Our family's 2011 Buick Lacrosse only has 57k miles on it, and the engine already has permanent irreversible damage from a manufacturer oversight in which the timing chain "skips time. " while driving on the highway, the car unpredictably lost all power, including power brakes and power steering. I quickly muscled the car to the shoulder and came to a complete stop, but this created a very dangerous situation for our family as we were forced to cross traffic, at speed, to reach the road shoulder. A day prior to this incident the vehicle went into "reduced power" mode while traveling uphill, cutting speed from 55mph to 35mph, backing up traffic. Cars were passing and honking in a double yellow-lined stretch of road. We subsequently shouldered the car, shut off its power and it seemed to be operating properly until our destination, but we only had 3 miles left to travel. The timing gear is pressed-on instead of keyed-on. This can cause the timing chain to "skip time," damaging the engine and causing erratic engine behavior. Our mechanic has seen our exact engine issue with the 3. 6l 6-cyl engines in various other gm vehicles. The problem is widespread enough to cause engine rebuild companies to key-on the timing gear, instead of gm's typical press-on process. Our mechanic advises that keying-on the timing gear is known to fix the original issue of the timing chain dangerously "skipping time. " one such company, recommended by our mechanic, is jasperengines. Com. I hope that the NHTSA can investigate this issue and hold gm accountable for this dangerous oversight for which gm fails to acknowledge or address. The car was just purchased on 112619 and the day I bought I got warning light on dash next day car is in reduced power mode, took back to carmax to have this issue resolved they cleaned tps adv it was dirty poor contact. Two days later the light is back on this time the car is sent to Buick dealership in gilbert they replaced the throttle position sensor and I was told issue is fixed 24 hours later car is back in reduced power mode.

Reduced power/traction control light came on suddenly and reduced car power immediately. This made for a very dangerous situation while passing a truck and entering the highway. The car dropped speed very quickly making for a potentially deadly situation. This problem comes and goes with no warning until it happens. Research shows this is a big problem for gm vehicles especially the 2009 Buick lacross models. It's a disaster waiting to happen if it hasn't happened already. This needs to be recalled ASAP.

My 2012 Buick Lacrosses newest problem is one that actually scares me. I can be driving along at 65 miles an hour and it will kinda jerk a couple of times, then usually it will flash 'service the stability track' then I lose power steering and it dies. I'm lucky if I can make it to the side of the road. I live in a rural area and the highways around here are two lane with minimum shoulders. So when the car does this it is dangerous. It has happened 5 times now. It will restart after about 15-30 minutes and drive just fine. I've taken it to a mechanic and nothing shows up on the computer, everything looks good. But its not, this is by far the worst of the problems I've experienced with this car and there have been quite a few.

Camshaft sensor fails repeatedly, after warranty replacement. This is causing the motor to die at different speed's and loss of vehicle control. The vehicle is unreliable and unstable. It is a liability to operate knowing any minute the csps can fail and render the vehicle useless.

Driving at nite to er and on way I thought I must have hit ignition button but car just locked up lost all power. I called gm they got back to me said they would be sending someone to see car. I did reck car not to bad but bad enough to take hole front bumper off. I am so mad because I thought I was crazy thinking car would just loos all power and even locked me in car could not open door thank god window was down. But they said they were coming to see me and car but never did.

Ac system went out, compressor and clutch stopped working.

Tl the contact owns a 2016 Buick Lacrosse. While the vehicle was in reverse, the contact attempted to shift into drive, but the vehicle failed to move forward. In addition, while accelerating from a stop, the vehicle failed to move forward. All the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel, including the check engine wrench, traction control, and stabilitrak. In addition, the speedometer and temperature indicators would go to zero. Also, when driving 50 mph, the rpms would go up and down. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to texan GMC Buick (18225 eastex fwy, humble, TX 77338, (281) 973-3117) six times where it was diagnosed that multiple failure codes were found and there was a loss of communication. The dealer performed a calibration and cleared all the codes. The vehicle was test driven and all the gauges were at zero. The following failure codes were found: u0100-u2099-u0140-u0120 (stored in trans, bcm, park brake, fuel pump control module, engine control module failing intermittently, replace engine control module assembly, performed programming and mobilizer learn and setup procedures, clear fault, and road test). The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failures and provided case number: 9-5302718071. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

Tl the contact owns a 2009 Buick Lacrosse. When the contact started the vehicle, the check engine and service trac system warning indicators illuminated. Also, the vehicle would not exceed 15 to 20 mph when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where the accelerator pedal was replaced, but the failure recurred. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and started an investigation. The manufacturer informed the contact to call NHTSA to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 99,000.

Was in a accident 2/16 speed limit 40 driving on city street. Car in front of me stopped in middle of the rd and started backing up tried to avoid collision and still had impact. The airbags did not deploy and the car engine seemed to accelerate instead of slow down. I had this happen one time before while breaking but then it switched back and drove normal called dealership and they said no recalls. My car was a total loss front impact no airbags deployed.

My car stated that my trakstabilty system needed to be serviced then reduced engine power lite up. Car would not shift and would not increase in speed over twenty miles per hour. I had to pull over and turn my car off leave it parked until I could get it to the dealership. The throttle body was defective. This has happened on other 2011 Lacrosses and their is a special service bulletin with free repair but for some reason not in mine. I had to pay 500 dollar to replace this. My car only has 74000 miles on it and I could have been injured if I wasn't in a place where I could turn my vehicle off safely.

