Engine Exhaust System Problems of Buick Lacrosse

The 2011 Buick Lacrosse with a 3. 6 had popping sound upon starting when car was 5 days old; brought to dealership and was asked if I was sure it was my car. They checked vehicle and could find nothing wrong. The problem is intermittent. It popped upon starting 8-9 more times in 3 weeks. Upon leaving a restaurant, the vehicle would not start & had no power; onstar was of no use. Dealer had car towed to them; kept car for 10 days and put 160 miles on it and I was told that they reprogrammed 3 computers but could not replicate the popping sound. I picked up my car and discovered that it had been hit whille at dealership. Dealership had car painted. I got my car on Tuesday, Thursday it popped twice. Returned car to dealer again. They told me to pick car up that they could not find a problem. They found that the exhaust expanded upon starting and made a poofing sound. They said that there was nothing more they could do. I have been in touch with Buick executive offices. The car has 1087 miles on it. It had 287 when I purchased it and they put 160 miles on it when they had it. I've only had the car 6 weeks and 2 of those weeks it has been in the shop. They refuse to give me another vehicle like the one I have or give my money back. What options are left?? lemon law. I don't really want to do that. I love the ride of the car and the features, but I cannot enjoy it at all and do not feel safe driving it.

2010 Buick Lacrosse bought 02/10. Started hearing loud pop with turning ignition month after buying car. Taken to dealer 4 times but problem still exists. Now I hear it with ignition off (within 15 minutes of stopping car) and while driving. Dealer has replaced starter unit but did not help. Gm rep and service manager state now the problem is "normal". Hmmmm, why did they replace the starter then. . . I have never heard this loud pop in any other car I have ever driven or ridden in before, so I don't buy this. I wonder if this is what the Toyota people told the people with the brake issues!!! do not buy gm!!! maybe the quality has gotten a little bit better but their service and willingness to take care of their customers still sucks. . .

Purchased a 2009 Buick Lacrosse in Feb 09 for my wife - at various times about 6 events have happened all together with a strong alcohol odor coming into the interior. The smell is strong and causes her nose, eye and throat to burn. This past weekend - she drove it to va beach, va with family and it happened twice on Sunday - June 7, 2009. My concern is if the build up of this strong alcohol odor comes into the car - can the odor cause a fire? I have had it back to dealership where purchased and they said until it happens all the time - there is not a thing they can do about it. I am taking it to another gm dealership in the morning to see what they come up with. We like the car, but am afraid it may cause a fire with this strong odor coming into the cabin of the auto, or cause my wife to have an accident because she has lung copd problems and the odor takes her breath away it is so strong. This has happened once in Feb, twice in March, once in April and twice in June that she has noticed. I have also smelled an odd odor on a trip to columbus, ohio. Can you help find a solution to this problem or let me know if others have had this same problem. Thanks.
