The vehicle in question is equipped with the 3800 series engine. The vehicle caught on fire while starting the engine. Family member owned a 2003 chevy impala with identical engine which caught on fire while he was driving home for work. Gm settled with them for a recall that was placed on the engine. I believe there is a major design flaw with this engine.

"defective gaskets fire hazard" oil dripping from valve cover caught fire burning plug wires and 3800 v6 engine shroud'. I had parked the vehicle in my drive. I went inside home for 2 minutes. I came back outside to retrieve a soda when I discovered smoke billowing from under hood. When I released hood latch and raised hood flames shot out driving me to the ground. I quickly got a wash bucket nearby and was able to put out fire. I don't know the extent of damage. I found out that over 1300 gm vehicles have caught fire due to this problem. I reported the incident to Buick and was told a representative would contact me within 24 hours. 2 days pass no call and car sits in drive. I'm lucky I caught it as it could have caused a house fire as well.

Beginning about August of 2015 until now, oct 2015, the engine of my Buick le sabre has begun to stop running while driving. When that occurs I lose my power steering and power brakes. Tonight (oct 7, 2015) it happened four times on the way home. I made it home safely fortunately but I will not drive the car again until it is fixed. Last week I had both a mobile mechanic and an auto shop (purcell) look at it and they can not diagnose the problem. They call it an intermittent defect. What I have experienced sounds exactly like the description of the experience of the automobiles that gm has recalled, although my year, make, and model are not on the list that I found on the internet. My experience is so similar that I want my ignition switch replaced by gm before I will drive the car again. Please advise. Thanks.
The gas hand said it was full, when I drove off the parking lot. . I didn't get off the road, when the car ran out of gas. Cars blowing horns.
My 2004 Buick Lesabre keeps losing power while I am driving. This is the 4th incident in 2 months! the vehicle dies and the power steering locks. This is a dangerous situation as I was on hwy 190 and there is major work being done. I was driving over a bridge and their are barriers on both sides of the highway. Each time the incident occurs I get a crank but no start. My vehicle is then towed to a mechanic and I've been told that the crank shaft sensor and ignition module are bad. The sensor has been replaced twice within a weeks time and not three weeks after the module was replaced it is back at the shop today. I have no leverage under texas lemon laws because it is used vehicle and unfortunately I have to put my job before my safety because I have responsibilities. I am in a dangerous situation right now!.

Car went into cruise control on its own and would not dis-engage. Found out that the cruise control cable clip broke. Luckily we were able to stop the car and no one was hurt.
Driving the car normally, and the engine suddenly quits, and with it, so does the power steering. Very dangerous, but I have been able to restart in neutral, luckily. Why??.
While driving on a 40mph road, the engine spontaneously lost power - the power steering and brakes also ceased to function as a result. The radio and lights were still on. After guiding the stricken car to a safe area, I turned the engine back on and was able to drive as normal. The issue repeated roughly a week later at lower speed while going over a speed-hump in a shopping center parking lot. Note: the issue occurred following the addition of apartment and mail keys to the keyring. I separated the additional keys from the car's key following the second incident. The issue has not repeated since.
In approx 2010 my Buick Lesabre had issues starting and would occasionally stop operating during travel. All ignition functions would cease to work. Towed to Buick dealership to resolve and replaced ignition switch. This year a similar action happened where the car would not start. Again at the dealership the ignition switch was replaced. Is this ignition switch issue included in the gm recall?.
