1 Warnings problem of the 2026 BMW X3

Failure Date: 08/25/2026

In two separate instances, I used the parking assist to back into a parking spot. Both times, the car moved forward but came so close to the car in front that I applied the brake. I felt that there would have been contact if I hadn’t. No reported damages in either instance. I stopped using the feature and will report to BMW service.

2 Warnings problem of the 2026 BMW X3

Failure Date: 08/22/2026

I am reporting a potential safety issue involving my **2026 BMW X3 30 xdrive**. I was parked on the right side of a parking lot. I moved the vehicle partially out of the parking space and slightly to the left to allow someone to enter the vehicle. I came to a stop and removed my foot from the brake while the vehicle was being held. I then turned toward the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle suddenly accelerated/moved forward across the parking aisle and struck two vehicles. The incident happened extremely quickly. I cannot state with certainty whether my foot inadvertently contacted the accelerator, and I do not want to speculate. I believe I attempted to brake. Of particular concern, I experienced * apparent automatic collision-avoidance/emergency braking intervention before striking the vehicles**. Prior to this accident, I had expressed concern to a BMW advisor about the speed and acceleration of this vehicle while using its automated parking system. While the advisor was demonstrating the automated parking feature, I specifically commented that the vehicle was moving unusually fast and that I was uncomfortable with the amount of acceleration. I was told that this behavior was normal. On another occasion while using the automated parking/reverse function, I became sufficiently concerned about the vehicle's speed and acceleration that I applied the brake myself because I was afraid the vehicle could cause a collision. I had also previously raised concerns regarding inconsistent operation of the vehicle's lane departure warning/assistance system. I have contacted BMW of north America and requested that BMW preserve and examine the vehicle's electronic and diagnostic data, including accelerator and brake inputs, auto hold status, automated parking system activity, forward collision mitigation/automatic emergency braking activity, sensor information, diagnostic/event logs and available crash/event data. I have specifically asked BMW to determine whether acc.

5 Warnings problem of the 2025 BMW X3

Failure Date: 06/19/2025

My accident on [xxx] with my 2025 BMW X3 VIN [xxx] was avoidable and caused by either failure in design, or in execution in two BMW systems, I'll discuss parking assist here. Pictures and videos (even one of the crash) can be downloaded here: [xxx] prior to the accident my husband set a backing up path “home 1” within the BMW parking assist program for me to follow to align the car when backing into our driveway. This takes over braking and steering to move the car on a predetermined path and stops at the end. I have successfully used it many times. It shows up as an option when backing near the top of our driveway. In the video of the crash ([xxx]), the car turns into the driveway, slows to a rolling stop, and then continues back and crashes. I pressed the “start home 1” icon to enable it when I thought the car was stopped but retrospectively was likely rolling very slowly at the top of the driveway. The icon showed me the “home 1” path as being accepted by changing from “start home 1” to “cancel home 1” thus I believed the car was following the “home 1” path, but the car evidently did not actually engage “home 1. ” my husband's investigation shows that this happens if the car is not fully stopped, even while the brake pedal is pressed, while pressing the “start home 1” button. This behavior is documented in the mp4 ([xxx]). I thought that “home 1” was engaged and the car following the predetermined path, even though in retrospect, it was not. Evidently, the car was rolling backward in reverse on a downgrade not following the "home 1" path. The car gave me the opportunity to cancel the "home 1" path even though the car wasn't following it! by the time I saw the car was not stopping, I pressed the brake pedal hard, but it was too late to avoid the car hitting our house, damaging car and house. BMW has the car and is investigating. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

6 Warnings problem of the 2022 BMW X3

Failure Date: 09/04/2022

I have lane keep assist set to early with steering intervention. Lka would sometimes shut off by itself in the 45-60 mph highway speed range in sunny weather with clear road markings, and sometimes would stay on even when my speed decreases even to 35 mph instead of 40 mph. I understand if weather is bad, lka might not work, but I am very confused, in broad daylight, what would cause the lka to turn on or off and deactivate/activate at different speeds? I have the standard pdc with the "forward and rear corner sensors that trigger a warning beep at approximately a 2 ft. Distance from the object. " is there any way to control the distance the parking distance control sensors activate automatically like in merc? since I don't have active park distance control (option zx1) which "automatically applies emergency braking when the reversing vehicle gets too close to an object behind or at the side of the vehicle when a collision is imminent at speeds below 3 mph," would the car still auto brake for me if I am backing up reverse in a parking garage if there is cross traffic alert or I am hitting object behind me?.
