I keep getting a message that says service air bag. My local dealer says that they have a service bulletin that says there is a faulty sensor & the fix is to have their electrician hard wire the problem. ($550. 00 my cost) I asked what if not fixed, said that front collision the airbag would not deploy. To me this is a huge safety issue & should not be my problem to repair.

We have a very serious concern about our vehicle. We were involved in a car accident on Friday, July 28, 2018. A car ran right into our rear without stopping at about 45 mph. We were very surprised our airbags did not deploy upon impact. We smelled the smoke usually involved with the airbags being deployed but nothing happened other than a notification to service the airbags which did not exist prior to this incident. Luckily, we had our seatbelts on but still suffered neck and back pain which will be further evaluated by a doctor. We believe our airbags were defective and are gravely upset at this occurrence.

We were involved in a motor vehicle accident on I-79 in pennsylvania where we were struck from the rear we were stopped in traffic the impact was severe it knocked the rear tire completely off. There was smoke coming in the vents of the front of the car and the air bags did not deploy. The front passenger seat belts tighten up so much that it caused bruising on my chest and ribs. My car was totaled out beyond repair. I do not understand why there was smoke coming from the front and the air bags did not deploy. Upon our return home I received an email from diagnostic indicating there was a serious issue with the frontal air bags. I am being told there is no recalls on my vehicle this is concerning to me what if someone else is rear ended and the air bags fail causing death or injury. I believe my vehicle is defective and I don't know what to do.
The service air bags light is on. I called dealer to find out how much it would be and they said any where from 2-3 hundred to 2-3 thousand. The air bag will not deploy until it is fixed. It just came on out of the blue after starting vehicle yesterday. I checked for recalls and did not find any.

Last night (11/21/2016) my 2012 Buick Enclave¿s passenger airbag light came on. Vehicle has only 61,000 miles. I took it in and found out that the passenger presence module needs to be replace at a cost to me of $1100. I was also told that air bags will not deploy in the event of a crash. I¿ve noticed that this is an ongoing problem many people have with this car. How is this not a recall?.

Airbag light on passenger side indicates airbag will not deploy. Vehicle has been brought in to several different dealerships to be evaluated, each claiming a different code has been activated, however no fix has been permanent. Vehicle had previous recall (2011) on airbag sensor - fix was not permanent. Most recent time, dealership claims a sensor in the seat is bad and will require $1200 fix due to its location in the seat??? codes b0074 & b0081 (internal fault in passenger presence module) there is not a time that the airbag engages - still or moving. This has been an issue while was still in warranty and beyond warranty - gm refuses to work with me.
Indicator light shows passenger airbag needs to be replaced. Dealer said it may not deploy in event of impact. Car has not been in accident and airbag has not been deployed previously.

Driving down the road on a 50mph zone and a vehicle pulled out in front of us. Our car t-boned the car that pulled in front of us. Everyone had there seatbelts on but the front airbags never deployed. I dont understand why they wouldnt have deployed when we hit the other car at at least 40mph after slamming on the breaks.

The contact sustained neck, back, shoulder, arms, leg and foot injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v817000 (air bags) however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. On passenger side, air bag sensor does not detect a passenger sitting in the seat so indicator light always says "off" and will turn on sometimes, but most times not turn on at all. We were concerned that in a crash, the passenger air bag would not deploy as it thinks no one is seated there. We took the car to berglund Chevrolet for repair. They had to replace the sensor and passenger side seat cushion to resolve the problem and it cost in excess of $700. This should have been a recall as I have read on this website that others had similar problems with their airbag. This is a follow up to our earlier complaint @10583156.
2011 Buick Enclave, all recalls completed. When turning into driveway from a total stop vehicle experienced unexpected acceleration and crashed through part-way up garage door, side wall of garage, (right wheel over 6" concrete foundation), pushed items stored in garage into front wall and moved wall 12" into laundry room. Vehicle stopped when left front wheel hit concrete step into service door although tire left tread mark on floor until engine turned off. Distance traveled was about 2 1/2 car lengths. Damage to right front mainly. $12,300 dealer estimated damage. Driver suffered soft tissue bruising, chipped tooth, soreness. Air bags did not deploy. Odb showed no dtc codes. Vehicle visually/manually inspected by dealer per insurance company request - nothing found. Claim filed with esis/gm central claims unit. Edr, sdm & cdr data were downloaded using bosch software and pictures taken of vehicle. Data/pictures were turned over to gm investigators. Owner contacted onstar for data but nothing was received by them. However, initial sdm data indicates 'onstar deployment status data sent' and 'sdm recorded vehicle velocity change data sent. ' investigation currently 3 months on-going, vehicle untouched. Vehicle also previously exhibited issue of free rolling backward or forward when stopped on an incline. Auto transmission and torque converter would not hold vehicle.
Driver exiting a parking lot did not see my vehicle and did not stop. Hit my vehicle mid way on the passenger side pushing my vehicle sideways causing it to hit a light pole on the driver side front fender and hood. Air bags did not deploy and seat belt did not work causing me to hit the steering wheel with my chest and my knee on the dash. I was taken to emergency room. Nothing was broken but had extensive soft tissue, muscle strains and cartilage damage. Am still receiving treatment at this time.

The "service air bag" light consistently comes on and the dealer states there is nothing to worry about as far as the functioning of the airbags when we were under the bumper to bumper warranty. But, now that I have 108k and still dealing with this issue, along with the recall notices for "some" 2008-2009 and all of 2010-2013 Enclaves I requested the dealer take another look at the sensor issue. Now, the dealer states that yes there is an issue with the air bag sensor and my air bags will not deploy properly in an accident but that the issue is not what is covered under the current warranty out for the Enclaves based on my VIN number. Either the warranty should cover the cost of repair or the dealer should replace the part that should have been replaced under the bumper to bumper warranty.
