Buzzing heard when I pressed on accelerating pedal. Heard a pop, then it would not accelerate and smoked out tail pipe. Engine light and oil lights both turned on. Vehicle was in motion when it occurred . I parked shortly after incident and had car towed to firestone next morning. Jeff said engine blew and recommended dealer powertrain warranty to fix. Turbo blew which blew engine.

I was driving on a 70mph highway. Went to pass slower vehicle. The car did not react to the accelerator. In fact it slowed down with the engine trying to rev up. Luckily, there were no other vehicles trying to pass at the same time because I had to drop back. Car is currently at a Buick dealership for engine propulsion repair. Do not have complete estimate for repair yet. Was told could be approx $2300. One year earlier, at 50000 miles had similar acceleration problems because of catalyst converter. The catalyst converter was replaced under warranty.
With estimating my months over a span of 4 months I had my turbo charger replacedbecause it had gone bad. I was out of town the light came on. And when I return I took it to the shop they diagnose it and said it was a turbo charger. I had an extended warranty on the car so they replace the turbo charger with no problems give me a rental with no problems everything was covered. . And a month and a half later my engine light came on and I replaced the purge valve another month or so later the engine light came back on and it was a turbo charger gone bad again. It took about week to find out why the turbo charge went bad. They finally said it had something to do with the return and supply line like there was no lubrication coming through a hose tthat runs to the turbo charge. This is the only place that I've had my oil change since I bought the car from king Cadillac Buick GMC. I went one other place one other time and that was it. I wonder why they did not check the supply line when they change the turbocharger the first time is that not a part of changing the turbo charge. I was told that they have seen this issue before but not a lot. When this first happened I was on interstate 40 on my way to was to salem north carolina. And I noticed a decline when I went to celebrate on the gas. When it happened the second time I was riding to church here in my hometown and the engine light came on and just riding around hell is as if the car did not want to go like I would give it to gas and it would hesitate or not want to drive.
The vehicle started making noises and the instrument panel and screen went out. The vehicle was drivable, but the entire instrument panel was out. Radio stopped working, my screen went dark and the backup camera didn't work. The first time this happened the vehicle was stationary and the second it occurred while backing out a parking spot.

Purchased new Buick Encore 2020 on 05/22/2000. Previous vehicle was Honda civic. Encore never seemed to have enough power & would downshift. On 10/19/20 there was an issue action requested) detected by Buick but I was not notified. Then on 10/28/2020, we were diving the vehicle when it seemed to loose power & an 18 wheeler almost hit us. Encore has 5,302 miles on it. 10/28/20 3:41 p. M. Message from Buick dx. The engine and transmission system is not performing as expected. An issue has been detected in the air induction system which monitors and controls air intake to the engine. We were traveling from medical appointments & almost did not make it home. The vehicle is very dangerous & is at the dealer now. I am severely disabled & ill and bought this vehicle for medical appointments out of town. It has clearly had a problem since it was purchased. I will not pick up the vehicle from the dealership no matter how they try to fix it at is extremely dangerous when loosing power. We were on an interstate when this started happening. Thank you.

If the vehicle detects a turbo under boost condition, engine power is immediately reduced (limp mode) with no indicator light or warning to the driver. This happened on a mountain highway, I did not know the vehicle was in limp mode and as I accelerated into traffic I was almost hit by a truck from behind. I learned through experience, if no turbo boost error occurs during the next drive cycle, (ie coming home down the mountain road) the pending code is cleared and the same condition can happen again, again without setting a cel.
While driving 25 mph, stabilizer and engine light came on. While in drive, accelerating, tach and speed dropped to nothing. Stabilizer light flashed. Parked vehicle on the side of the road, service power steering message appeared. Attempted to drive vehicle to near by parking lot, no power steering, transmission shifted into drive but shift gears when accelerated. Speedometer and tach didn't work. Noticed heater stayed on when key was removed. Started car, same message, same lights. Turned heater off, removed key. Hearter lights stayed on, and fan kept running. Car sitting at a dealership, with a dead battery.
I've had my Encore for almost 2 years. It is a 2015 and just under 50000 miles. For the last month its been saying awd off. This is as soon as the car starts. It also dibgs and comes up again every 10 minutes while driving. I've. Consulted the manual and it says overheating and to turn back on. This does nothing. It's been icy here and I'm starting to feel unsafe. I don't know what. To do. I cant shell out hundreds to have it looked at. And have someone not be able to fix it.

