Vehicle Speed Control Problems of Buick Encore

When I'm driving sometimes the car seems like it's about to cut off or something & the check engine light plus stabilizer track message bones on & I start losing power & it's happened more than 10 times ! I let the car sit for a few minutes & it works !.

I have had my vehicle to a gm dealer on a few occasions with the emc code stored in the vehicle and an active check engine light on. While I’m driving - now during 70 percent or more of my trips - my vehicle loses power very suddenly and lunges me forward. I’m unable to stop and go on hills of any noticeable grade and have narrowly missed being in an accident many times. The dealer’s service manager has told me I should just bf glad the car is drivable when I have expressed ongoing safety concerns. I cannot get assistance from gm nor from the dealer in having this warranty connected part replaced. I do not have any other vehicle to drive, and I know I’m unsafe. I teach school and must get back and forth to work.

While driving, my car began to glitch out. The screens started turning on and off, the doors began locking and unlocking, and I lost my ability to steer, brake, and accelerate. It caused me to run a red light and I almost got into a severe accident. This issue has occurred several times, and during more recent occasions the car has turned off completely while driving. There were no warning lights or messages indicating that something was wrong with the car, but sometimes when I turn the car back on, it says “calibrating. ” if Buick has sold cars that are capable of losing complete control, this should be investigated immediately.

Unknown issues w/ sensors and wiring lead to turbocharger failure. This led to spontaneous acceleration issues on the highway. Less than a year after the warranty covered the replacement of the turbocharger (less than 60k miles on the car) the turbocharger again failed (64k miles on car).

Transmission whirring, vehicle is skipping while driving, gear/rpm not downshifting after acceleration.

My car engine did not shut off I had to call on star to assist turn off my engine. There is problem with anti theft system and cruise control. I had to press cruise button numberous time to shut it off. On start customer advice me to take it to dealer to take look. They did on board diagnosit test they found these code.

My radar to let me know I was going to hit something didn't go offer. It has never failed before and has been overactive actually which I appreciated before. I was doing 60 with my paraplegic wife (luckily not our 5 year old as well though) in the right lane because it's safer to go slower and be there. I was distracted by a strange machine being transported on a truck to my left. This was my fault. I hear the ultimate responsibility and the majority if not all of it. I saw the road construction trucks 400 feet ahead of me at most. Maybe less than 300 and luckily no one was to my right the truck distracting me was ahead so I had room to avoid hitting the construction truck with the sign saying move over. It was doing maybe 15. I almost killed my wife. It was my fault but still the $3000 safety package failed. Almost catastrophically.

I purchased my 2014 Buick Encore April 2021 that next year 2022 my engine light came on I took it to o'reilly they turned it off towards the end of the year my vehicle started driving rough I was having trouble taking off once I did it would idle up high when I came to a stop it would start shaking and it would turn off cars went around me I couldn't accelerate it kept hesitating so now I'm scared to drive it on the highway this year 2023 engine light is still on currently here's the code that came up p020 they day my engine light came on April 5th my mileage was 94,357 my ac stopped working at the same time I don't know if that would cause my ac to start blowin hot air my car insurance allstate is how I found out about the engine alert ty,,.

I was sitting at the bank drive through about to leave when out of nowhere I got a warning sign on my dashboard that said service stabilitrak my engine light starts flashing and my stabilizer light came on. My SUV acted like it lost power and I had problems getting it to go it was like my gas petal was stuck for a second. When the car shifted it self it started jerking.

At approximately 1130am, pulling into parking space in a parking lot at very low speed, 50% of vehicle was in the parking space, when suddenly the car accelerated forward. This resulted in my vehicle jumping over a safety curb and crashing into a building resulting in damage to my vehicle.

I was driving on a 70mph highway. Went to pass slower vehicle. The car did not react to the accelerator. In fact it slowed down with the engine trying to rev up. Luckily, there were no other vehicles trying to pass at the same time because I had to drop back. Car is currently at a Buick dealership for engine propulsion repair. Do not have complete estimate for repair yet. Was told could be approx $2300. One year earlier, at 50000 miles had similar acceleration problems because of catalyst converter. The catalyst converter was replaced under warranty.

Multiple lights came on at once and needed an intake manifold, pvc tube, valve cover, all which were repaired and the car continues to jerk forward intermittently on acceleration and deceleration.

Pulling into a parking spot and the car took over and was speeding and hit the concrete pole,air bags went off the car was totaled.

