I own a 2010 BMW. The
cruise cont. Has been changed for 2010 & in my opinion is a safety hazard. No
failures-no accidents-yet. Standard feature of 2010 BMW 3, 4, 1, series &
perhaps all (manual transmissions) is the cruise control does not disengage
when the clutch pedal is depressed. This is a new feature for the 2010
models. It has always disengaged by pressing the clutch or brake, and obviously by manually turning off. The result is if the cruise is on, and the driver downshifts for braking, when the clutch is released, the car shoots back to the pre-set speed. Thus no engine braking occurs. This is not safe. If downshifting, driver needs to either touch the brake first to disengage the cruise, or manually turn it off. Not sure why this is considered an improvement by BMW; it is a safety hazard. Is there anything you can do to recall these cars for re-programming of the cruise control? model year not listed.