While traveling at higher speeds (60+ mph), the check engine light will come on and the car will lose significant power in 4th and higher gear. This will present as speed can still be gained although very slowly in 4th gear, speed can be maintained but not gained while in 5th gear, and speed will only be lost while in 6th gear. 3rd gear and below all work fine. This issue is resolved by turning the car off for a while and then it continues to operate as it should thereafter, however, the check engine light will remain lit for a few days. The main concern is that the car loses the capability to get out of the way in the case of an emergency due to the lack of power while in this state.
Camshaft cover failed pcv system had cover replaced at 50,000 miles under power train warranty engine light comes vehicle stalls at stop light this happened again at 80,000 miles this time because of causing to much vacum had to replace intake manifold gasket so it is my thought maybe Buick should put this camshaft cover with pcv system on recall same part failed again.
Driving car locks up check engine light comes on says check power steering, we aimed to side of the shoulder car dies wouldn't start. We had to wait on side of a interstate for 3 hours to get a tow truck, very dangerous.
The contact owns a 2019 Buick Encore. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle loss motive power and stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact also stated that the vehicle failed to start-up after several attempts with the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle driven and towed to several different dealers however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The engine was replaced however, the failure persisted. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 20v668000 (power train) which he linked to the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60.

Poor acceleration causing increase in force on gas pedal. Happens at random times while on flat surfaces, going up hill, around curves with ac on or off. Once acceleration kicks in, speed increases causing the need for applying the breaks. Requires additional space when pulling out on the road to ensure enough time to achieve proper speed. Took to certified dealership for service. Tech unable to duplicate issue and since no codes or service light, they are unable to fix the issue. Picked up the car from dealership. Next day issue continues. Car would also continue to accelerate when foot removed from pedal (almost like cruise control was on), pressed on breaks which did not make a difference. Had to move to side of road & continue try & stop. Made a second appointment to return car back to dealership. Afraid of transporting people in vehicle due to unknown/sticking accelerator issues.
Tl the contact owns a 2013 Buick Encore. The contact stated that the vehicle was experiencing electrical failures. One side of the vehicle was able to be heated through the vents while the other side was not able. The vehicle also jerked when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the electrical failure was confirmed. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted regarding the jerking and heating failure. The failure mileage was 108,000.
On 5/26/18 I test drove a used 2014 Buick Encore at gulf coast Chevrolet Buick in angleton TX. I liked the car but noticed it idled a little. I spoke with the sales associate and the service tech and they both said that was normal for the car. I decided to proceed and purchase the vehicle. Since then I have had multiple issues with the car, including the rough idle getting worse. Since may 26 2018 my car has been back at the dealership for repairs 4 times. Each of those times I requested for the rough idle to be looked further into along with the other issues it was having. This last time I took it in on 07/30/18 due to a service light coming on battery saver active, I told them for a second time there was still a chirping noise under the hood and told them again it has a rough idle that seems worse. That while in park and while sitting at a stop light or stop sign with my foot on the break its rough/shakey feeling. And when sitting at stop lights it also will sputter while sitting there in gear. They told me, they could not duplicate service code and they didn't even see it, they could not duplicate the sputtering, but it did need a new camshaft seal. That the blown seal was causing it to chirp and repairing it probably fixed the rough idle. It did not fix the rough idle! I spoke with service manager and the general manager on 08/07/18 after service called on 8/5/18 saying they couldn't duplicate all the issues I explained. Service manger said they could not get it to duplicate the rough idle and sputtering. The general manager test drop my car and then gave my key back saying your car is ready it runs fine. As I go to leave the dealership it does the issue again. I drive it over to service to get them to sit in it and feel what I'm talking about. He does and says he feels it, but its probably just the ac and hands me the key back.
Battery west even a year old and it went out. Dead. Coolant was leaking. But wasn't leaking at first. I believe they damaged it. When we took it for check up the same warranty was going out and they said we will make sure everything is working. They just half fix every thing and got the money. This is a lemon. Coolant leak and conditioning still don't work. What do you do. Just.

