Two problems related to air bag on-off switch have been reported for the 2006 BMW X5. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
1) the air bag light does not go off. It stays on. Air bags engage but light is just as bright as can be. 2) ignition switch security latch does not release. Have to smack steering wheel after turning off alarm to place key into ignition slot.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW X5. The contact stated that there was a faulty air bag seat sensor switch on the passenger side that continuously failed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who repaired the vehicle. The manufacturer was contacted but provided no further assistance. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 72,000.
