1 Cruise Control problem of the 2017 Buick Lacrosse

Failure Date: 03/26/2019

I have an issue with the cruise control on my 2017 Buick Lacrosse, a vehicle with 17,004 miles. While traveling on the interstate with the cruise set to 70 mph the system reset itself to 105 mph and the engine revved 3000 rpm accelerating out of control. This was the second time it happened, the other time it reset to 95 mph. Stepping on the brake pedal brought the speed back under control in both instances. I took the car to markley motors in fort collins colorado where they could not replicate the problem in their 4 mile test drive. They insinuated that I misused the resume function but in neither situation did I touch the controls. They indicated that there are no service bulletins for this problem.

2 Cruise Control problem of the 2010 Buick Lacrosse

Failure Date: 07/01/2016

On Friday, July 1, 2016 I was traveling down a 2 lane road with my cruise control set when my car suffered a loss of power. The engine still was running, but apparently my transmission lost the ability to power the car. I was able to park on the shoulder of the road, and eventually, towed to my mechanics shop. Yesterday I was told the problem was a faulty transmission control and it will cost me $1060 to repair. I was also told that this is a common enough problem that Buick dealers keep the part in stock. . If it is that common of a problem, and cars are losing power on the road, that is a safety issue and should be subject to recall, instead of taking hard earned money out of owners pockets to fix! I might add that this car has less than 68,000 miles on it!.
