The contact owns a 2007 Buick Lacrosse. While driving various speeds, there was a clunking noise in the steering wheel when it was turned left or right. In addition, the abs indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the brakes were replaced several times and, when making a right turn, the brakes squealed. Kempthorn Mazda in canton, ohio was made aware of the failures, but the vehicle was repaired by an independent mechanic. The mechanic replaced the rotors and the brake pads. The steering wheel was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and stated that there was no recall on the vehicle. The failure mileage was 60,000.

2005 Buick Lacrosse. Consumer writes in regards to ignition key and brake pads recall notices. The consumer stated the rotors were made of poor material. Which resulted in premature warping. Just prior to purchasing the vehicle, the dealer claimed they replaced all of the brakes. However, a few weeks later, something cause the consumer to brake hard, and that action caused the steering wheel to break away from the consumers hands and the vehicle went into a wild skid. He almost went into a ditch, but managed to get control of the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2012 Buick Lacrosse. The contact stated that the brake assist warning lamp illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure but replaced the brake pads and brake sensor. They also replaced and reprogrammed the electronic brake control module and electronic control module. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 15,019 and the current mileage was 23,200.

The contact owns a 2005 Buick Lacrosse. While driving between 55-60 mph on normal road conditions, a low power response occurred when the accelerator pedal was depressed. In addition, the brakes were not performing properly and the stopping distance increased. There were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. The failure occurred each time the vehicle is in use. The vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer for diagnostic testing and the front brake pads were replaced. On a separate occasion, the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for identical failures and the tie rod and wheel hub were replaced, and the brake drums were resurfaced. However, the failures still persist. The failure mileage was 52,000. The VIN and current mileage were unknown.
The contact stated that his brakes were defective. The first time it occurred at 3,535 miles. They looked at them and tightened something. The second time it happened at 5567 miles, they replaced the brake pads. The third time it occurred at 5,947 miles. Gm said that there was a flaw in the brakes. The pads were crystallizing. The contact noticed a problem with the brakes at 3,500 miles. Gm told the dealer not to do anything else to the brakes on 6-30-05. The contact said that there were no lights that came on prior to the brake problems. The engine light had come on due to poor fuel, and acceleration felt as if it were going to stall.
To all 2005 Buick Lacrosse owners. If you are hearing a grumbling noise like sand between brake pad and rotor, you may have the defective brake pads. There is a service bulletin on these pads. I had mine replaced when the car had 5000 miles on it. Gm will not notify their customers on this item. You will have to go to the dealership and complain like everything else related to the Buick problems that I have had.