Heavy vibration in lower gear while shifting seems to come from engine or transmission cant tell but strong vibration can be felt in shift handle when you attain higher gear seems to stop on city street or highway same experience worse in lower gears.
I was dropping my kids to school. I was in line of drop off. I stopped my car put my car in park and removed my foot from brake. Suddenly I noticed that my car was moving just like in the speed of neutal. I pushed the brakes hard because my car was about to hit the car infront of me. I checked the the shift was still in the park. So in short, car was still moving when in park. Scarry!!!!.
1. The vehicle roll backwards in unpredictable ways even on small inclines when foot is taken off the brakes. At times vehicle will go forward and at other times it will roll back on the exact slope. We were told by Buick dealers that the manufacturer does not see this as an issue. However, both my wife and I have been startled on several occasions in ways that we have never experienced before. We consider ourselves to be very safe drivers an have been driving for over 20 years in the us with no accident claims. None of the vehicles we have owned or driven had been this difficult to maneuver. On several occasions, we have come close to hitting stopped vehicles behind us at traffic signals. 2. In addition, rear visibility through the small windows is challenging which is further obstructed by columns. 3. Also, rear visibility through the rear view camera is poor under normal daylight conditions due to the poor resolution. As a result of the above points, it's very unnerving when one is caught on the driver seat with the vehicle moving backwards unexpectedly. Finally, the inevitable happened. The vehicle met with an accident as a result of this. The vehicle which usually goes forward with feet off accelerator on a mild sloped driveway in front of our house, rolled backwards in this particular instance. The startled driver erred on the side of safety by pressing the gas pedal to move the vehicle forward since there were children playing around. However, with limited room to maneuver, the vehicle ended up hitting our garage door. The repair has been estimated at $6000 +. $1500 for the garage door. We firmly believe this is a direct result of the vehicle operational design. It has nothing to do with our driving. We have not had a single incident in 20 years of driving with any of the cars we owned or rented.
My vehicle's awd disabled while driving home from work approximately 5pm during a snowstorm (I was about 9 minutes away from my home after driving for approximately 25 minutes). I was driving up an incline when the awd suddenly disabled, resulting in violent loss of control of my vehicle. I drove sideways up and then consequently down the hill and curvy road, veering into the opposite lane many times during the duration of my drive home. Luckily there was no oncoming traffic, I tried to stay in the center of the road until I reached flat road without inclines, dips and curves, when I was able to slide back into my lane. My vehicle was constantly pulling itself off the road and heading towards the guardrails. The awd did not recover and I had no control over my vehicle. I just barely managed to get the vehicle up the last incline and into my street/driveway. The next morning, the awd was restored. This is the second time that my awd disabled. The first time it disabled was earlier that year, approximately January-February 2016, during a snowstorm on my morning commute up the same road. During this first time, I had only been driving approximately 6 minutes when the awd disabled. I slid sideways up the incline but managed to keep the car in my lane, although it was sliding frequently. . Eventually I reached a flat stretch of road when the awd restored itself approximately within 15 minutes. Both driving experiences when the awd disabled were incredibly frightening. I simply thought it was a fluke the first time it happened. I reported the second and most recent instance to my car dealership, who stated that there is no fix and no recall. I have an extended warranty on my vehicle. I have all-season tires which are more than sufficient and adequate to deal with winter weather driving.
Hesitation when accelerating to enter freeway or pass.
In a line of traffic getting ready to make a left turn and without warning, the engine raced causing the car to accelerate and slam into the rear of another car causing over $5k worth of damage to the Encore. The air bags did not go off. The impact was so intense that the rear glove box opened tossing the contents out into the trunk.
The contact owns a 2014 Buick Encore. While the vehicle was stopped in the drive gear and the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle shook and surged forward. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to sun Buick GMC (3333 sunrise highway wantagh, NY 11793), but the failure could not be duplicated. The contact found service bulletin: pi0928c on the NHTSA website, but the dealer failed to repair the vehicle even though the vehicle was still under warranty. The manufacturer was notified of the dealer's failure to service the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the issue had been ongoing since purchasing the vehicle in August of 2014. The failure mileage was approximately 10.
2013 Buick Encore. Consumer writes in regards to abs and all wheel drive transmission system issues. The consumer stated the brakes would squeak, rub and grab. On thanksgiving day, while driving down his driveway, on snowy day, the abs locked up and the vehicle went off the road into a plowed snow bank, in which the bumper was cracked. Also, as he wife was driving, the vehicle pulled to the right, as she braked. On two occasions, the awd drive light illuminated on the dashboard.
Premium trim level has forward collision warning. On at least six occasions beginning November of last year (2013), the forward collision warning has come on with no vehicle in front for hundreds of feet and has disengaged the cruise control, essentially causing the vehicle to coast until the accelerator was manually depressed. Four incidents occurred while traveling on the new jersey turnpike at 65 to 68 mph; one incident occurred on a local road at 45 mph; and one incident occurred on a local road traveling at 35 mph (police patrolled area, use cruise to not exceed speed limit). During each episode, road conditions were dry and calm (no debris flying in front of the camera to trigger the feature, nor windshield wiper in use). After the first two incidents, it was brought up verbally with service tech when vehicle was in for routine maintenance, and most recently last month when vehicle was checked for seat track safety recall. This complaint was not put on the service record either time. Both times I was told that something must have triggered the camera. Nothing went across my windshield to trigger this feature. Cruise control disengaging at highway speed is unsafe.