I had purchased a 2015 Buick Encore vehicle on March 03, 2020, that had a "not for sale" yellow sticker on the windshield. I had notice that the vehicle made a thumping sound under the hood on the driver side when riding on the highway. I took it to johnny londoff service dept. , but was told that nothing was wrong with it. In addition, to noticing that the vehicle would roll backwards on the smallest of incline. As time went on the vehicle would roll back, then roll forward on leveled grounds when I would take my foot off of the brake pedal. I took the vehicle back to johnny londoff service dept. , and again was told that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. I took it to telle tires and auto center and found that the suspension was worn out on the front and back of the vehicle, with struts and spark plugs needed. This vehicle rolls back when sitting at a traffic light, at, in line at a fast food drive through, and just everyday driving. Johnny londoff should have fixed the damages and/or repairs needed before selling me the vehicle. I would not recommend buying a vehicle or doing business with them.

While traveling at higher speeds (60+ mph), the check engine light will come on and the car will lose significant power in 4th and higher gear. This will present as speed can still be gained although very slowly in 4th gear, speed can be maintained but not gained while in 5th gear, and speed will only be lost while in 6th gear. 3rd gear and below all work fine. This issue is resolved by turning the car off for a while and then it continues to operate as it should thereafter, however, the check engine light will remain lit for a few days. The main concern is that the car loses the capability to get out of the way in the case of an emergency due to the lack of power while in this state.

Tried to stop before a red sign on a city street, the car accelerated on its own, passed the red light and run at about 60 mph on a 35 mph street for about half a mile and then stopped by itself. Pressing the brakes and even putting it on park did not help. I am lucky to be alive with my two passengers, and lucky not to kill anybody or cause property damage.

The car had been parked in an unheated garage for more than 24 hours. I started it, put my foot on the brake pedal, and put it in gear (r). The car lunged back at a high rate of speed. My foot was still on the brake. To avoid hitting a vehicle behind it in the driveway, I shifted to drive (d) and the car immediately started forward still at a high rate of speed. The brakes did not slow the car down. I bumped the front wall of the garage and again shifted into r. The car started moving back again and the brakes did not work. I turned the engine off and the car began slowing and came to a stop after bumping the vehicle about 20 feet behind it. My foot was on the brake pedal the whole time. I checked for obstructions around the brake pedal and found none. Afterward, when I started the car again, it drove normally without trouble. There was no apparent damage to the car as a result of either collision but the garage wall suffered some minor damage.

Tl the contact owns a 2013 Buick Encore. While driving 35 mph, the contact noticed that the check engine and traction warning indicators illuminated. The contact also noticed that the accelerator pedal was not working properly. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road, turned off the vehicle for approximately two minutes, restarted the vehicle, and it operated normally. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the throttle body failure was not a part of the extended warranty; therefore, Buick did not have to repair the failure. The failure mileage was 74,000.

The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle started to loose power and the acceleration decreased even when accelerator pedal was depressed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000. The VIN was not available.

Contact was driving a 2013 Buick Encore (~58,000 miles) in a large parking lot when there was a sudden deceleration, the malfunction indicator lamp and traction off light came on with a message "engine power is reduced. " message cleared after turning off the vehicle and restarting; malfunction indicator lamp remained on. Dealership states problem with throttle body and need to "clean carbon" -- $1,059 so far.

My car drove fine and then I stopped at a red light at a busy intersection when my traction control and check engine light came on and the engine power reduced came across the dashboard. The lights, wipers, radio and engine was still running but when pressing on the gas pedal the car would not accelerate. I had to wave people to go around me put it in park and shut it down for 30 seconds. When I turned it on again I had to put it in reverse and keep pushing the gas pedal to get out of the intersection then I put it in drive and just kept pressing the gas pedal and inched my way into a parking space. After shutting it off and parking it for 2-3 minutes I turned it on the check engine light stayed on but the car drove like normal to get me to the dealership. I got this car in may of 2013 and the first time it happened was Feb 2014 pretty cold temps and now April 2015 about 56 degress f outside. Both times the dealer replaced the throttle body and performed idle relearn procedure. I don't have time or money to replace this part every year. I loved the size, gas mileage, design and comfort of this vehicle, however I won't be buying another general motors vehicle again. I always owned gm vehicles but not anymore I simply don't feel safe.

Leaving a stop sign onto three lane road going down a hill,when the car had no acceleration, I put on flashers and coasted to curb,had to call wrecker and be towed to dealer,said it was a throttle body sensor,that is sensitive to cold weather,2 dealers said the same thing. New part was ordered,but I don't feel safe in our cold weather if this happens on highway and it stops I am so afraid I will be run over by traffic moving at the speed limit and my Encore just stops. Feel my new part is not the fix for this safety issue, they say they can't say it won't happen again. Also read someone in n. D. Was having same issue. Hope you can look into this.
