Three problems related to air bag not deploy have been reported for the 2006 BMW X3. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
On April 15 the vehicle was in a collision with severe front end damage. The tear down estimate was over $10,000. Funny thing was the air bag did not deploy.
The passenger airbag sensor has continuously stayed lit since initial activation, indicating there is no occupant in the seat when one is present. The airbag system will not deploy in the event of a crash because of this issue. A recall has been made by BMW on this same issue and has classified it as an airbag mat sensor issue with my year, make and model included. However, my VIN is not showing up as a defective vehicle when the exact same issue is happening. This is a safety issue, not cosmetic. If any issue presents itself that will inflict harms to occupants, it should be a mandatory recall regardless of VIN. BMW is not standing behinds it's customers to protect the safety of them and their families. Gross negligence.
The passenger airbag sensor light and dashboard airbag light both turned on shortly after purchasing our pre-owned 2006 BMW X3. This means that our passenger airbag will not deploy in the case of an accident. The BMW dealership has diagnosed the problem to be the passenger seat mat. I saw that there is a recall on some 2006 X3 seat mats, but was informed by BMW that my VIN number is not included in the recall. It seems very odd that our car was not included in the recall, yet the exact same part is faulty.
