1 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 11/28/2016

The fuel gauge indicates properly until it reaches the halfway mark. It then fluctuates and is not reliable. This could lead to running out of fuel in traffic, in-climate conditions or in isolated areas without indication. This is a safety hazard that seems to be prevalent on these vehicles and needs to be addressed!.

Failure Date: 06/10/2015

The contact owns a 2004 Buick Lesabre. While driving at 25 mph, the engine overheated. The contact also stated that the vehicle fuel gauge fluctuated from empty to full, but never fully displayed the correct amount of fuel. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the intake gasket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,718.

3 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of the 2005 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

Needles on fuel gauge goes all the way around and points verticle. Needle crashes into the thermometer needle that also points verticle. Does not correctly register fuel or temperature. I am depending on my odometer to guess at my fuel levels. This seems to have started after my "loose gas cap" alarm came on. I had cap replaced 2 times, light will not go off. This, of course makes the service vehicle soon light stay on.

5 Other Fuel System Fuel Gauge problem of the 2000 Buick Lesabre

Failure Date: 11/01/2006

I have a 2000 Buick Lesabre with 52000 miles on it. When the fuel gauge drops below 1/2 tank it starts moving erratically. It will move up to full and then drop down to 1/4 tank, just moves back and forth so below 1/2 tank I don't know how much fuel I have. It also confuses the fuel system computer in the driver information center so that is not reliable either. I just have to keep track of my mileage and based on fuel economy I determine when I need to buy gas. I can't find any recall information for the 2000 model but read some where that a later year model had this same problem and the only fix is to replace the fuel tank where the sensor is located. This is not only faulty engineering it is incompetent engineering.
