something isn’t right with how water travels to and gets into the front headlights of these cars weaking the seals and damaging the multiple modules of these headlights my front passenger headlight out of nowhere started forming condensation in the headlight which shorted almost every module in there it barely works now. I have a coworker with with same exact model and year as mines and he said he just had to have his replaced too. My repair guy says he replaces 2 a week on BMW’s at his shop. Something is defective either with the actual headlights or seals or with how the vehicle is designed to allow water to flow down straight to the headlights through the slits in the hood of the car. Now my car will not pass inspection until I pay $4k to replace the headlight. BMW needs to recall these headlights or fix the trajectory issue or the seal or something I should not be responsible for this cost entirely. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2014 BMW 528i. The contact stated that the driver side daytime running lite would not illuminated due to water and condensation present inside the light housing. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who informed that the water build up in the the light housing was a common problem and the housing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Adaptive headlamp failure including daytime lamp failure from loose headlamp seal that allowed water to infiltrate system. The lights go off at anytime while driving.

Adaptive headlight, turn signals, daytime/parking lamp and headlamp vehicle aim malfunctions. It is available for inspection. Hand signals are required due to the front signals inoperability. It is reason to be aware certain enviromental conditions can prevent hands signals and or other to see the signals. An inability to signal as vehicles are mandated to provide, potentially can be a dire situation for all involved. The actual subject company confirmed the issue upon inspection. Along with two independent mechanic shops. Inspected by manufacturer. There were not any pre-warning alerts. The notifications presented themselves upon the onset of malfunctions. At that point the damage was already embedded. My research uncovered BMW has allowed the defect to exist for over 10 years conservatively. Repairs can cost the BMW owner between $5000 to $10,000. I have not been able to find another manufacture's vehicle with the same issue. Therefore, this is malfeasance on the part of BMW.

The daylight lamps fall apart causing poor lighting at night and continuous alarms while driving. Also, impacting the quality of light and lack of lighting at night. The alarms are continuous and block all other alerts from the vehicle, including cruise control, temperature, overheating, engine, and other notices.

Headlamp wiring and connector has crumbled off leaving bare wires exposed and shorting out with possibility of causing fire.

This malfunction light has been coming on since I bought this vehicle. It is extremely frustrating because every time I have that this car serviced they have never truly fixed the problem. It may stop for a moment and then any random day it will give me this warning as you se in the picture provided. A bigger problem that is unexceptable is that the car keeps flashing a warning about the coolent is needed and that it needs to be fixed or there could be engine damage. This warning has been the main concer. I have had the coolent go into the engine which caused my car to shut down on a busy hwy 3 seperate times, risking a danger to myself and others on the road. I have not heard a word from BMW of north America that they care about my concerns and I feel that this problem has literally affected my health and well being. I have huge anxiety issues because of this car. I hope my letter is heard so that I may have justice for this car. I am overwhelmed with nervousnes everytime I drive it. I feel like something bad will happen to me orcsome else. Please help this matter become res olved!.

Permanent loss of functionality of rear lamp functions tail, brake, turn-signal, reverse.

I turned my car on and it instantly notified me that my taillight was out. Then I stepped out and tapped the taillight and it went back on then I took it to the dealership the next day now they are saying the connectors are burnt and they want me to pay 200$ to repair something that the manufacture should of corrected and perfected this is ridiculous hope someone helps me.
