Electrical System Problems of BMW 740

Stopping without notice can cause an accident and any of the issues can cause safety issues. What I sent them. I am writing to express my concerns regarding a series of issues with my 2017 BMW 740i and to request your assistance in resolving these matters. I have been working with my local BMW dealership to address several problems, but I believe there may be underlying issues that require further attention. I would appreciate it if you could review my case and consider the points outlined below. Background: recently, my vehicle was brought in for service to replace the spark plugs and address a few concerns, including the replacement of the fuel tank cover. During this visit, it was discovered that the pressure control valve was faulty and needed replacement. I was not previously informed of any issues with the pressure valve, and I have learned that BMW has issued an extended warranty on this part due to known faults. My understanding is that a faulty pressure valve can cause erratic fuel pressure, leading to premature spark plug failure. Given that my car has only been driven about 8,000 miles annually and is used weekly, not sitting idle for long periods, the spark plugs should still have life left. However, they may have worn prematurely due to the pressure valve issue. Concerns: pressure control valve and spark plug failure: it is highly unusual for three spark plugs to fail simultaneously, as spark plugs generally wear out gradually over time. In most cases, one spark plug would fail before the others if there were a gradual wear issue. The simultaneous failure of three spark plugs suggests a potential underlying issue, such as a problem with the ignition system, electrical issues, or a direct result of a faulty pressure control valve. I request that BMW cover the replacement cost of the spark plugs under the extended warranty for the pressure valve, considering the potential causation between these issues. Hard jerk when.

Blind spot warning randomly works. Passenger seatbelt phantom seatbelt warning while driving alone!.

Car started smoking while idling, fire department called. Did not have check engine light on smoking from left tail pipe.

Instrument panel went blank. No visual indication of how fast I was traveling. Also frontal collision stop working.

Vehicle had been stationary for several minutes and was parked with emergency break engaged. Key was not inserted. Driver side door open, all doors unlocked. No recent occupants other than the driver seat. Parked at home,in driveway, in gainesville, GA, us. I unloaded some groceries then came back to close driver door. As I approached the vehicle to close drver side door the passenger side airbage suddenly deployed for no apparent reason shattering the windshield. There had been no impact prior to this. It was a hot day.

Audio control system freezes on the BMW 740i. It happens that audio is gone completely, system does not respond to any of the following to raise volume: 1. Gesture commands to raise volume (the system does not even show gesture is involved on the dash display) 2. From the power button by manually adjusting higher, there is no response from system at all and dash screen does not show volume increase is being attempted. 3. From the volume up button on the steering wheel, again no sign on dash screen that volume increase is being attempted.

The alarm system runs down the battery and the head lights blanks constantly while car is running also back taillight goes off on on on passage side .

Common defect: air bag warning light is on. Suspected passenger seat sensor failure. I've had 2 BMW's from this series - both with the same issue - yet no recall from BMW - why? isn't this a safety system? I see airbag recalls on cars dating back to this era. Why none for BMW? also - odometer ribbon cable failure causing pixels to fail. No recall - problem exists across the series from 1996-2001 and beyond. No fix - no recall - no repairs offered. Why?.

We were traveling I-75 south near gainesville, FL. , and the vehicle just shut down. We were in the fast lane and had to struggle to steer it to get it off the hwy. Light came on saying drivetrain malfunction. Dangerous situation. The vehicle had been struck by lightening at 11,000 miles and it shut down while we were driving it at about 50 mph. Insurance company refuse to total vehicle out and fixed it for $41,000. Same scenario. Vehicle not safe and BMW will not respond to the loss. Breakdown on may 11, as a result of lightening strike. No one will accept responsibility.

I was driving to work and was passing a truck in front of me and heard a loud pop. I thought my windshield had been hit by something until I saw that there was no damage, so I kept driving. My car began to overheat so I slowed down. When I got to work I looked at my car and saw that the hood had an almost hole in it so I looked under the hood and found my belts gone and damage to the underside of the hood and lining. A fellow employee looked at it for me and we discovered that my fan had been obliterated and a great deal of damage had been done to my car. I called and had a tow truck to pick it up after calling my insurance company and was told I couldn't file a claim as there was no accident that happened with the car. I later had it fixed at a place called terry's car care center that cost me close to $1300 to fix.

On Saturday, June 4, my daughter was driving my 2000 BMW 740i. She had been driving for about 4 blocks and the passenger seat broke out in flames. It began when the car filled with smoke. She did not know what was going on so she pulled over and got out of the car and when she stepped back from the car, she saw flames coming from the seat of the car. The car has heated seats -- but the fire seemed to come from the panel of controls that is on the side of the seat. The fire department was called and they put out the fire in the seat of the car. The menlo park, CA fire department took a report.

Lcd pixel failure dashboard instrument cluster warning indicators unable to see safety and engine warnings.

The doors will not unlock. All doors with the exception of the driver door will not unlock. If you pull on any of the doors door handle twice from the inside it should open. All of this happen when the alarm activated without any reason. Alarm stopped working and doors will not unlock.

Burned harness connector to thermostat. Fortunately the burned wires were only about 3 inches past the connector.

The information panel in front of the stering column in the dash is so pixalated the information such as the odometer and other necessary safety information is unreadable. The dealer where the car was purchased as a certified BMW, 18 months after the purchase in 2004 the car had approximately 60,000 miles at the time (now 75,000 miles), said it would cost approximately $1500 to $2000 to replace and it was our responsibility. We have lived with it for some years now and try to avoid driving at night. The car has always been used sparingly because of this problem. There was no condition that we know of that caused the problem. Only hearsay, but the BMW service person told us that this happens sometime and they could not explain why. We know that there were others with the some problem but of course the dealer would not say in their protective conversation. I do not blame them but I do blame them, the dealer, and BMW for not giving the benefit of the doubt and full didclosure that it was not normal and was a defect. Thanks to a neighbor I learned of this site. I hope people buying a new BMW extends their warrenty to include the instrument panel.

While driving, the consumer heard a sound which was coming from the air conditioner. Also, radiator had a crack. Check coolant light illuminated on the dash board. The vehicle was BMW certified. The windows fell off of track, the cd player and the nau system was inoperative.

Engine failed entirely, while passing a vehicle. Driver able to retain enough control to bring car to halt safely on shoulder. Car towed to technicians. Upon inspection, a hole was found in a cylinder, causing complete engine faiure technicians indicate that electronic firing failed, causing a hole to be burned in the wall of cylinder! engine a complete loss. Quite lucky no one was killed in this accident waiting to become a catastrophe!.

Traction control, brake and abs light are all indicating failure. Dealer is unable to determine cause. Brakes appear to work ok but warning lights cause concern.
