While actively driving at speed this loaner vehicle, the vehicle's driving assistance professional package (dapp) completely deactivated without warning. This caused an immediate, unexpected loss of both adaptive cruise control and active lane-keeping steering assistance, requiring sudden manual emergency intervention to maintain control of the vehicle and avoid a collision. This is a severe safety defect. The vehicle has been presented to an authorized BMW dealership twice for this exact failure. It is currently on its second repair attempt and has been out of service for over 20 consecutive days. The dealership and manufacturer have been unable to permanently resolve my personal vehicle this electronic/steering system malfunction.

The dealership and manufacturer have been unable to permanently resolve this electronic/steering system malfunction. Additionally, they gave me another 2025 BMW X3 VIN %ux53gp04s9029297 which experienced the same problem yesterday 3/28/2026 while I was driving about 35 miles per hour on the freeway.
Adas camera bracket on windshield deformed due to heat. The bracket will no longer hold the camera and the deformation was so severe it broke the mounting tab that holds the adas camera.

There is a failure with the camera not being able to calibrate and a number of error messages.
The clips that hold the kafas camera system are faulty and easily break. The kafas unit gets exceptionally hot and damages the clips causing the unit to go out of alignment and then cause all of the safety features to fail. The fact that you have to replace the whole windshield to repair two small plastic clips is an egregious mechanical design failure, waste of resource, and just insane design.
At time of purchase sales executive mentioned about adaptive cruise control is in build with premium package but it is not installed in my car. Waiting for dealership to respond on my query.
I have contacted NHTSA and BMW several times. I want this in writing in the case myself or my children are injuried when in this vehicle. My BMW X3 is my only form of transportation the engine light is on and it has started to smoke twice when engine is off. I just purchased the car second week of March 2022. It is hard for the car to accelerate and once the car is stopped at light or stop sign, the car does not have enough power to drive away or pull off. The car rpm goes very high and then low. This issue is unsafe and unfair that a customer can not drive their vehicle to work and appointments for my son with autism as well as my other 3 children. The burden is on BMW and NHTSA to remedy this issue. I will be contacting my local congress person to address this issue is well.

Earlier this year I was notified by BMW that as of Feb 2022 my car would lose all networking capability due to the phase out of 3g cell towers. The "connecteddrive" package would become inoperative, and importantly, would no longer be able to route my travel according to traffic. My heads-up display is currently very well integrated with the navigation system, adaptive cruise control, and safety warning systems. I consider these important safety features. BMW has offered no fix for this. I have suggested to them that simply permitting the driver to tether the navigation (by usb or bluetooth) to a cell phone would solve the problem, but they have refused. The nav system and the BMW cell phone app both prevent tethering, which otherwise is built into the BMW's windows ce-based operating environment. I don't want to navigate using my phone, as it would be a 3rd display (the one in the dash, the hud, and the phone). I think one driver with 3 screens would be a safety hazard. Can you help get them to permit tethering to my cell phone once the 3g towers are gone?.
