Four problems related to side/window air bag have been reported for the 2006 BMW X5. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Tl- the contact owns a 2006 BMW X5. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag sensor light continued to flash off and on when a passenger was either occupying the seat and also when there was no passenger. The contact also indicated that the seat belt warning chime was activated when the passenger was secured using the seat belt. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the NHTSA campaign number 13v564000 (air bags). The contact stated that the vehicle experienced the same defect listed in the recall. The failure mileage was 93,000. Jft.
The contact owns a 2006 BMW X5. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the passenger side air bag sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,750 and the current mileage was 60,890.
My 2006 X5 BMW 4. 4i has recently experienced a failure in the passenger side airbag sensor which fails to identify a passenger in the front passenger seat and thus does not activate the passenger side airbag.