I was going 50 miles an hour down the road when I approached an intersection and stabilitrak came on and then stated reduced engine power. At which time I lost all power to get through intersection. Almost got hit by 3 directions trying to get my car out of the road. I finally coasted to the side of the road turned car off and back on drove for another mile before it did it again. This is not safe. I do not know what is wrong with it. I am now stuck at work I do not dare to drive it.

While accelerating from a stop at an intersection and intitating a trn on a city street, the engine stopped and lost power steering and power brakes. The engine had to be jumped and a rod knock sound occurred. The engine later siezed up permanently at the service center. The vehicle was well maintained and oil levels were within normal operating range. There were no prior indications of engine trouble.

Engine light comes on when air conditioner is on and car is stationary. I have not had a diagnostic performed. Engine light varies coming on in motion.

Takata recall my Buick Lacrosse one time going down the road out of the blue it done engine power reduction,and then it just died on me. After that I did get it to start but it ran ruff and after a few weeks it would not start at all.

Twice after filling up with gas, my car was oils not start at the pump. Each time I had to wait several minutes before it would actually start. The second time it happened, I waited, it started then immediately quit again. There is a very hard start when it attempts to start as well. The engine light came on then immediately went off. I took the car directly to the dealership where it had to remain running until they could get it in. This was 540p on Friday, may 25th before a holiday.

Service stabilitrack comes on and reduces engine power. Happened this morning driving on the freeway almost caused a huge wreck because I had nowhere to go and couldn't go the freeway speed.

The issue I'm reporting has already happened approximately 8 times. First time I'm driving on the highway at 65 mph, and engine on car completely shuts down, driving wheel locks or power steering gets lost and brake pedal stops working gets very stiff and all this happened on a state highway. All that can be done is let the car come to a complete stop in its own all while using all my force to try my best to steer car away from traffic, because it locks and that time I could barely make it turn slightly due to the stiffness. After that, the car's engine wont start but lights and radio work. After constantly turning it in and off engine finally starts up after approximately an hour, but when placed on drive only moves very slow even when stepping on gas it will move at about 1 mph. I turn it off and on several time and then when I finally step on the gas it jerks me forward finally when on drive. . . .

Power train control module it has excess play in the canshaft.

While driving uphill in the winter, went to turn into neighborhood at top of hill, just as turning the vehicle, vehicle died. Everything stopped working. Engine shit off, brakes wouldn't work, steering wheel locked, lights went off, then wouldn't start. Then the vehicle instructed to roll driver window down then up, roll right window down then up. Almost like it was trying to reboot. But this happened in the middle of driving. After trying a third time to start, it started. All information was gone, no mileage, oil life gone, tripometer gone. Drove vehicle home, just a block away and been too scared to drive the vehicle since.

The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,648.

Loss of engine power while driving on highway, sudden warning stabilitrak needs service, engine power reduced. Speed dropped to 30 mph on highway from 70mph traffic flow. Could not accelerate at all to keep up w/traffic, had to pull onto shoulder to avoid getting rear ended. Could not accelerate enough speed to merge back onto highway light turned off. Dangerous!!!.

Loss of engine power while driving on highway at 75 mph, dropped suddenly to 30 mph. Had to pull onto shoulder from passing lane, almost rear ended by tractor trailer due to sudden power loss, could not accelerate. Stabilitrak light turned on stating engine power reduced. Turned car off and restarted, went away. Came back on again 3 x's while driving back home on highway, had to continuously pull over and restart engine to clear.

When the car had mileage in the mid-upper 30,000 in 2018, we noticed that as the speed coasted down to 30mph, there was a hard downshift. So hard, you thought the engine fell out of the car. At the time we had not realized it only did this when the engine was cold. So, when we took it to the dealer, they could not replicate the issue. In 12/2019, we left it overnite and they "did" replicate the issue the next morning. This is stated on our service bill. They suggested a deep atm flush, even though we had a normal flush 18 months earlier with them. We paid them to do it and the problem persists. Since we slow down every time we approach a stop sign or stoplight, this occurs as we get down to 30mph. Exactly at 30mph!!! once the engine is warm it, we do not notice the issue. But we live in northern ohio & the nites are cold oct-April. We drove the car to warm miami FL in 1/2020. It still did it, but only a mild downshift then quickly did not repeat as the temp was warmer there. To reduce the hardness of the downshift, we have reverted to trying to let the car warm up after starting it and applying the brakes as we slow down to 30mph! it is sad that this has to be done, as we have been taking great care of the car & it only has 48,000 miles. And we are not moving to FL!!! we bought the car new from this dealer.

If stopped uphill and the auto stop activates, when you release the brake the car can roll back, and the way people stop on top of you these days your car can roll back into them and you have to repair their car. Plus it actually takes more gas than my v8 2016 GMC sierra that doesn't stop when traveling from my fueling location to my home, per the cars own computer system.

The vehicle was taken to davis gm in polaka, FL, but the failure was unable to be duplicated and no repairs were performed. The failure continued to occur. My car goes into starting disable and it cuts the car off in traffic having me wait for atleast 5 to 10 minutes to restart.
